That was followed up with a solo shot by Mitch Moreland for a 3-1 lead. O's respond with a solo shot from Jones in the bottom half to cut the lead to 3-2. The O's struck for two more runs in the 6th for a 4-3 lead and that would be the final.

Orioles 4; AB 32, hits 10, BB 2, K's 5, HR 1 (fewest times I have struck out so far)
    Redsox: 3; AB 30, hits 5, BB 2, K's 8, HR 2

Modifiers were: Fielder SPD +1, Pitch Control +1 Human, and -1 Reaction

I did like the fielder speed of 2. What have you guys seen as far as fielder speed?

I haven't gone below 4, but will test that I my Giants Franchise and provide some feedback.

As Bryan says it is a pain with the constant switching right now, but I am dealing with and I actually had a CPU starter go 7 in a side franchise I started yesterday. Game was 1-1 when he was pulled for a pinch hitter. I will have to play a few more games I that franchise to see if it was a fluke, or I the last patch somehow affected that, but it only applied to new franchise starts. I am thinking fluke

Updated OP to move CPU pitcher consistency to 4, just to reduce the distance pitches miss their original target by and keep more pitches in the black. Also added pitch speed option of 6/8, which I am using now. I feel that once you are used to the hitting view, this gives you the best balance of recognition vs. reaction. I would highly recommend going to these speeds as you get a good feel for the sliders.

Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

I played a exhibition game this morning using Coach's sliders. I didn't use any modificaters yet cause I wanted to test the base sliders. I didn't have time to finish the game but after 5 IP the Pirates are up 9-1. Lester shut me down for the most part for the first 3 innings. I gave up a solo HR to Bryant in the first and answered back with a 2 out walk and a double to tie it in the 2nd. Then in the 4th Lester's wheels came off.

Hit 2 singles and a double to score both runs to make it 3-1. Then I seen something I didn't see before. I hit the ball to the 3B with a runner on 2nd and it was deep in the corner. Bryant had to throw the ball from foul territory and the batter beat it out for a infield single. But what was neat is when Bryant got the ball the runner at 2nd started to go back to the base. When the throw was about half way there the runner from 2nd took off. They threw back to 3rd and nobody was covering the base. I thought that was neat that the auto baserunning did that. Then I hit a 3 run homer and then a walk and 2 more HR. All that bumped up my level to Veteran+.

Cole pitched good enough to get in trouble and get himself out of it. Gave up 8 hits in 5 IP but no walks.

        Cubs 1 8 0
        Pirates 9 9 0

        Pirates: 9 Hits, 3 BB, 4 strikeouts, 2 2B, 3 HR
        Cubs: 8 Hits, 0 BB, 5 strikeouts, 2 2B, 1 HR

I played games in my test Giants franchise last night using both 2 and 3 speed and I actually like 3. doesn't hamper fielders too much, but takes a couple of steps away that made a difference on gappers and balls over the head, which I really liked. I will do some more testing today, but 3 is a definite possibility for me.

Played the first game in my A's franchise last night using these. Only changes i made were to the hitting cam (mlb 15) and pitching cam (pitcher)... i lost to the Angels 3-2. Using QC i saw the Angles pull Richards in a 2-2 tie after 5... at first i was annoyed, but realized he already threw 101 pitches... to me that seems realistic as its only the first start of the year. I threw an absolute hanger to Pujols and he proceeded to hit it to San Jose!. i hit back to back solo shots with Davis and Vogt. good stuff BYU!

The Pirates opened up the season in the rain in Boston and walked away with a 3-1 lead. Cole was brilliant striking out 11 in 8 IP. I got to Sale early with a 2 run HR and a RBI double in the 1st and 3rd.

My modifiers were +1 for errors and wind for the rain. -1 Human PControl and +1 for wind

              Red Sox 1 4 0

Well I wasn't going to post another game but my 2nd game the wind was blowing out 14 mph in Fenway. I won 10-9. I hit 2 HR and they hit 3. A lot of hitting and a lot of bad ERA's to start the season. But what I liked was it was after a low scoring game so I liked the variety. I even had -1 for both teams for solid hits.

                Pirates 10 17 0
                Red Sox 9 15 0

I walked 4 times and struck out 5
The Red Sox walked 2 times and stuck out 6.

Big variety in those two, good stuff. Have you played around with fielder speed 3 at all? I am still testing it, but curious if you have looked at it at all? Also, what pitch speeds are you currently using?

