Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders

I've posted v 0.1 (basically an Alpha version) of my "personal sliders" to the OP.

I've basically only gotten as far as the "feel test". I've been testing it out on AS so far and the signs have been quite good. I've seen much more disciplined ABs from the CPU (which is a great sign, especially on AS).

These won't be "final" for a while, but this is going to be my starting point. I plan on getting another game or two in on AS to get a baseline before I switch over to AS+ (for my 'real' chise).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Nice looking set josh. The move to contact 6 is critical to get the cpu to be more patient but also actually put the ball in play more. I’m going to test these out out all star plus. Your finding on control make sense also. I’ve always found it interesting that the one description we have on that slider is if you lower control you should lower contact. So I’ve always try to match the two over the years except last year on HOF because the cpu would rarely miss at a pitch

Looking forward to the feedback on allstar+!

Has anyone been able to give these a run? All I did was mess with all star + by adding one tick on the starter stamina. Everything else is default. The results have been interesting. My starters still do what their ratings expect of them. An if I sim a game in late innings and it gets to my bullpen because of the low rating bullpen for the Jays I seem to always get hammered hard. When I’m pitching with my starters the ratings matter. You definitely can tell the difference between a 60+ rated bullpen arm and a 70-74 arm for sure. That’s what I really like about these sliders and know they work. A starter in the low 70s for stamina gives you what you expect those 6 innings or 6 innings plus. Sure sometimes I finesse hitters but that only works until they start to get tired and once they do all hell breaks loose.

One last question. If I do decide to go back to the all star set up 0.1V an I alter from dynamic if I think all star + works better will I need to go from scratch with dynamic to set up Allstar + again?

I suggest making a new user profile and setting your difficulty to All-Star. And then if you want to go back to Allstar Plus you can just switch it to the other profile. It should work if you just change the difficulty and if you go back to Dynamic it should leave off where you left it. But there were a few times it would reset for some reason.

Three games with the new set. I know It’s Just three. Wow what a change. Noticeable from the first inning on. Lost 8-7, won 8-0, and won 5-3 against the tigers with my Indians. I will say there were ALOT of hits , specifically singles.

I was fully convinced that the set used in 19 and 20 would work just fine, however it needed “something” we tried foul frequency early on. Didn’t really do what we were looking for. I thought about timing might be the answer. I’m fully convinced that contact or timing is the answer. It’s interesting to see the fielder reaction and run speed down. I didn’t see any hits that would have or wouldn’t have been hits or outs regardless of the fielding settings. I fully convinced that going to the same set from 19 and 20 with the contact or timing up one click is the answer. Including SP stamina, injuries, trades, and pitch speed. Thank you again Josh.

The cool thing is that, if necessary following a longer sample size, we can back-off of offense by shifting the fielding sliders back to default (fielder sliders are less about the speed of the fielders vs how fast the ball seems to move relative to the fielders - I know, sounds like semantics...but not quite).

Some interesting finds josh. I always check out all the threads to see what everybody is up to.

To be quite honest with you I might try your set even though I have my own lol

I would of thought strike% on all star+ and control at 6 would of been WAY up but you said it’s not. I’ll probably give the a whirl honestly.

I'm not a big stat hound....but one stat I pay close attention to is strike percentage. I used pitch control at 6 last year and always had a great variety (and very often in that 60-65% sweet spot). When doing my initial run-through of this setup, I kept seeing the same thing.

Well I played two games with the newest set. Not sure if you’d like to know how I felt about them. Sometimes it’s more about the feel than the statistical outcome early on for me with a slider set.

I've always wondered regarding AS+, or dynamic difficulty in general, there is that bar that moves along between AS+ and HOF, so does that mean there is an increase in difficulty between AS+ and HOF, before you get to HOF? Like, if you lock in close to HOF or closer to AS+, is there a difference in difficulty? Or does that bar just mean you're getting close to HOF......

The bolded is the answer to your question. The bar only indicates the progress to the next half-level step.
