Using these with the Show 23 and am getting fantastic results! I played the Padres and Braves game and the Padres lit up the Braves just like irl!

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Clean screen, directional, classic, HOF, default sliders is playing a really solid game of baseball for me.
Small sample size (5 games into a test chise), but it’s def playing better than 21 or 22 IMO.

JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Been playing default HOF/classic/directional on 23 for basically the entire start of the cycle and have had great results. I did make a few small tweaks for personal preference.
USER Pitch Control - 4
Manager Hook - 6
Throwing errors - 8
Fielder Run Speed - 3
Infield Arm Strength - 4
Gameplay/Sim Injuries - 6Comment

Those are so close to what I’m using on HOF that’s it’s not even funny. The only thing I’ve changed to add to that is Consistency for the user at 4, both cpu and human contact at 6 to reduce strikeouts. I’ve lowered solid hits to 4 cpu and 3 human to reduce exit velocity and curb the doubles with turning them into singles instead. Also had to raise cpu control at consistency at 6. It’s ridiculous how far out the zone they constantly miss even with good pitchers and the amount of HBP we’re too much.
Not to muck this thread but I plan on releasing my HOF set in the next few days since I’m loving the games I’m gettingComment

Josh,
Any updates or tweaks you personally made for 23? I’m using the base - AS+/Clean Screen/Directional/No Assists/etc. Haven’t touched the actual sliders. Curious if you’ve made any adjustments off default?"There are two kinds of people who don't say much, those who are quiet and those who talk a lot"

This mans really posted essentially the default sliders as his set 😂Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
That’s because default is very close to perfect. Not sure why you would come in here just to make that kind of comment.
Hey Josh… just curious, are you still bumping up human and CPU contact to 6 and pulling back manager hook to 4 for ‘23, or are you running those at default this cycle?

You're right, that was lame and I'm sorry. Think I just didn't really get the point at first. I know it's a great game out of the box already.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Hey Josh, loving the player ratings sliders, still playing '21, considering purchasing '23 (maybe wait until it goes on sale).
In this thread (that began in 2021), I think you mentioned that are putting the pitch speed back to default (5) for both - do you recommend that for '21 or '23 or both? Are there any other suggestions or changes that you would recommend that are different from the first post of this forum thread?
I find myself at the bottom of team rankings for avg, obp, and HR each year. But top of the league for SB's and most pitching categories. I am the Royals so I assume my offense would be atrocious, but hoping to boost my offense a little more and decrease the success of my pitching staff - any suggestions?
*Probably does not need to be said, but having the player ratings actually matter is what saved the MLB The Show franchise for me as I play every single pitch of every single game for the entire season - so muchos gracias on posting these!Comment

Thanks! We play 80's style of small ball so having the ratings matter allows my Royals to actually compete with speed and defense on my self-imposed shoestring budget and restrictions on signing any FA's.Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
First things first- I have been a fan of yours for years Josh, and I have found your various sliders between franchises excellent, and you’re right up there with Matt/Armour for me. I have completely switched over to this method of playing MLB the show, and honestly I think it’s become my favorite sports franchise once again. I know it’s not necessarily deep, but the sport of baseball gives certain strategic weapons to the player that make this my favorite franchise once again.
Here’s my issue, and I’d like some help if you don’t mind. I hadn’t played in a couple of years, but over the past month of so have brought my skill set back up to a comfortable All Star+/HOF level, and have transitioned over to the directional hitting approach from my earlier Zone roots.
I did a franchise with the Truesim Roster, and even though I decided to go back to the current/live Rosters for my play through( I did a season where I played one starter, skipped 5, then the next starter etc), and wanted to do a season where I actually played every game for once. While I did my season with that roster/slider set, I actually really enjoyed the Offspeed/Fastball speed 10 that it utilizes. It makes the game feel real to an extent, and when I tried the base sliders set at default it felt too much like a video game. Since I’m already embracing this broadcast method with less user control, something feels off with the slower pitches.
It’s kinda fun to have a split second to identify/make your decision, but I’m just a bit behind the pitches. When I ran it with All Star+(what I’m using) at default, I was hitting solid contact/power once I adjusted to the slower pitch speeds. But I honestly don’t enjoy the game as much at that slow pace, and once you hit speed 10 it feels so good. Any tips on adjusting my slider set to counter this? The default game feels good, but there’s a few things that I might need to change.
It feels like perhaps I should bump up errors/fielding speed to match the faster pace inherently, but I’m not sure. All I’ve done so far is bumped up sim/game injuries up one, and changed trade frequency depending on the month. I also upped human/cpu contact up one tick since I was struggling to catch up, and didn’t want to give myself too much of an advantage over the CPU. Thanks again!Comment

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders
Been using all star + for a few weeks now. Always just played all star but it certainly has been giving me the extra bite I’ve been looking for. Everything default. The hardest thing has been the default pitch speeds. Always feel like I’m playing slow pitch softball. Early on everything. Using the exact set up posted in the opening post. Pitching from a pitcher view for the first time ever has been a welcomed challenge.Comment
