I see home runs was at 15% and the league average was around 10, the other stats were pretty accurate.

just wnated to know the final results of the hitting and pitching numbers for your sliders?
Hey, these were my hitting numbers at the 60-game mark
    1B - 63.6%
    2B - 20.6%
    3B - 1.8%
    HR - 14%

HR's continue to stabilize as the season goes on. I feel really good about the HUM hitting sliders. I have my 70th game today and will post the results, but I don't expect any major shift. I have seen varied scoring and varied hit types with the HUM sliders right where they are.

CPU hitting sliders are a bit more experimental at this point. I have been using higher solid hits and it has helped the CPU hit more doubles and triples (the CPU was very singles-heavy initially), BUT I still feel the computer is still anemic in BA and might need a bump in contact. I will report back at some point today with the new data, but overall on HUM hitting, I love where they are set.

thanks for the fast response, i'm wanting to start a franchise and like how you have experimented, are the slider numbers the ones on page 1, at the bottom?

Yes, at the bottom of the (lengthy) first post.

Some items not listed in the set. I use zone hitting, all star hitting and pitching, and meter pitching.

Let me know how it goes for you after 10, 20 etc. give the numbers some time to balance out, all teams will have full strength at the beginning of the season and might hit some high numbers, but it will settle down after a few rounds through the rotation.

Which team will you be using, btw?

I believe there is a hyperlink to it about 3-4 posts in on the first page. It will guide you through it, but essentially after you fill in the fields it will create a have script that you just cut and paste into you post.

Rangers ballpark might be more prone to home runs and power. But if the sliders help turn some of those into doubles and triples it should be a good variety of scoring types and hits. Should be fun!

THAT is a question I would put out there in a thread to the forum. I have the fortune of playing at Fenway, which aids doubles and home runs and favors right-handed batters.

After my Sox season I would like to try another team, maybe an NL team.

A good game with decent numbers and variety. I got a little too cute with Price and it almost cost me dearly! 70 games in the books. I will update the numbers shortly

Re: FenwayMac Variety Hitting and Scoring Sliders

Let's start off by going over my HUM Hitting sliders

                      1B - 62.6%
                      2B - 20.7%
                      3B - 2.2%
                      HR - 14.5%

Actual MLB Red Sox (difference in parenthesis)

                      1B - 62.6% (0.0%)
                      2B - 23.3% (2.6%)
                      3B - 2.4% (0.4%)
                      HR - 11.7% (2.8%)

                      Summary

I have run smack-dab into actual MLB Red Sox singles percentages, while doubles and triples still trail slightly...but nothing too unreasonable. You will notice that my homeruns have crept up, but if you have paid attention to my box scores, you will see that my franchise David Ortiz is on an absolute tear and definitely is affecting my home run percentages considerably. In fact, without his 27 home runs, my percentage would be a much more reasonable 10.7%, almost a full percent lower than the actual team. The Show is sending Papi out with a bang, and I may as well enjoy the ride!

Still very happy with the variety of how my team scores runs.

                      20-game CPU slider bump results

                      My Franchise CPU Hitting Percentages

                      1B -64.8%
                      2B- 19.2%
                      3B - 3.2%
                      HR - 12.8%

                      Actual MLB Average(difference in parenthesis)

                      1B - 65.3% (0.5%)
                      2B - 19.5% (0.3%)
                      3B - 2.1% (1.1%)
                      HR- 13.1% (0.3%)

                      Summary

As for hit variety, only triples vary more than 1/2 of 1% which to me seems pretty dang good. The initial goal to shave some percentage off of singles and add more doubles and triples has definitely worked out okay. As for how the CPU score runs, you will see from my box scores that it is a pretty balanced attack. No more single, single, long ball.

                      BUT...

I am not thrilled with the batting average of the computer, which is sitting at around .235 or so. Granted I do have a top-third pitching staff in the league, I can't help but feel that there are several games where I feel I can put the ball practically anywhere and get an easy out. NOT EVERY GAME, but seemingly more often lately.

You have seen others speak about the anemic offense of the CPU on various other threads on this site, and I am tending to agree that, while the game with these sliders is definitely very enjoyable, I feel that I can get away with going on auto-pilot on pitching a little too often.

                      What to do?

Granted, much of how well a team pitches is user skill-based. I have used meter-based pitching since I started playing this game and it is my preferred interface, so I don't want to mess around with that. I also feel that the accuracy and consistency sliders for both HUM and CPU are at a good position and don't want to mess around with that.

Generally overall, if you want to increase batting averages, it would make sense to increase the contact slider for the CPU. This could potentially affect how many K's I am able to get each game, it may affect how many hits the CPU gets per game (currently right there with league avg 9 per game), it may also affect how badly the computer slaughters me as well. BUT, I am willing to wager that I will step up to the challenge and adapt, while also having that little extra bit of nerves with each pitch that I feel goes missing a bit lately.

So for my experiment, I am going to bump up contact by one for the CPU hitting and see how it goes. For summary, that would put the CPU at (I will update first post to indicate testing):

                      CPU Contact - 7
                      CPU Power - 5
                      CPU Foul Frequency - 5
                      CPU Timing - 5
                      CPU Solid Hits - 4

by no means would I suggest anybody bump up contact if they feel they are in a good place currently. I simply feel my CPU opponents need a bit of a kick, and I don't want to reinvent the wheel to get there.

                      Overall

Overall I really like where the hit variety and run scoring variety for both HUM and CPU have settled in. It feels realistic and I like the ability to strategically move the runners over and find ways to get them in rather than a well-timed bomb. Same goes for the computer. It feels more strategic. Now lets see if we can make the CPU strike a little more fear in me...

                        hi fenway,

done a couple of games and really like hitting variety so far. One question if i feel later on i'm making too much contact on pitches alot would u go up difficulty before moving contact dowwn 1 for example as moving difficulty wil make the PCI smaller right?

                          hi fenway,

done a couple of games and really like hitting variety so far. One question if i feel later on i'm making too much contact on pitches alot would u go up difficulty before moving contact dowwn 1 for example as moving difficulty wil make the PCI smaller right?
Yep, increasing the difficulty will decrease the PCI size, but given that these sliders are dialed in at all-star level, I cannot say whether or not you would then need to re-tweak the hitting sliders as well.

I would say give it a good 20 games to allow your players to fatigue and see if their contact mellows out. I have also heard that timing will affect contact a bit, or make it more challenging to square up.

a lot of my strikeouts are looking K's, which is the result of having the computer pitching accuracy and consistency at 3. They can paint pretty good and the variable strike zone can play a part. I also have my fair share of hack strikeouts, but if you feel you need more K's, try dropping timing a tick.

Sorry if I missed the answer before but how do these work with timing/directional hitting

Hey there! I have been a zone-hitter from the beginning so I honestly cannot speak to the other hitting interfaces. I would say the best thing to do would be to play about 10 games, and run your hit type percentages to see where the settle. My initial instinct though is that these should work fine with other interfaces.

They work well. Had a variety of hits along with homeruns when I tested them with the Orioles.
