Hope it helps, I haven't used Directional in a while so I am no expert at it. But I guess trying it can't be worse than a double play until real directional help gets here lol. KB is definitely the one to talk to about that.

      Thanks for the help.

Okay so I’m using Meter pitching on Legend. I was giving up way too many home runs and the run distribution was like over 60% from home runs. I gave up 7 HR in 3 games but their BABIP was at .319 which is good but a little on the high side. So I took CPU power down to 5 and I gave up 2 HR in 5 games with their BABIP at .229. It was against the White Sox and Tigers so I don’t know if it was from weak teams and good pitching or I nerfed the CPU too much. I went to raise CPU power to 6 and the Tigers hit 2 HR, 2 doubles, and a single in one inning before I saved it and stopped playing. Should I keep trying with power at 5 or should I maybe move contact to 3? Or should I try to do all sliders the same as Fenway and move down to HOF?

Man that's always a tough question without actually playing it and seeing it. I don't claim to have the "right" answer but I can give input based on my experience. How many games did you play before you changed power to 5?

My first thought is that with Power at 5, and with Contact at 2, it might cause the CPU to be a little anemic. With Contact at 2 i think the CPU might need that extra pop of 6 or 7 power. If it were me, and I had to change something, I might try Power at 6, but also ride it out for several games. It almost seems like every time I change a slider I get false readings for a game or so, then it settles down. It's just the volatility of baseball.

How do you feel like you are pitching? Are you missing your spots and catching too much of the plate too often? Out of curiosity check your deep strikes in the analysis tool after the game. It's not the end-all but it might indicate if you are giving them too many hittable pitches. Make sure you are pitching around the Mike Trouts and other power guys when you can. Make the little guys beat you.

Fenway will probably have some different input or ideas, but these are just my initial thoughts for now.

I feel that the balance of low contact to high power is vital towards creating an accurate computer attack. Otherwise the computer will hit nothing but weak grounders around the field or pound EVERYTHING if you swing the contact slider the other direction.

But I believe that on Legend the CPU is going to find a way, regardless, to get back in the games. Proper pitching technique to keep batters off-balance is extremely important. Managing your pitchers if the get low confidence, calling mound visits, intentionally walking batters. It’s all a dance.

I have found that if you can get off to a strong start with your pitcher that the subsequent innings are easier...until around the sixth when you need to have your end-game strategy in place because the game will do everything to steal it from you. Happened to me last game.

I use meter pitching on legend and have cpu contact at 1 and their power at 6. mistakes get paid for. i walk guys because i miss my target. i strike guys out. it took me a long time but i wanted to find the balance. i used may slider sets here as my starting point and research, but thought that i'm gonna just lower cpu contact to 1 - and then see what happens. they still get hits. i felt i had to box myself into what other here thought, so i found that anything higher than 0 on my end with pitching, and i was simply too good (and I LOVE meter pitching). but I had to get a balance of the cpu hitting against me - at 2, i never gave up less than 12 hits a game. at 1 - the game came to life. so maybe try something out of the box and see how it goes for you. slider sets here are not a bible to follow - they are guides to help us based on what people see. but sometimes you have to try your own and see how it goes, and not concern yourself with the opinion of others. the goal is simulation and FUN - and too many times, we perfectionists here, don't have fun playing the games - and partly because we use the slider sets provided here and believe those are the only options.

Thank you for the input. I love how I can ask a question and you guys are right there trying to help me. I use Quick Counts so I think that analys tools aren’t accurate. It just seemed in those 3 games that the home runs were mostly wall scrapers and in the first row.

I will try a couple games at 2/6 and see if they even out. Another reason was that after 3 games 20% of their hits were home runs.

You know, another option you may want to consider is the HUM pitching sliders. Mine are pretty low, but I have used meter for years. If you give up a lot of hits or bombs, look at the feedback after the pitch and see if it was remotely close to where you aim. If not I would recommend moving your pitch control up a notch or two. Don’t mess with the consistency unless you are throwing a ton of meatballs or wild pitches. Strong slider.

                    re: meter pitching

learning the function of the meter - how it works on different pitches, the different usages of the bars, what makes a pitch go high or low / inside or outside - is part of the fun. like in real MLB, sometimes you even get rewarded for a mistake pitch because the cpu will indeed chase. i guess like a real pitcher, some days i can get the meter (even with it at 0) to work right with me - ie. "you have the feel" - and some days i'm all over the map.

Absolutely! I like the interfaces where I feel most in control of the outcomes, and meter pitching results will definitely vary based on my focus during that game. I also use zone for this reason, I want to feel that (for the most part) I influenced the outcome.

Hey KB, you said you like to use the influence down button when you swing to keep the fly ball rate in control. Do you do that every at bat?

So I played 2 games at 2/6 and I lost 4-2 to the Tigers and then lost 17-3 against the A’s.

                          Tigers 4 9 0 8 singles, 1 double
                          Yankees 2 5 0 3 singles, 1 double, 1 HR

                          Yankees 3 7 1 2 singles, 3 doubles, 2 HR
                          Athletics 17 18 0 12 singles, 2 doubles, 4 HR

Archer who came in with a 2.97 ERA gave up a 9 run 3rd. Just couldn’t get them out. Montgomery gave up 8 runs in 2 innings in relief. It was such a horrible game.

Crawling back home after dropping four of six on the road. I have a nice nine-game home stand to right the ship with a .500 record. A fresh start it’s starting to get to the point where I start to deliver more consistently or wave the flag and begin the rebuild.

Making some moves to bolster the team

                            Signed Trevor Rosenthal
Signed Jon Lackey ( Cole is out at least two starts)
                            Promoted Bo Schultz for AAA
Demoted Mitch Keller to AAA for a toxic attitude
                            Promoted Jose Osuna for AAA

Both David Freese and Josh Harrison are due back to the lineup from the DL in five days

Do you guys have a player on your team that your are just at wits end with? That guy more me is Starling Marte. Every time he steps up I feel like I could do some damage with him, only to have him pop up or strike out. And then just when I give up I rack up a HR or run-scoring double with him. So inconsistent. I almost want to trade him but he brings speed at center and lots of steals. Just don’t know what to do.

I have that with Andujar. I can’t even hit him above .200. At this point I don’t know if I should trade him for pitching in the offseason or give him another chance next year. Torres isn’t that much better he’s hitting only .215.

My Yankees are 79-60 on September 5th. We are 8.5 games behind the Red Sox in the division and in the first wild card spot by 4 games. Right now the Mariners have the 2nd by 3 games. I play them next for a big 3 game series in Seattle. They always play me tough.
