They are extremely aggressive early in the count and on 2 strikes especially 3-2 counts. That’s why they don’t walk nearly enough. I usually go pretty hard for strikeouts so my pitch count numbers aren’t too bad. If they see you consistently trying to attack the strike zone early, they’ll start swinging more early.

I’m getting relatively low pitch counts on the User side. Averaging maybe 10-12 pitches an inning. Sometimes less. Has anyone else had this problem?
I’m not pitching particularly liberal either. I make sure to attack hitters, but I put together a realistic game plan for each batter I face. I feel like the CPU is way too aggressive, especially early in the count.

I loaded up on pitchers with high velocity and K/9 potential in the draft. Hopefully they’ll pan out.

Ever since I turned vibration off I stopped having this problem. Also I almost always pitch for a strikeout which runs pitch counts up, it's just my style.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Working on some tweaks.
Stealing bases is an exercise in futility this cycle. I mean really bad.
So we moved up steal ability to 7 and turned down pickoff to 4. We are testing. I also am going to start getting one extra step and seeing if that is really needed as I feel it probably is now. So since that is needed I moved pick off ability down to 4 to offset this deficiency we are seeing now after a ton of sample size.
The jumps are simply 90% of the time awful. No matter what I try. I am going to report this as a bug and see what response I get as well.
Trea Turner who I swiped over 40 bags with in Year 3 has been CS 11 times now against 8 steals. that is simply not right. He is not that bad. He is one of the better base stealers in the league. The CPU has no problem stealing. This is a user issue and it is starting to annoy me.
I may have found a nice tweak "on the fly" solution after Gagnon suggested reducing CPU hook when you have real deal pitchers or for that matter any pitcher pitching a shutout or simply in your judgement having a great game by inning 5. I move hook to 4.....once they get to 90 plus pitches I monitor the inning and see how it goes.
I just had Dallas Kuechal go over 100 pitches into the 8th with hook on 4 before he was pulled. I then move hook back to 5 for the bullpen.
It worked really well. So I will be employing this and again...based on my feel of he game and how the CPU is pitching.
It is really easy to adjust this on the fly.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-25-2020, 01:13 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
I'm having a real tough time pitching lately. I might be throwing too much in the zone or whatever. I'm just getting rocked even when using good pitchers. I try to throw pitches out of the zone and then come back in but I'm still getting blasted. Help me learn how to pitch!Same here.. almost always go for the strikeout unless I need a ground ball. Turning off vibration has helped keep the ball out of the zone. When I used to pay with it on, my strike percentages were in the 70s. I’d rarely ever walk or strike anyone out that way. Seems like I just wanted to keep everything in the zone.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

I've noticed if I send the runner, its usually unsuccessful. If he goes on his own, he's got a better shot of making it. Sent from my thoughtsJUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

I also have stealing ability at 6 but base runner speed at default.

I gotta share this: in 15 games I've played Arizona 7 times. Jake Lamb played in 6 of those games hitting safely in all 6 slashing .562/ .667/ 1.125 while driving in 6 runs and scoring 5 times he reached base safely 14 times including 3 doubles and 2 HR's. Talk about ownage. He is destroying me! It's kinda awesome.

I’ve had some success stealing in my Jays franchise. My primary base stealer is Jonathan Davis (67speed) iirc.
If I have any issue with stealing this year it’s with pickoffs. I get picked off more than ever this year.
Playing with base running speed and stealing on default sliders.

It’s been a nightmare thru May 15th for Trea Turner. Hopefully we will get back on course with bis base stealing.
In the meantime we have now lost 5 straight and 7 of our last 10.
Brutal.
We have two more left vs the Brewers on our 10 game road swing.
We have fallen .5 a game behind the Red Sox now.

I haven’t had a thought time lately pitching, I’ve had a tough time all year long. Haha. My offense is top in the league in everything, while my pitching is nearly the worst. I continue to get extremely low strikeout totals but I’ve just come to accept it. I especially hate pitching with Jose Quintana. I just pitched with him and had a game where he threw 6 2/3 innings and recorded only one strikeout. I finished with two on the game as a team.

I agree the jumps are atrocious. Given most of my guys can’t steal anyway but it has seemed especially bad this year.
