Re: FenwayMac Variety Hitting and Scoring Sliders

Just a quick update. After three games the extra base hits have certainly returned. Hits (1b,2b,3b,HR) = 24,8,1,4 which percentage-wise works out to 64.9%, 21.6%, 2.7%, and 10.8%. Refreshing to see a bump to extra base hits and a nerf to homers.

On caveat though is that the CPU hit .333 in three games (14,8,15) hits. I am leaning toward dropping CPU timing to 2to open up a few more mis-hits and K's. Your results may vary, but these are getting very close to what I am hoping for.

In my games against the Nationals, Adam Conley pitched 6 innings and struck out 4. Gave up 9 hits. My relievers gave up an additional 6 hits to bring the Nationals hits to 15. Second game, Andrew Cashner went 7.1 innings while only giving up 2 hits and striking out 6. The bullpen actually did their job for once and didn't give up any more hits the rest of the game. Last game of the series Tom Koehler pitched 5.2 innings gave up 6 hits and struck out 4. Bullpen gave up 3 additional hits to bring the Nationals hits to 9.

First game I was getting creamed straight up. Regardless what I threw it was getting hit. Even when I mixed up pitches, it was getting hit and hit hard. Second game, Andrew Cashner had a no hitter through 7 innings. I was adding and subtracting velocity, and locating the breaking pitches. Third game I was pitching well through 3 innings. Only gave up 2 hits, and then they began to get hot. They hit well with runners on base. To make matters worse my pitchers walked some batters in crucial moments. I use classic pitching.

Did you decide on timing at 2 or 3? Was there a good mixture of extra base hits and less homeruns?

Welp, back to All Star only settings. I am convinced that they boosted the CPU offence in the last patch. The CPU is much tougher at the plate now. To adjust for this I will be using the following sliders:

          CPU contact : 5
          CPU power: 4
CPU timing: 3 or 4 (since last patch there timing now is insane at default)

For CPU Pitching went to my set from last years game:

          CPU control: 3
          CPU consistency: 4
          CPU strike frequency: 2

Seeing CPU pitchers around 55 to 68 strike percentages.

HOF is definitely a grind, but I feel that it is THIS CLOSE to working out with CPU timing at 2. I do believe that the computer will do its absolute best to try to screw you, but if you just mix up pitching, substitutions, mound visits and keep them off-balance, it seems to help.

Oh, regarding the catcher. I gave him one chance to call a pitch. ONE. He called fastball high. Guess what happened? Yep, I am going to call my own games 😜

Latest game with timing now set at two. A 3-2 loss to the Padres. Steven Wright pitched 6 K's, walked 3. San Diego had 9 hits (6 singles, 2 doubles, and one solo HR). Lost on a suicide bunt. Sucks for me,but all in all a good game.

I was playing on 2. I gave up some home runs..but I chalk that up to mistakes up in the zone. Yea there was a mixture. Just finished playing the Giants and gave up 9 hits and struck out 5 but managed to win 1-0 on an error. Gave up some doubles and one triple but no HR's.

Latest game was a 2-1 pitchers duel using CPU timing at 2. I am not reading in to the low score as a result of the timing being dropped because my offense was held down as well. I just think some games the CPU just decides the variety of game it wants you to experience.

Joe Kelly was the winner, giving up four hits, one run, walking 3, and gathering 7 K's in six innings. The bullpen gave up four hits and gathered two K's.

As a team, San Diego had eight hits total, including four doubles and no homeruns.

For the three game set San Diego had 20 singles (64.5 %), eight doubles (25.8%), 1 triple (3.2%)and two home runs (6.5%).

On to Toronto. We'll see how much pop they have.

How are you coming up with those numbers? Do you record the type of hits per game?

Also to add I beat the LA Dodgers 7-0. Jose Fernandez pitched lights out. Struck out 11 through 7 innings.

Yeah, I would recommend bumping timing back up to 3. I might have been a little quick on the drop when they were averaging .330. Need a larger sample size. Timing on two seems just a little TOO easy.

How I gather the data is from the box scores. Take total hits and subtract the doubles, triples and homers to get the singles total. Divide each type of hit total by total hits. That's where you get the percentages.

Just turned off my system but managed to win in extra innings against the Dodgers 3-2. Wei-Yin Chen was the pitcher. I will post stats tomorrow Fenway

Cool. Thanks for all of the feedback you have been providing. I am ticking back up to 3 timing for a few games. just give it a better sample. One thing is for sure though. Home runs have certainly been tamed!

Hey all, I am going to post the box scores from the entire Boston v Toronto series to give you a good spectrum of results. I am at the top of the pitching order, so this is a good time to test out the latest CPU sliders. The HUM hitting sliders are the same as they have always been, on All-Star hitting. The CPU hitting sliders are as follows and based on HOF pitching level...

                            CPU Contact 5
                            CPU Power 6
                            CPU Timing 3
                            CPU FF 5
                            CPU Solid Hits 4

                            Here is game #1

Game #2. My batting went flat. Pretty frustrating because the Sanchez is one of those pitchers in this game that simply will not walk a batter, so I was forced to swing away. I did the best I could with Rodriguez, but if you cannot score, you cannot win.

Okay. Just to let you know Fenway I was using Pure Analog when I was pitching with Wei-Yin Chen. He went 7 innings strong and gave up 5 hits and only struck out 3. The Marlins gave up 8 hits, 6 singles and 2 doubles. One of the doubles that were given up was from the pitcher, Kenta Maeda. We won 3-2 and we gave up zero homeruns.

The next game I played the Milwaukee Brewers. Adam Conley was pitching and this game ended up going into extra innings thanks to a rally from the Brewers in the 6th inning. Conley started out strong through 4 innings then got rocked. He only lasted 5.1 innings and he had given up 7 hits, and struck out 6. The Marlins gave up 10 hits that game and gave up only 1 double and 9 singles.

The next game of the series we won 9-2. Our pitcher was Andrew Cashner who is currently 4-1. He lasted 6 innings while only giving up 3 hits and striking out 7. The Brewers only accumulated 3 hits off of our bullpen as we struck out 11 batters, 4 coming from the bullpen. Out of those 6 hits, 3 of the hits were doubles and the other 3 were singles.

To add, I use Pure Analog pitching and I feel like you can pitch however you want to with this setting.
