    Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

Okay what are your thoughts on this. I have played with these sliders for 14 games. I am averaging 1.7 HR per game. 2 of the games I had 4 and 2 games I had 3. My BABIP is .294 so that is perfect. My average is .265. So that is okay.

But look at the hit distribution.
    Singles: 55.2%
    Doubles: 24.8%
    Triples: 0.8%
    Home Runs: 19.2%

    Scoring plays:
    Singles: 23.1%
    Doubles: 13.5%
    Triples: 0%
    Home Runs: 50%
    Walks: 1.9%
    Sac Fly: 0%
    Other: 11.5%

I’m concerned with the 50% home run rate. My doubles are a little low. But I am the Yankees too.

Very frequently unless a power (85+) hitter is at the plate. Then I do up influence or no influence.

Most of my influencing is left/right with down mixed in. Depends on his hit chart or if I'm trying to beat the shift if I go left or right.

Just about anyone under 60 power in that split is getting the down influence. 60-80, I'm more apt to go no influence. If I up influence (and I do even though people say it sucks, just like I power swing, even though people say you shouldn't), it's with high 80's-90+ power guys.

I mix in left/right if trying to beat the shift on up influence. Like with Gallo or my fictional Bo Winter - it's Up+Away whenever the shift is on them.

If they happen to shift against a guy with 75-80 power, I'll go Down+Away. Try for a liner or hard grounder in the wide open space.

On the topic of GIDPs - everything is on table for me.

If I'm anywhere except the 3-4-5 hitters (and even then, depending on the roster), the bunt is always an option (which is why the "bunt fix" extra pisses me off).

Moving the runners is always an option. Hit-and-run,straight steals - I'll do often.

Up influence is a maybe...but it can sometimes cause grounders because of weak contact or off timing. Mostly, it's pitch selection because even up influence can only do so much if the pitcher is making swing at low stuff.

Of course, it doesn't always work out. I've hit into 2 DPs in this game I'm playing, partly because I got away from those first two things above. The last one that ended my rally (fortunately I'm ahead 3-1) is because I didn't bunt and I should have. So 100% my fault as the manager, honestly.

Can't blame the interface or the game or the sliders for my own failed "AI".

Stat-oriented as I am, I don't get too involved with hit distribution. There's so many factors involved, both in the real game and this game, and the lack of a split between a doubles hitter and a HR hitter (we only have one power rating) and your own team construction is going to play a lot into it.

For example, I tend to draft-develop-acquire players that have mobility. Maybe not outright burners (though I'll go after them, like I signed Dee Gordon in my Red Sox carryover and my old carryover Marlins have speed on them), but guys who aren't statues for the most part. Those guys can pick up triples, especially in the parks I play in (Griffith, Coors, Fenway).

Fine with me. What objective basis will I use when there's no real team constructed like mine?

As for the HR - you have the 2018 Yankees? With Judge and Stanton and Sanchez and Gregorious and Bird and Torres and Hicks?

In that park? ESPN has it as a 1.10 factor for HR and Fangraphs has it as the most HR friendly last season at 112.

Should we expect anything different, especially if you're also hitting more fly balls with those guys?

Okay so are these sliders all set up the same as my current settings, or if you have any variations, what are they? Are you using zone hitting and meter pitching

I am using directional hitting and meter pitching. All the sliders are the same except for human contact is at 7.

The game I lost 17-3 I raised human control to 3 and gave up 8 more runs. Then the next game they had 14 hits in the first 4 innings so I lowered the pitching control to 1 and have CPU contact/power at 1/7.

So disclaimer that I don’t use directional hitting from what I understand there is more of a randomness to the results, but assuming the results came from a large sample of keeping the hitting sliders exactly the same throughout, it looks like the best slider for you to change hitting-wise would actually be the power slider. If you are happy with your average, then i would not mess with contact or timing. You can also try to make CPU pitching tougher by raising CPU contact, consistency and pitch speeds to challenge yourself a bit more.

I have it with Odor. But he is playing like Odor of 2017, despite his ratings, so its kind of realistic. He still has some pop, but his average stinks at .200. But the important thing is his babip stinks too. He has been extremely "unlucky" when he hits the ball hard. I look for him to start coming around soon, especially since i looked at his fly ball ratio. It was way too high, meaning i am getting under too many balls with him. The plan going forward has been to hit grounders and line drives until i can get him back on track. Then maybe start trying to get under the ball again on hitters counts, after he starts producing a little better. Right now i just need to get that Cold Snowflake off of his name.

I need to think up a trade package for Marte that I would not feel guilty about executing. I have force trades on so I can have anybody, but don’t want to ruin the pirate team feel. I think Marte/Harrison for Trout/Altuve sounds legit

When I try to use zone I don’t strike out that much. With Directional I average about 7-9 a game. But I don’t get that with zone. I might just try a couple games using zone.

Thats interesting because that is opposite of what i usually hear. Low strikeouts is also one of the first reasons i went to zone. It has probably gotten better since i last used it though.

I think that trade sounds reasonable. Not sure you are getting enough though.... Do you have any C-potential guys in A-ball that you could trade for Max Scherzer?lol

                            fan interference.

So I had my PlayStation on rest mode when my son decided it was time to play Minecraft. As a result my last game (a win) turned into a replay of the game, which turned out to be a walkoff loss (of course).

Stats have been adjusted to protect the innocent. Homestand is now that much more important.

                              Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

So I played a huge series against the Mariners. I came in 8.5 games behind the Red Sox. Was up to 13 at one point in August. The Yankees have the first wild card spot by 5 games going into the series. Mariners had a 3 game lead over the Twins for the 2nd. I loved how the announcers kept talking about how this could very well be a preview of the wild card playoff game. And how it’s a must win for each team. I used zone with the sliders exact to the OP. Except for the cpu contact/power is 1/6.

                              Game 1
                              Yankees 2 6 1 1 HR, 3 BB, 8 K
                              Mariners 1 6 0 1 HR, 2 BB, 12 K
It was a 0-0 tie in 10 innings. Judge hit a 2 run HR in the 10th and they hit a solo shot off Chapman.

                              Game 2
                              Yankees 6 13 0 2 2B, 1 HR, 5 BB, 13 K
                              Mariners 4 13 0 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 1 BB, 16 K
This game went into the 13th inning. It was a great game. Yankees had a 2-1 lead in the 7th inning and I left Tanaka in for too long and he gave up 2 HR to give them a 4-2 lead. We had a rbi double in the 8th to make it 4-3 and Bird hit a game tying HR in the 9th. Bird also had the go ahead single in the 13th.

                              Game 3
                              Yankees 6 10 0 2 2B, 2 HR, 5 BB, 9 K
                              Mariners 1 5 0 2 2B, 0 BB, 13 K
Game was 2-1 when Higashioka hit a grand slam in the 6th to make it 6-1.

                              BABIP for the series
                              Yankees: .287
                              Mariners: .274

                              Avg for the series
                              Yankees: .242
                              Mariners: .202

The Yankees are now only 5.5 games behind the Red Sox after they got swept by Houston. And we have 6 games with them yet. It will be a very interesting last 19 games.

Oh no! Lol. Been there. Thats the worst.

I gave my buddy a really hard time over it early in the season. He had lost a game, and left the PS4 on. But his wife ejected the disc before he saved it. He replayed it and won. How convenient! Since he and i kind of "compete", everytime he loses a tough game i make a comment about him leaving it on so she will eject it. It's been a running joke with all season. Sometimes he will say he lost but he's hoping she watches a blu ray later.
