This is my approach at the plate as well, but my jittery *** sees pitches that are near or on the corners as "down the middle" way too much for me to be effective most of the time lol.

On a different note, i just had the best draft pick i have ever had since i started using my house rules: I do not do any scouting or discovery and draft 100% blind. Planning on keeping him in AA for a year and then let him become my starting 1B of the future. He has 89 potential btw.
I recently got a 75 overall shortstop, 19 years old, 95 potential. At work so I don't have the picture.
Nice pick though!Funkycorm

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Since I don’t scout or discover, the draft seems to be much more random across the board which I like. For example, in this draft a number of cpu teams got low Bs and high Cs in the later rounds.
There are still the “blue chip” guys who are automatically fully scouted at the beginning of the season. They always go in the first 10-15 picks depending on how many of them are in that draft.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
So I bumped down to all star and I’m enjoying the feel. But i think I’m getting too many hits. 12+ in four straight games. I’m gonna play a few more because I haven’t hit strong pitching yet. But if I were to make a change what would you advise? -1 on contact maybe?Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I am not trying to be mean at all, I have read about 100 post from you on here.
Its time for an intervention. lol
Maybe your just not very good at the show?
Maybe you are trying to play on a skill level that you just cant play on?
Your trying to use a set that a particular guy is using and its quite obvious your not as good as him.
Believe me I get it. I am not near as good at Madden as a lot of the slider makers on that forum. I had to admit it and use one of the less hard slider sets the last few years.
Again not knocking you but your not having fun by reading your post.
Lower the level to ALL STAR and the sliders too if need be.
Enjoy the game and not worry too much if your stats are not perfect.
It kills me when I see guys say they are sticking with a set of sliders even if the set isn't working for them.
Adjust..Play..Have Fun!Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
It's cool man. I'm not offended. I started on All-star with this set. I was having the same issues for awhile. I moved up to HOF with my thought process being that's where Armor likely does all his testing so maybe it would make a difference. It did until the patch that happened shortly after. I was hitting much better and seeing a variety of hit types. After that patch everything is weakly hit. Nothing in the gap and very few home runs. Plus the damn 2 run hex I seem to have lol. I said somewhere in my many posts I hadn't played since 13 and baseball isn't my top sport. So that's likely some of my issue. That said I've played multiple games with the feedback on just to check and I get a ton of weak hits with good swing timing and contact. I have no trouble adjusting the set to my skill level if that's the issue. I'm just trying to pinpoint my exact issue. Hitting with any kind of pop is really my only problem. I get a ton of singles and I can pitch great.
It is not the patch....nope.Now Playing on PS5:

I'm sure you're right. That's just when it changed for me. Before the patch I was hitting the best I ever had. I'm gonna start adjusting the timing slider game by game. I think that's my issue.Comment

Things are working just fine with the patch. HOF is probably a little beyond my skill level but I enjoy the challenge. I don’t want to win 110 games with a team who shouldn’t. I love the realism.Currently Playing

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I usually don’t chime in too much about “how I play” because I feel like I play a lot different that most people as far as what works for me. As crazy as this sounds, if you’re still struggling hitting, try raising the pitch speed. I was at 5,6 and was literally early on everything. Even 100mph fastballs. I play HOF with both pitch speeds at 10 and I play better that way. I simply react. My brain couldn’t handle sitting back on fastballs for some reason.
Just food for thought.

This was me at the beginning of the season this year. Habitually I’ve always turned pitch speeds down to give myself more time to react, but for some reason this year I felt like I had too much time to think about swinging and was late on everything. I was sitting back waiting for every pitch no matter what the speed. Sounds backwards but it makes sense.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Finally broke out of my RISP slump. I’d gone 0-17 over the last 3 games which was a sweep at home at the hands of the Brewers. I got a go ahead single with 1 out and a runner on 3rd in the 6th by Conforto, only to give the lead right back on a homer by Puig the next inning. Thankfully my bullpen pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings and a solo homer by Cano in the bottom of the 8th was the eventual game winner. Diaz walked the leadoff man in the 9th but then proceeded to strike out the next 3 hitters in dominant fashion to nail down the save.
I made sure i really focused at the plate in this one. Taking pitches, some borderline strikes for the backwards K but it really helped me get into some good hitters counts and set myself up for success, even though I still struggled at time. A plus for me is I was putting the ball in play with RISP rather than striking out. Small victory but a step in the right direction.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Out of curiosity, have you considered trying dynamic difficulty with the sensitivity set to 8-10? It will get you past the low levels fast. Sometimes the + difficulty is right for someone. Last year I was on all star+ but this year it was rough for me so I went to all star.
Once you feel comfortable, you can turn sensitivity down to 0 to lock you in. Maybe veteran+ is a sweet spot for you. If anything, it may restore some confidence in your hitting.
I can't handle HoF. I have no shame in that. I play to have fun and I personally could not on HoF.
Just a suggestion to hopefully help.Last edited by Funkycorm; 05-29-2019, 04:21 PM.Funkycorm

Hi ! Same thing for me ! I play better with ball speed at 10 (Armor’s settings + sliders)
And I personally think that the speed at 10 is closer to what I can see when I watch the matches on TV…Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I have played on All Star hitting and pitching so far. Currently two months of played games in my Blue Jays franchise and sitting 11 games over .500. I’m second in the AL East and 1st in the WC by 4 games. The past three weeks I have been destroying the ball and every game has been pretty much an easy win.
Made the switch to HOF finally. Firstly, lost 3-1 to the Rays with Snell on the mound which is understandable.
Next, two games in Colorado. First game I lost 5-2. Was up 2-1 and my bullpen blew it in the 8th. The second game I was up 5-1 going into the fifth and it came apart. A lot of back and forth the rest of the game but managed to lose 10-7.
I know I’m 0-3 since on HOF but I feel I could have won either game. Scoring 1, 3 and 7 runs is encouraging. I expected to score less against a hot Snell and Marquez but then knocked around a cold Tyler Anderson. It’s made me more patient at the plate as well because I know I have to get myself In hitters counts.
A lot of hit variety as well. The game that I scored 2 runs in were both solo shots. The game I scored 7 was a mix of singles, doubles, a two homer game by Grichuck and even a triple by Drury.
I will keep going at this level for a month or so and see what my record is. If losing every game I might try altering some of the sliders on HOF, but we will see what the results are!
