Re: BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

Just started me a Atlanta Braves 1995 Season. Had lots of different fielding animations in this one. had the OF take a wrong rout that was different. Had a couple of missed plays in the IF.

    ATL 9 15 0
    NYM 4 10 1

    ATL - 4 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 HR 2 BB 3 K's
    NYM - 1 Double, 1 HR 2 BB, 1 K

I had 6 hits. I even had to lower fastball speed to 1 just cause I kept popping up the fastballs. I don't know why I'm not getting the results you guys are getting. I never had to use fastball speed of 1. 3 was the minimum for me.

I don't know maybe I'll just play on rookie and max all the sliders out?
I was doing that in my game vs the Mets in the 1995 season opener then I waited a little bit more on the ball and started getting hits like crazy.

Try and let the ball get deeper across the plate and see if the h8its come a bit more.

I have noticed this in some other franchise's as well when I don't hit I just start waiting on balls to get deeper in the zone then I get hits.

      Worth a shot anyway

This game gets in your head sometimes when it comes to hitting. I have games where I "see" the ball so much better and others where I press and start flailing. When I get into a slump I always try and get on track going opposite field and waiting a bit longer on pitches and that seems to help.

Yeah and part of it I was facing good pitching. It seems like I was always late on the inside fastballs and I was just popping them up. And part of the problem was I wasn't swinging and missing to get another chance or fouling it off to get another chance. I play with QC so I would see the one pitch if it looks good I'll swing.

I play with QP too and yeah that will get you a lot more pop ups and outs cause you don't always have the counts to look for all the pitches, but for me I'm able to get more walks this way so I'm going at it with QC

I love QP. I don't like trying to work the count cause I would want to swing at everything.

I played a game last night with All Star hitting with the All Star settings and I raised Human Solid Hits to 6. I have pitch speed at 1/2 and I did pretty good. I won 7-6 in extra innings.

The thing I noticed now and playing in the National League is the catcher issue. They started their back up catcher in that game and they used their primary catcher as a pinch hitter and then later pinch ran for the catcher. So the Mets had to use Jose Reyes as their catcher and he was awful.

What is this Catcher issue you speak of?

I have been playing mostly NL and haven't noticed anything. I'm using my normal Atlanta Braves Franchise right now playing the second game against the Mets and their starting catcher is in. I will post about the game after I finish. Just a preview thou I got off to a hot start to open the game.

They started Rene Rivera and in the late innings they used Arnaud for a pinch hitter. They did not do a double switch so he pinch hit and he was done. 2 innings later Rene Rivera got on base and they pinch ran for him since he was the go ahead run. That left them without a catcher. So they used Reyes who was the one that ran for him. Every other pitch was a passed ball. When they put Reyes in at Catcher I tried to fix it and switched user teams to sub him out but then realized they did not have another catcher available. It is a glitch in the game that they were suppose to fix with a previous patch I believe.

In that game I got off to a 6-0 start in the 3rd inning with Teheran going and thought I had a easy game to win. Teheran left in the 6th inning giving up 3 runs with 2 runners on base. My bullpen gave up the lead and I was down 7-6 in the 9th before I tied it up and won in extras on a walk off double.

                    Game 1

                    ATL 2 6 1
                    NYM 3 6 0

                    ATL - 2 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 HR, 2 HBP, 1 SF, 0 BB, 4 K's
                    NYM - 2 HR, SAC, GIDP, 0 BB, 11 K's

The error allowed 2 unearned runs to score and the Mets to win

                    Game 2

                    ATL 4 14 0
                    NYM 2 5 1

                    ATL - 2 Doubles, HR, 2 GIDP 0 BB, 5 K's
                    NYM - 2 Doubles, GIDP, 0 BB, 7 K's

The error for the Mets was from Reyes on what usually is called a base hit. so that is new.

We scored all 4 runs in the first inning, and batted around as the fourth run was from the pitcher knocking in an RBI single.

The scoring system is messed up or too generous to the hitters. There are a lot of times that a throw will pull the 1B off the bag and they will rule it a single when the throw would have beat them. But I think since the fielder was in a hurry I think they give him a single cause of that. I could be wrong.

I agree with them being too generous to the hitters. When I noticed that the Mets had an error I had to go back and look at the replay cause I didn't remember there being an error in the inning, and yes it should have been an error, but for the most part before like 99.9% of the time it was always a hit.

I have played 20 games with the Braves on this franchise and I have played about 120 games with the Pirates and have never came across it until now. But I remember reading other people say they had the problem so I was aware of it.

And I just remembered I lowered CPU Solid Hits to 3 cause they were hitting everything off me hard. I tried doing All Star+ for pitching but that seemed to be a little too easy for me.

That is why I like the Infield Fielding Errors at 10 cause most of the time the bobble will be an error. I noticed the error throws are the ones usually called a hit. I think the infield throwing errors at 7 are good but if I'm seeing too many "hits" from them I will lower it.

Right! It seems like the higher I get on pitching the better I am. I'm on HOF for pitching and I give up some runs but not that many. Unless I'm using the Astros. For some reason with them I cannot hit or pitch
