After an early season trade with the Cubs to reacquire him, it's time to move on now.

Adonis Medina will now be keeping his spot in the rotation, and Hamels spot will go to Aaron Nola who will be activated from the IL in just a few days.

We will look to trade Hamels now, but if no deal can be reached, he will be released.

We are 68-64 on the season with 4 days left in August and trail the Nationals by 3 games in the NL East. This next month is crucial including a 4 game series against the Nationals. It's division or bust as we are 7 games back for the second Wild Card spot.

These kind of decisions can be the hardest as a Show GM when a guy who you really like IRL performs way below your expectations. I have several guys whose numbers are so bad compared to my built in expectations that it has taken a lot of the fun out of my franchise experience. I'm trying to embrace this anyways and find ways to keep this fresh and fun. How do you approach situations like this and keep having fun?

Ugh what a bad session today has been . I spent a little over 6 hours playing 5 games and lost 4 out of the 5 . But it's the way that I lost these games that has me frustrated , 2 games I lost to a walk of homer by some player who has like 30 power with horrible contact and was 0-3 or 0-4 at the plate before hitting those walk off home runs . But the positive is that both my new additions Corey Knebel and Jose Leclerc are overall off to a good start in our 2nd season .

Tell me about it, my staff just gave up 39 hits over two games as we stumble into the all star break at 45-45. We are 20.5 GB of LA in the division and 7.5 back in the wild card division. Really needed those 2 games. The trade deadline will be very interesting. I hope to stay close enough to try and add a bat to make a run at the wild card game. But if we fall further back by the end of July it will be time to start looking towards 2020. I've got trade chips to do both, either add a piece or two or get some nice prospects.

What's ur ERA looking like now ? And 7.5 gb isn't all that bad yet , still got time to make up some ground. U have any transfer targets ? I've heard San Fran is interested in Puig , don't know how true this is But that would be a solid addition .

Well I actually took your advice and decided to stick it out with my original franchise and abandoned my restart. Team era is around 3.90. I am ranked 30th in speed and I need a right handed bat. Puig is on the Indians who are in 1st place so he is not on my radar. I have been talking to Baltimore about Johnathan Villar and I can get him for a reasonable price. I also have interest in Mondesi and Soler from KC who would require a package of top prospects. I'm going to most likely wait it out until July 31st to see if I'm still in striking distance. If not I will almost certainly deal Will Smith for a major league ready prospect. I might even do it if I'm winning because I have faith my bullpen can pick up the slack if a deal good enough presents itself. I have a lot of options right now which actually has made it very hard to decide which way to go. But also very interesting and fun.

Cant go wrong with Mondessi , switch hitter with elite speed and solid defensive play . What about Whit Merrifield? It would probably take alot to get him but that would be a awesome player to get .

I would love Merrifield. I can get him but it will cost me two top prospects. I do have 4 prospects in the top 50 and I would be willing to part with one for the right package. Merrifield offers speed, versatility and a great hitter. But I may need a power hitter more. I'm near dead last in home runs. Also Merrifield is 30 and I need to get younger. But I can see him keeping his skills for several years. I've had him on my radar since spring training.

Yeah he can still be a top quality player for a few years and u might still get a decent return if you were to trade him after 2 or 3 seasons . Have u thought about Ketel Marte? He had a monster season in real life , hit 30+ homers and is a switch hitter with power , great contact vision clutch and all of the above . Can play anywhere in the outfield with speed and solid fielding and also can play 2nd base. Throwing arm isn't the best and accuracy can be off at times but he is incredible overall . It's weird how little trade value he actually has in my Franchise , I can get him for Teoscar Hernandez and I was on that trade screen so many times just ready to make the deal happen but never did . There's some great options out there , whatever choice u make let us know . I like hearing about other players gameplay and how the franchise is going .

Few updates. We were able to swing a trade on waiver deadline day with the Rockies. The Rockies will receive Cole Hamels and the Phillies receive 32 year old LHP Chris Rusin. The Rockies had a need for a starter for the final month after losing Anthony Senzatela to the IL with a torn groin. The Phillies have optioned Rusin to Triple-A for a few days until rosters expand after the Minor League season is finished in 3 days. This means Rusin will not be playoff eligible IF in fact we do make the playoffs. However, he is eligible for Arbitration after the season so if he pitches well down the stretch he could be tendered a contract. Rusin is 4-2 with a 2.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 84 IP.

In other news, we have lost 3 straight games while the Nationals have won 3 straight games. We are now 5 games back in the NL East with roughly a month to go. We need to stay in this thing so that the 4 game series with the Nationals the last week of the season has meaning. After taking 2 of 3 from the Marlins, we lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates and the first game of the series with the Mets. We are 5-5 in our last 10 and 68-66 on the season. There have been some very good offensive performances this season, but overall I feel like the season has not met expectations whatsoever. I am already beginning to think about my offseason moves.

Aaron Nola was also activated from the IL after a lengthy stint and will pitch the second game of the series with the Mets.

Yes I've definitely considered Marte but the D-Backs are leading the wild card division. So they'd never move him and I'm not into robbing the cpu of their chances.
Johnathan Villar can do everything Marte can do but with a little less power and a little more speed. Plus the O's don't want much in return. He's my top target right now provided I can stay in the race. I haven't had a winning streak longer then 4 games so it's questionable whether this team can get hot and reel off wins for any period of time which impacts my decision to buy or sell at the deadline.

Hey Armor - I just finished up my 2018 season, and purchased MLBTS 19 last weekend. Per usual, I plug in your sliders, don't overthink it and never look back.

The ONLY thing that didn't meet my initial eye test was baserunning speed.
They all seemed just a little too fast. I am leery moving it down for fear it will impact other areas of the game, thus officially entering slider hell.

Do you know notice the same thing, but since all other areas play so well it's worth dealing with or have I missed an update where you lowered baserunning speed to 4?

                            Thanks in advance,

Ok I guess SDS needs to fix that. I guess it was a stupid question after reading your post but I was asking having in mind the rule changes concerning bullpen use next year and wondering how reliable SDS is at adding those things.
