I find that many sports gamers (and I've done this in the past myself) immediately look for "video game solutions" first (like adjusting sliders) vs asking "As a manager/GM, how could I resolve this?".

I'm really at the point with the setup where I feel comfortable in saying, "trust the sliders/setup". If I see things pop-up, my number 1 question will be "what decisions did I make or can I make as a GM/manager that could alter this outcome?".

We obviously have a bit more influence on things since we're playing the role of the players as well. In that game last night, I stretched a 78-ish stamina pitcher to 109 pitches (in 8.1 innings). He was just pitching SO well and our bullpen had been gassed after a 13 inning game earlier in the series. I kept riding him, but my decision will now have consequences (both positive from giving my bullpen a day off and negative because I stretched my pitcher). Having an environment where every decision matters is what I think many of us want in franchise. Sliders are awesome in one sense, but they can be a proverbial 'crutch' as well.

Just to be clear, I'm not "coming after you" or anything; it just spurred my feelings about franchise modes in general that I am incredibly passionate about.

All good. It’s nice to know what others do when it comes to that situation with not having full stamina. I just thought that they shouldn’t be tired after 4-5 days off. But I guess they could be!

If you push them to the brink (which is how I view tanking them to the point of no energy left), I could see there being some residual tiredness/soreness...whatever you want to call it.

Now, if we were seeing situations where you took starters down to 75% and they were still not fully-recovered, that might be where I'd raise an eyebrow a bit.

In the past, I've called up a random SP from the minors for a spot start if my starters were wearing down and we hadnt had a day off in two weeks. For some reason there is something cool about doing that. And trying to get 5 or 6 innings out of that guy to keep your team in the game for that one night.

              Yup, ditto here.

I normally do a 12 man pitching staff (14 offensive guys).

I'll have 1 marginal pitcher and 1 marginal offensive guy that I've burned the options on. I'll float those guys up and down depending on team needs (unlike real life, the franchise world we live in permits this). Sometimes I'll bloat to 13 pitchers, sometimes, I'll call up an extra hitter for a few days if I have a couple of nagging injuries.

I've even done the occasional bullpen game; I'll call up a couple of AAA RPs (expanding to 13 pitchers), throw them each 2-3 innings, and then drop them back down.

It's easy to get caught up in the "I must throw my 1-5 starters over and over in order" vibe. But unless you're incredibly fortunate; you're always going to need 3 or 4 extra guys to help out.

I've never done the bullpen game lol. I usually carry between 12 and 13 pitchers depends on the time of year based on need. I love signing a guy that doesn't hit that well but is a super utility guy with good defensive ratings. That guy always gets a ton of playing time giving the big guys a rest, and they get a big hit once in a while when you're not expecting it. I love those guys.

Hey Josh question for you…. Long time follower I’ve got the CPU exactly where I want using your exact settings… My only problem is I feel offense is a little too easy for me… I have my solid hits down to four where you originally had them. Would you suggest me maybe dropping contact down one would do the trick? As always thanks my friend.

Still getting enough strikeouts from your staff?

I would direct slider questions to Josh, he knows way more than I do.

LOL, I appreciate that. But I haven't touched HOF this year in franchise (and never will); so I really can't speak to it.

Hey, guys. Not a slider related question but was looking for some feedback on how yall go about resting your players in franchise? Do yall just rest a player when the game prompts yall too or do yall sometimes just do it before it does?

I ask because right now in my Rockies franchise Trevor Story, Ryan McMahon, and Garrett Hampson could all use a break but I'm hesitant to give them all 3 the day off at once as they're 3 of the best hitters in the lineup. Should I just rest one at a time or wait until the game prompts me to do it?

                                Thanks.