I have been playing with field speed at 2 for own. It seems to be working good for me so far. My pitch speeds are 4 and 6. The last game bumped me to All star level on offense so my next game will be interesting on how's I do.

I lost the finale of the series 2-1. I struggled on offense against Porcello. Gave up a walk off double in the 10th inning to loosen 2-1.

                      Pirates 1 4 1
                      Red Sox 2 11 0

Next up for me is Atlanta for my home opener. Should be a better time hitting hopefully so I can test out these sliders on All Star.

Played my longest game ever tonight, 18 innings against Cincinnati, led 2-0 behind Sabathia into the 8th, best he has pitched all year, then the wheels came off and they tied it. I took a 3-2 lead in the 17th, only to have them tie it in the bottom of the inning. Then in the 18th a 1 out double by Billy Hamilton, who then scored the winner on a line single to left that would have resulted in anyone else on that team getting thrown out at home, but he is just too damn fast.

                        Yankees 3-11-0 - 18 Innings
                        Reds 4-10-1

                        HR: Yanks 2 Reds 0
                        2B Yanks 2 Reds 3
                        3B Yanks 0 Reds 1
                        BB Yanks 9, Reds 5
                        K Yanks 17 Reds 14

We both ran out of pinch hitters and the Reds ran out of pitchers, good times.

That's awesome. I had a 18 inning game on my last franchise with the Pirates against the Braves. We both ran out of pitchers. That killed my pitchers for the next couple games.

Hey bud, i saw you put power at 3 with QC off... given all the issues with QC, do you support the rest of your sliders playing a full game until this hopefully gets patched?

Yessir, with the exception of the two changes in red, everything else has been fine in my experience and I only dropped power due to the fact you will see more "fat" pitches playing full counts, and the human pitcher doesn't have to start in any hitters counts.

50 game analysis done, OP updated with final version for 2017

I have now completed 50 games and feel comfortable finalizing the "old guy" set for 2017 based on game[;ay, stats comparison and sample size
Changes from version 2.1 - Reduced Human foul freq from 2 to 0, settled on pitch speed of 5 FB 7 OS, this really is the sweet spot IMO. CPU contact from 5 to 6, CPU timing from 1 to 0 and power from 3 to 2.Fielder speed changed from 4 to 3.These are the final changes based on 40 game statistical benchmarks and 10 game trending since changes. Detail behind the changes:

1-Human foul frequency to 0: This goes in conjunction with preferred pitch speeds at 5/7 (Which Armor & Sward and Marino nailed early in the process. Foul freq on 2 and pitch speed at 5/7 did not result in enough borderline misses and 6/8 was a tad too fast for the “old guy” genre to consistently time correctly. The clicks down in fouls caught the right balance as pitches that were just fouled off now become strikeouts more frequently, without affecting overall average or extra base hits.

2-CPU timing to 0 and contact to 6 – Based on hits against contact needed to be higher to increase opponent batting average, while still balancing strikeouts and keeping the deep threat alive if you made a mistake. Like human, the CPU drop in timing bumped K’s just a fraction, while increasing average and power remained consistent, while the number of bloop hits and hit variety increased.Balance was not bad in this area before, but now even better from testing.

3-CPU power from 3 to 2 as the increase in contact has the CPU catching pitched in the sweet spot when they time the pitch more often. Still gave up 7 HR in 10 games with power on 2, so the contact increase makes up for both the timing reduction and power reduction.Botton line, saw the same HR and more base hits, which was the goal.

4-Fielder speed to 3 has made ratings matter more IMO and there has been a slight increase in doubles, though they are still good overall. The big difference now is that outfielders don’t run hits down that go over their heads as much and that has led to some new animations and hit variety.See below the sliders for the 50 game averages and trends. This will be the final “old guy” version, unless a patch causes any anomalies, but outside of the QC issues I can’t see them tweaking much else…hopefully.

                                Human Contact: 5
                                Human Power: 4
                                (3 with QC off)
                                Human Timing: 3
                                Human Foul Frequency: 0
                                Human Solid Hits: 3
                                Human Starter Stamina: 6
                                Human Reliever Stamina: 2
Human Pitcher Control: 5 (This at default because HOF is still not forgiving)
                                (4 with QC off)
                                Human Pitcher Consistency: 4
