How do you guys find cpu manager hook at 2. I feel the starters are being left in too long. Example from last night’s game I played:

    Cole Hamels (CPU) 4.0 IP 4R 11H 3BB 2HR 106P

The 4 runs is reasonable to keep him in but if you take the rest of his line in to account..... I feel like the logic is more score based rather than pitcher performance based.

    Thoughts?

Yeah I kinda was feeling the same way it felt like no matter how good the pitcher is if he gives up a bunch quick they take him out

But I contribute it to me still learning the intricacies of classic pitching and serving up the meatball way more than I should. Btw, I’m on HOF and it’s obviously been challenging to me. But I think I can turn it around before I start tinkering with any slider adjustments. I’m into the first week of May and I’m in 4th place but only 4.5 games out of first.

On another note, I’ve thrown around the idea of taking on a NL franchise. I love my Indians but I do a franchise with them every year and I’m not just overly excited with my franchise so far this year (could be due to my slow start lol). Thinking of doing like Mike and taking a mid level NL team and trying to turn the corner with them (pirates are my front runner).

Back to slider talk...Kid, I would play a bit with classic with sliders as is and report back what you’re seeing. I’m popping in here usually at least once a day and we could compare our experiences.
Ok sounds good! I was just asking because I have seen in here some people who use Classic pitching move the two Human pitching sliders up to 1 or 2.

So I should set up everyone's bullpen like this?

        LR - Blank
        MR - Drake
        MR - Jennings
        MR - Jeffress
        MR - Barnes
        SU - Albers
        SU - Hader
        CL - Knebel

But what about the teams who have 8 man bullpens?

Quick question Mike, your trade slider for August is at 1 then it says 4 for the offseason. I was wondering about September and October. Should it stay at 1 until November?

I abandoned my Indians chise (for now) over the weekend and started a Pirates franchise. I did have hum pitch control and hum pitch consistency both up to 1 in both franchises. Surprisingly through 14 games (8-6) with the Pirates, my ERA is 7th in the league at 3.19, whereas I was near the bottom of the league in ERA with the Indians. I might knock both sliders back down to 0 if my era and base on balls totals stay low but I’m loving this slider set currently.

I also bumped up hum power to 6 about 3 games ago bc I wasn’t seeing many doubles and rarely any homers. But over those 3 games, I’ve seen both but not too many. It feels like it should be to me.

My best advice with these sliders is to play with the set as listed for 10-15 games and then adjust in areas where you feel adjustments are needed. I think this set is tuned very well to get the stats and feel that most of us desire. But each one of us play the game slightly differently so a few tweaks here or there should definitely help get the game dialed in to being a fun but challenging game of baseball. Sometimes losing never felt so good! Lol

I would think you would want to keep it at 1 from August until season’s end and then go up to 4 around winter meetings and then to 5 at the beginning of Spring Training.

Ahh yes everyone just wants to win all the time. But they never think why do they want to win? Because they have lost. Losing is the driving force behind competitive fire, without losing winning doesn't really feel like anything.

Tell me what feels better on this game?

                1. You just won a 9-2 game, to finish up your 20-game win streak.

                Or

                2. You just barely pushed across a run in the 11th to avoid being swept in a 4-game series.

To me it's 2 obviously, I'm likely in the floor throwing fist pumps everywhere yelling ****. Lol

With 1 I'm probably quitting my chise and looking for a completely new slider setup.

You’re right, 15-20 year’s ago, I would have been stoked to dominate my division, sweep every team in the playoffs, and be the leader in every statistical category.

But as a 38 year old that appreciates the ebbs and flows of a digital season, this set gives me the most realistic feel of real baseball while most importantly, making it challenging and fun. Every win in my season feels earned and that definitely brings me more joy than being a digital powerhouse like back in my High Heat and MVP baseball days.

Haha I'm only 26 but that's exactly my baseball gaming storyline, doing nothing but dominating and breaking records on MVP, High Heat, Triple Play, and All-star baseball.

But now it's all about realism and as much accuracy as I can possibly get.

Oh and the other baseball game Schilling was on the cover of that time.

Why? I love a realistic slider set, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love going on a 20 game win streak. Extended win streaks happen all the time IRL.

It was supposed to be more on the track of like a 20-0 start to the season that would probably end with you going like 132-30 or so.

That Sounds like some boring winning to me.

Mike took CPU solid hits down one. In my experience with this set so far. I believe CPU solid hits should go up one. In my last eight games, the CPU hasn't got more than five hits and two runs.

Well, yea I wouldn't want to go 132-30 either but 13, 15, or a 20 game win streak. If I could do that I’d be thrilled.

Exactly that's my point though, the reason you'd be so enthused about that winning streak is because you have played and lost already.
