Thanks Armour. So are you saying to put it on auto for the regular season? Currently, at the start of my franchise, I go through every team and trim their rosters to 25 and set their lineups/rotations to as close to real life as possible. I have left 40-man roster to manual. What does this do? I know I get notified whenever any team has an injury and I have to go to go to that team and make the adjustments (call up a player, adjust lineup, etc). Does this stop if I set it to auto?

Correct that stops when set to auto. I have it on auto during the regular season

Thanks again. And I assume that if I’m not as concerned as you are in regards to minor league players, Rule 5, etc. I can just leave it on auto all the time?

Armour, how much do you do for cpu controlled teams at the start of the first year of your franchise? Do you trim the roster down to 25 and set their lineups and rotation? Or do you let the cpu set their lineups/rotations? Thanks

Sup guys! Been using these sliders for years and recently got the itch to fire up the show again and start a new franchise. I simmed 2018 and began in the offseason with the Rockies and am 6 games in to the 2019 season. Absolutely loving it so far- probably going to stick with 18 and not even buy 19- just one issue....

I NEVER walk guys when I am pitching. Barely even get into a 3 ball count. I lowered human pitcher control down to 2 and still see zero walks. Any idea how to fix this to make it a little bit more realistic?

Having some power issues offensively as well, along with very few human fielding/throwing errors, but given the small sample size, gonna give those some more time before I rush to judgement.

Are you using Classic pitching? If yes....you have to not be afraid to throw pitches out of the strike zone against really good hitters. That is how I end up walking guys most of the time. I also issue intentional walks when the situation calls for it.

Also you do need a larger sample size to evaluate baseball stats. Like a huge sample size. One half the season can look entirely different he the other.

I can tell you though that it is a legacy thing with user controlled teams issuing the lowest amount of walks. Not surprising. I live with it.

2017 Yankees Year 3 Hot Stove is heating Up!!!

The Winter Meetings are about to begin and rumors are swirling all over the league. The Yankees are emerging as front runners for Manny Machado's services although the Cubs who traded for him at the deadline are determined to resign him as well as Charlie Blackmon whom they acquired in Year 1 when the Rockies had their roster purge. Also there are strong strong rumors raging through Las Vegas that the Yankees may be involved in a mega multi player deal with the Nationals and the names being thrown around are:

Bryce Harper
Trea Turner
Giancarlo Stanton
Didi Gregorious
Justin Verlander
Shohei Ohtani


Serious stuff here. Can the World Champion NY Yankees get a bit of a face lift
to defend their title? Bryce Harper is looking to command a 25MM plus a year deal. The Yankees would love to add another big lefty power bat. If they make a major deal for Harper it has been said Stanton and Ohtani must be part of the deal. The Gregorious for Turner swap also has been discussed but has not gained a lot of traction as of yet. But the Yankees are in the market for a new leadoff hitter. Jarrod Dyson's team option was not picked up. The Yankees do want work out a 1 year deal for Yankee lifer LF/CF Brett Gardner.

Yankees receive:

RF Bryce Harper
SS Trea Turner
SP Erick Fedde

Nationals receive:

RF Giancarlo Stanton
SS Didi Gregorious
SP Shohei Otani

Major deal here in the making. The Nationals had the best record in baseball in Year 2 (2018) but failed to get out of the NLCS falling to the Dodgers 4 games to 1

The Yankees of course won the World Series but have desired a big lefty bat to compliment Aaron Judge and new star Greg Bird.

Dealing Didi is a tough one as he is a fan favorite. However at 29 and still in team control the chance to get Trea Turner who will immediately fill the lead off spot is too good to pass.

Shohei Ohtani has had two straight injury plauged seasons and the Nationals covet the former Japanese star. Apparently he put this deal over the top for the Nationals.

Stanton who was terrific in his first season as a Yankee is yearning to not be a DH anymore. He barely played in the field last season and also reports are he is not fond of New York city and raising his family there. Despite winning a ring he welcomed a move to Maryland in the nations capitol and a return to the National League.

Once the deal is official we will update the OP with all the winter meeting happenings, trades and notable free agency signings!

Nationals sign Paul Goldschmidt to rich free agent deal!!

It seems as if the Nationals are preparing for life without Bryce Harper.

Their pitching staff looks ridiculous:

Max
Strasburg
Cole
Ohtani

They have Goldschmidt now along with Rendon, Cutch, Eaton and look to land Stanton and Didi.

The deal is basically agreed to in principal and the Nationals are simply awaiting the results of Ohtani’s physical.

I lost 2 minor league 1B in the course of a week. I went to sign a minor league roster fill free agent to a 1 yr 70K deal and it put him on the MLB roster and added him to the 40 man. Now I dont sign from the free agent pool often during the season, but is this common? If he got a minor league deal, shouldnt he have went into AA or AAA and NOT been added to the 40 man? Or is this why you just dont sign free agents during the season?
