    Re: Armor & Sword & Marino's MLB The Show 17 Timed/Classic Simulation All-Star Slider

Armor, any tips when pitching with 2 strikes? It seems, Pitch 1, location good. Pitch 2, location good, pitch 3 (off the plate to chase) location good. Strike out pitch (example down and away) location no where close. Pitch 5 again trying to hit the corner, right down the pipe and nailed for a hit......

I cant seem to get away from it. It seems every later pitch goes no where near location or gravitates right to the center. Any thoughts or help?

In the end whatever works for each individual person is awesome. I'll keep my 5-5-5 discussion from this thread going forward, genuinely appreciate the slider work you did this year as it saved me a ton of time and outside of the aforementioned settings we have the exact same setup so thanks again for the work put into to testing sliders.

      Guy's,

That was not the intention of my post. I like that everyone shares idea's and settings in here. My OP is merely a base for many of you and all of you make your own tweaks as you see fit.

I mentioned it so people reading the thread know...I am solid on my settings on the OP.

By all means....keep your discussions going.

I just like to chime in to let readers know....I am still playing the OP settings.

I don't want to see 4th and 5th starters pounding the strike zone at will. That is not sim to me at all. Most nights you should be able to conjure up good offense vs average to below average starters. That's why they are back of the rotation guys.

Ace's still pitch like aces most nights with the OP pitching settings. Great #2 starters and good #3 starters perform accordingly.

Now if you are simply mashing night in night out...then yes I would suggest moving up CPU strike frequency one click to 4 leave everything else as is.

That will simply allow them to potentially get ahead in the count more often if your batters eye is that good that you can consistently get ahead with strike frequency on 3.

But default 5-5-5.....that makes all the pitchers too close in skill level IMO. The ratings really factor more when you make it more challenging for them (as well as yourself which is why I moved to HOF and have it set at 4-4 for the human and so far it has been awesome). You will see the difference between Kershaw and Baur......no doubt. But default? My experience has been no.

Strike percentages get out of hand IMO.

But that's my opinion. And this is the way I play the game (the OP).

If 5-5-5 is giving you what you want.....it is the right way for "YOU".

But I have been very very pleased with the set. And the move to HOF pitching has been a godsend.

Eventually I may even move to HOF hitting. But right now I am getting plenty of hitting variety, hot steaks, cold streaks and fantastic stats.

Once I am at the All-Star Break in my current Yankees Franchise (which I have to tell you I have been tempted to restart because I played 1.5 moths of AS pitching and it has skewed my pitching results but I have some awesome story lines going and said nope going to just stay with it) I will post my player stats and team stats.

I am sure it will be impressive and very close to real life.

But you know what.....even if some numbers look odd....that's baseball. The most important thing is I am having a total blast playing everyday. The games feel and play out highly authentic to what I watch every night around the league.

        This game rocks the house!!!
Sup, Armor. First off, your set is amazing. I also switched to HOF pitching and kept hitting at All Star. Loving the change. Question tho, I don't use classic pitching, I use meter. Does that even matter? Also, I've been giving up some bombs lately, especially the last few games. Not complaining about that, I guess it's the jump to HOF pitching and me trying to blow a fastball past Machado, Jones, Davis, etc. (currently playing the Orioles). I'm currently 1.5 games up in the division with a record of like 38-22.

        Yankees
        Toronto
        Rays
        Sox
        Orioles

One more thing: Did they fix the "it's the 10th win of the season" glitch? I'm not sure I heard it recently.

        Good day sir

          Sup youngin,

I have heard from many people they use meter pitching and get great results.

As far as blowing fastballs by Machado and Davis etc.....ha ha ha, that is why we pitch on HOF now. Not as easy to do and I have done it (when set up perfectly) but sometimes they send it out of the park into the parking lot!

I have not heard that 10th win bug either since 1.06. maybe it is fixed. Hopefully I find out tonight as I begin my home stand vs The Royals.

Whenever someone, myself included, has an issue with the CPU hitting a bunch of homers in a game it almost always seems to be against the Orioles hahaha. First time I questioned the CPU power was after giving up 6 homers in a game to them.

Thanks for the prompt response. I have to stop trying to blow one past these hitters. They're literally, like you said, launching them into the parking lot. In my case, the 3rd deck at the stadium. Lol I'll be more careful. Overall, the experience is refreshing. I appreciate you putting these out year after year. Keep up the good work.

Lol, bruh, I blew two saves against the Orioles yesterday. They were Tee'ing off on me. Especially in the later innings. Schoop, Machado, Jones, Alvarez, Hardy, Davis, etc. All blasted me. Lol It's competitive tho.

I have a feeling I'll be right there with you. In the beginning I actually had lowered fastball pitch speed to 4 now I'm at a 6/8 split but still only striking out looking when I get fooled more then anything.

Just IFY if your using hybrid roster might want to put the injury sliders on 8-10 all the time they have durability for a lot of players above 80 so you don't have to sub them out as frequently the con to this is less injuries I currently have the slider on 10 and not seeing a ton of injuries just trying help my A&S community out

Great sliders armor. I'm loving HOF pitching. Only adjustment I've made was move CPU starter stamina to 6 as I like for them to be even for both human and CPU . I'm currently 5-1 in my Braves franchise & middle of the league for most categories.

PS: I just wanted to give everyone the heads up that the CPU does not set their relievers to "ready & waiting" once they are fully warm. This causes the CPU to over work their relievers which after a few innings they will start to lose energy. There is an easy fix for this; Just keep an eye on the CPU's bullpen once they start warming up relievers and then go to team select and quicly set their relievers to ready & waiting once they are fully warm. Then switch back to your team. This doesn't require 30 team control so no worries on that. Armor helped out with this simple solution and if you feel up to it add it to the OP

Agreed on the CPU warming up issue. I started to watch that after you mentioned it to me on one of my streams.

                                Very easy to manage.

I will update the OP and I was meaning to do so.

Once the CPU get's their pen going, just check it before your half of the inning ends at the plate and set them to ready and waiting.

Simply do this by pausing the game moving the controller to the CPU team and then going into their bullpen and setting them to ready and waiting when they are showing warm.

Pause and switch controller back to your team.

                                Done.
