I dont feel as bad now LOL.
Interesting for me I'm getting strikeouts, but I'm getting blasted with the long ball a bunch of times every game even with quality pitchers. Something I'm doing wrong .......

I just pitched with him and had a game where he threw 6 2/3 innings and recorded only one strikeout. I finished with two on the game as a team.

This game with these sliders are an undeniable immersive experience as one could expect from a doggone video game!! Just look at the variety in results for all the folks posting in this thread. I know everyone isn't the same skill level but I think most people in this thread are pretty good at the game and understand baseball. It is remarkable, IMO, to have such an experience for a game that costs 60 bucks! Thank you to Armor and Josh for their input.

That's why I just keep my sliders close to Armor's. People on here say they get realistic strikeout totals, and I believe them. I've never been this bad at racking up K's as I am this year but I just keep plugging along. I'm still having a ton of fun with this year's game. And just knowing that it's, "possible," makes it better for me. Hopefully if I can get some better pitching I'll see more strikeouts. I swear Quintana feels like I'm pitching with a Double-A pitcher. He has no overpowering pitch and doesn't have a putaway pitch. Everything he throws is just, meh.

Most starters on this years games have k ratings in the 50s to low 60s which makes striking people out with them difficult. Once my bullpen comes in it’s pretty easy to rack up some Ks. I aim for 8ks a game and to get a decent amount of whiffs. It’s definitely not easy but if it were too easy, I wouldn’t have as much fun. Last game I lost but I struck out 7 in 8 innings. It’s when I pitch with guys like Montgomery(royals) that striking out the cpu becomes extremely hard and kind of annoying. That’s why I go for high K ratings in my starters through trades, drafts and free agency. If I were you I’d package Quintana and try to get a better starter with some potential

Best I've ever done is one start with Darvish the first seven outs of the game were all strikeouts... aaaaaaand then he left with an injury. Haha.

I think a lot of times that I may not be using the tap, hold, hold until rumble on pitches effectively.

I actually never use that I wonder if I should, I didn't know that it mattered that much.

I’m doing all of that tap , hold , hold till rumble and mixing up pitches but nothing works even with my aces. I definitely have more success with some guys because I have a good feel for the pitches in their arsenal but like many others I’m struggling this year much more than in the past. Feel like I’ve tried everything I know . Just going to keep plugging along

If you hold until the rumble, you’ve went to far. I rarely max out on my hold. Once in awhile I’ll tap if my pitcher is having a hard time hitting the plate but even then it hurts more than it helps. I usually find every pitchers release points and let go then. That’s given me the most success. Sometimes when I’m going for a breaking ball in the dirt I’ll hold right before it fumbles. Changing speeds works a little bit but like I said the tap isn’t as accurate as you’d think

In regard to mound visits -

                    Do they truly work?

I mean, we all use them in situations that call for them, but is it all in my head when my guy starts pitching better or gets that crucial out to end the inning? Does it / is it proven that a mound visit improves a pitcher’s confidence in general or confidence in his pitches?

When I see both the confidence and energy meter go up I certainly feel better going forward. I use them strategically like when a great hitter comes up to bat for a confidence boost. Or in the case of a pitcher not fully recovered I may visit him every inning for the energy boost to hopefully keep him in longer. I have no empirical proof this works but I have felt like it helps so I use it.

Mind visits can work for you or against you. They can boost confidence in the right situations but can decrease them in the wrong ones. I have seen it go both ways.

Are most of you guys using starting pitching stamina at 7? I'm finding that most of my starters are gassed at 80 pitches and/or in the 5th and 6th innings.

I think I'm going to bump it to 7. Darvish right now has 50 pitches and is doing well, yet his energy is at about 25%.

Stealing bases is an exercise in futility this cycle. I mean really bad.

So we moved up steal ability to 7 and turned down pickoff to 4. We are testing. I also am going to start getting one extra step and seeing if that is really needed as I feel it probably is now. So since that is needed I moved pick off ability down to 4 to offset this deficiency we are seeing now after a ton of sample size.

The jumps are simply 90% of the time awful. No matter what I try. I am going to report this as a bug and see what response I get as well.

Trea Turner who I swiped over 40 bags with in Year 3 has been CS 11 times now against 8 steals. that is simply not right. He is not that bad. He is one of the better base stealers in the league. The CPU has no problem stealing. This is a user issue and it is starting to annoy me.

I may have found a nice tweak "on the fly" solution after Gagnon suggested reducing CPU hook when you have real deal pitchers or for that matter any pitcher pitching a shutout or simply in your judgement having a great game by inning 5. I move hook to 4.....once they get to 90 plus pitches I monitor the inning and see how it goes.

I just had Dallas Kuechal go over 100 pitches into the 8th with hook on 4 before he was pulled. I then move hook back to 5 for the bullpen.

It worked really well. So I will be employing this and again...based on my feel of he game and how the CPU is pitching.

It is really easy to adjust this on the fly.
Just wondering if you have more thoughts on the hook slider. If you decide to move it down to 4 are you saying we do so at the start of the game and then put it back to 5 once the first reliever comes in? Would just simply moving it down to 4 work?
