By the way, I’m using the OP sliders but with HoF hitting, AS pitching, Human Timing at 4, and CPU Contact at 5.

I’m actually really curious about your overall hitting stats bc that’s my exact hitting set. Kinda hoping I die down soon. I’m hitting atleast 3 HRs a game it seems.

Really appreciate your approach to these sliders, and how you explain the rationale behind each choice.

How do you think these would work with Pure Analog hitting and analog pitching? I understand almost all feel that classic and buttons allow for the best representation of ratings. I'm fine sacrificing that aspect. To me, there is something very satisfying about smashing a bomb with the stick that I don't get from just clicking a button.

First of all, thank you for reading the OP and acknowledging the concern I express in the FAQ regarding other interfaces up-front, much appreciated!

To your question, I tried out analog hitting like once when it was first introduced so I forget. Does it include a user controlled PCI (like zone)? If the answer is no, then PCI placement will be dictated more by ratings like it is for directional. If that is the case, then you'd essentially be using the stick in a manner similar to a directional user does with the buttons and I'd have fewer concerns with how things "cross-over". If it does include a controllable PCI, how well the sliders work for you will be entirely dependent on your skill level. You might have to adjust difficulties as such (again, just use the OP setup).

Analog pitching I am a little more familiar with. You might be able to hit your spots too regularly with it. If that DOES happen (and give it a bunch of games with differently-rated pitchers), do NOT lower the control slider as it will jack-up the CPU's hitting approach. Instead, bump up the difficulty to HOF or Legend (with the OP sliders "as is").
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Really appreciate the feedback! I'm a bit more open to trying different interfaces for pitching, so maybe I'll just do that.

Pure Analog doesn't have a controlable PCI, so it's all user based. I do play with guess pitch on, and I do think that impacts PCI placement just a bit.

Others have had VERY bad experiences with 'guess pitch' on....I highly recommend turning that setting off....

LOL, I have a love/hate relationship with those sorts of games. On one hand, it sucks to give that up. On the other hand, getting knocked down a peg makes those well-pitched games feel SO much better....

Definitely, I was yelling at my tv the entire game. Very fun game to play despite the 14-6 whooping I took. Probably the most fun I’ve had yet

As I understand it, you're essentially getting arbitrarily punished (or boosted) for picking right/wrong (it has nothing to do with either user skill OR player rating). Identifying pitches and their location is already part of hitting....

I've never personally used it, it's too 'arcadey' for my tastes, I am going strictly off of what others have commented on in this and other threads. The more of that arbitrary stuff you turn off (like strike zone, ball marker, etc.) the more pure the gameplay is. This is why I highly recommend turning all of that stuff off in the OP setup (that is as much a part of the setup as the sliders).

Yeah guess pitch is just something that was introduced to me when the game was introduced to me years and years ago. I can't imagine playing without it, to me it's a fun element of the game.

I typically only guess location not pitch, and play with the setting that gives the most minimal boost/nerf based on guess.

In my experience having guess pitch ON gives bonuses to each pitch thrown. Therefore throwing the sim feel right out. If you are correct on the guess you will receive a bonus to the good. If you are incorrect you will see a negative impact on that pitch.

I turned it OFF and the difference is night and day. I was struggling to hit and thought guess pitch would help me but in fact it was hurting my average more than anything because i would guess wrong most of the time or not even guess a pitch.

I really cant emphasize the difference in my game after turning it off. It was a game changer.

For what its worth I've been back and fourth between armors set and josh but im an all star player not HOF so armors set just didnt gel with me. Then Josh released his set and i quickly tried it. At first i did like it but things felt off. After a couple patches and me discovering the guess pitch problem the game started to get some life and i was seeing the potential this game has to be great. I still was seeing some issues then josh released his find on contact to 6.

Since then this game has been playing fantastic. Im using OP as is and dont want to change a thing. Ive been locked in and loving it. EVERY single game feels different and the 6 contact has really brought ratings into play at the plate. Now i really have to pay attention to who is up and how i pitch. Its great.

Also i think with the amount of information on this forum and people are still struggling with sliders and difficulty you may be deep in the rabbit hole of slideritis and chasing ghosts. Just play the game, play may games. Enjoy the variety. Your results will come. Its a video game. Remember that!

I do use quick counts. I have not had an issue with it. (Josh doesnt reccommend it)

I just dont have the time to do every pitch. I prefer qc because im not patient at the plate and i can draw walks. Lol. It fits with my gameplay style and i believe it has no impacts to his slider set good or bad.

Also i was in the same boat on guess pitch. I have played with it ON every year till just now. Trust me it takes time to get rid of that muscle memory of guessing a pitch but im to the point now where ill never turn it back on because of the negative impact and how i struggled with it on.

Stats wont be perfect and you will see runs of big hits, strong pitching, cold streaks, hot streaks and etc. At the end of a played 162 games, you will see close to accurate comparable stats. They may not match real mlb, but nothing is outrageous and most to all are competitively compared. Play it as your universe. After all, you will make deals and do things that real life aren't doing. That's the glory of this game. Its one of the things I love. It allows you to play out your own senerios. Maybe a team would never get this player or that, but you work out a deal and can. That's what this game is about. Armors and Josh's sliders make the playing fun. Also, both sliders are base sets. They are set up for them and the level they play. Both are excellent starting points. For your gameplay and experience, you tweak to your personal preference. I would not stray far from either set numbers, but sometimes, that's all it takes to make it for your own enjoyment.
Yeah I know exact realism isn't possible. I seek out sliders on sports games to get as close as possible. Trust me I know all about driving myself crazy with them. I've done it on 2K. The game is a blast right now and I appreciate the efforts Armor and Josh put in.
