Then don’t use their slider set. Not sure why what other people do bothers you so much.

Because I use to come here for a very long time for good, informative information. Now it’s just bloated, which is really unfortunate. Guys who are actually putting time and effort never get heard from because so many people are just constantly posting in their own threads, keeping it at the top of the list. Posting stuff that just means absolutely nothing to anybody.

It’s a discussion forum about sports video games… I really don’t get what your point here is. Is it science, sliders or you not liking what other people talk about..

Thanks a lot guys! Now Josh will never come back with you guys arguing on his thread lol.

We love you Josh! Please come back bro. I always enjoy your thoughts on the game and I’m sorry if I was a bug last year. Just kept hammering away that the offenses needed a boost.

I saw this discourse yesterday and debated on posting anything; but I really want to respond to this one point because I think it is important in a general sense. Point-blank: there is no "legit set" right now (I am interpreting "legit" as a fully vetted and sample-size tested setup.).

It's not until you get at least a full 162 under your belt with a single setup that you can know if you TRULY achieved a good balance or not. The environment changes throughout the course of the season as the weather changes, as injuries occur, as players get hot/cold and as there is just very simply 'regression to the mean'. Heck, last year, I went on a massive tear in mid August/early September in my franchise (after hovering around .500 with this super-balanced vibe all year). I began to question my settings, but I had a hunch and even Tweeted how I had a bad feeling that "regression to the mean" was about to kick me in the butt....sure 'nuff, it did; we sputtered into the playoffs and got knocked-out quite handedly. You just can't replicate this in smaller sample sizes...you can't.

All you can do is start with a base and that is all anyone here has right now. My base is AS+ default. Why? Because it feels right to me. How did I get to that? Using the exact same "lack of controlled methodology" feel-based approach others are using right now - I just embraced how amazing the game is on defaults whereas others did not.

How will it balance-out over 162? I have no idea. But I know I love the 'feel' and variety it offers at a micro-level and I am having fun playing the games.

Find that 'sweet spot' that feels good to you and roll with it - ignore what others are doing; it doesn't matter one iota. Just play what you love, play the game how you love to play it, and don't take it too seriously.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

              JoshC1977,

Without dragging you back into the drama, are you still running with default AS+ for the most part?

Either way, your presence is missed here on the boards✌🏻

Yes....still on defaults other than pitch speed/injuries (all 4 of those at 7) and I am completely locked-in until '23 drops.

I dropped pitch speed to default but otherwise, yes.

I've been playing the last few years the exact same way you do with default sliders. The only difference is, I always pitched with the classic ball marker.

I FINALLY gave your way a shot and I'm kicking myself for not trying this sooner. To my surprise, it didn't even take long to get the hang of it. I really enjoy pitching now and I'll never go back to using a ball marker.

                        Hey Josh,

Thoughts on API on when pitching.

Sure, it’s prob more fun selecting your own pitches/location BUT

is it perhaps more sim/level playing field with the AI, if you turn API on and follow the catchers suggestions?

Is there an easier way to get to all star plus? I’ve lowered all cpu sliders and raised mine plus play with an all star team against a double a team and I’m still no where near all star let alone all star plus

You can delete your profile. Start a new one. When you set up your new profile select HOF difficulty. After that there’s a box asking something about dynamic..click yes you want dynamic. That box is super easy to overlook tho so take your time.

After that you can go into dynamic. Suck it up for about 2 minutes and then you’ll be on AS+ in no time

I actually think it is far easier following the catcher's suggestions - almost to the point where I wonder (and anthropomorphizing here) if the catcher literally "knows what the hitter is thinking".

Calling your own game is a mental skill (vs a stick skill) and we should be embracing those types of user skills - not eschewing them.
