Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

Is anyone else seeing abominable relief pitching in the game? I have the Yankees, who are arguably the best relief corps in the game and they are just getting shellacked. I am at the point where I am afraid to even bring in guys from my bullpen. I can pitch 6-7 incredible innings only for the CPU to mount some ludicrous comeback against the likes of Betances, Green, Robertson, and even Chapmen. Now I know I shouldn't expect perfection, but 30+ games in these guys should not all have ERAs bordering on 5? IT almost feels scripted or a glitch? Btw, I love these sliders and I don't think it has anything to do with them, but this is starting to completely ruin the game for me. If anyone has any recommendations, please share.

I have actually started using a HOF set. Very similiar to another set on the forum...except my pitching at 3/4 and hitting default except timing at 4 and foul at 3......CPU default except control at 4 and fouls at 4. Complete clean screen. Stats looking very good and amazing variety.

I actually have the opposite problem right now. My Marlins have lost 6 in a row and are 4 games out of the wildcard w 24 games to play.

We actually just got no-hit by Gio Gonzalez!

I'm seeing really low ERA's by bullpens, and I've probably ran sims 75% of the games, and played 25% of the games using your sim sliders (SP/RP stamina) for sims and normal when I play. Any ideas?

Got it, but can I ask what changes from the OP you made before you switched? Again Directional/Classic player here.

              Howdy, Mike...

Is there a slider (or two) which you’re looking at/considering adjusting? Or, are these “18” sliders pretty firm right now?

              As always, thanks!

I'm always keeping an eye on things. The only ones I'm really watching currently are CPU solid hits (possibly down 1 notch), and IF fielding errors (possibly down 1, but I actually think the issue here is fielder reaction might need to be bumped up 1 notch instead).

But for now, things are evening out. What I'm keeping an eye on are from a statistics standpoint:

Too many singles by the AI. They seem to string together a series of hits on too many occasions. These are mostly line drives with no chance of making a play on them. Then again, it's mostly the better teams, so perhaps the issue is moot. If there is an issue, it would be from either solid hits being too high, or fielder reaction being too low (although this will impact user hitting too), or possibly a combo.

IF errors...not as much. The NUMBER of errors is absolutely fine on auto fielding, but I'm wanting to see IF make more plays on groundballs hit to them that they "0h lay!" which are then scored as "hits" thus increasing the hit totals.

All of this has to take into account the team's BABIP.

For now, nothing major, and I know a lot of folks are making minor tweaks for themselves, which is ideal.

I was wondering about fielder reaction for the outfield it seems like sometimes the out fielder will literally start walking when trying to go after a ball but I kinda thinking that was because I had the wrong guy playing that position like it was the players last choice In his 2nd position list

Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '18 Sliders

We have our annual jealousy negative votes happening in this thread, so if you're enjoying the sliders and want to help others, please vote this thread up.

It baffles me why there is hate/jealousy and negative energy in a video game forum/thread, but be grateful you're in a position in life where you're above it. We have some great folks in this thread, and I know I've talked to a lot of you about life etc during streams, and it's a great place to be at when you're just happy and pushing yourself to reach your potential at whatever it is you're doing. As my signature says, be fulfilled, be magnanimous, be grateful. And keep working at it!

Thanks for the votes, and also for the wonderful feedback up in the Vault. We're all helping folks play a baseball game a little bit better, and while that's not a huge deal n the grand scheme, it's something positive for the community that I'm proud to be a part of.

I'm fine with OF reaction. We need it for XBH and for the slower runner speed (which we need to limit the IF singles that are happening on default).

So have you noticed any walking in the outfield

I've seen it, but if we have it at default, you'd be asking me "Have you had any hits drop in? My BABIP is wayyyyyy too low!"

I just went in and voted 5 stars for the other top slider sets here. I don't see this as a competition whatsoever, and if folks are getting more enjoyment out of something (rosters, sliders, etc.), that's fantastic, and I'm glad folks are willling to put in their own personal time to help.

Be a part of the solution...that simple change can get you pretty far in life...
