They're both in the settings under the general tab.

Does anybody else feel that pitch speeds are just a little faster in '21 vs '20? Perhaps that is why Josh moved the recommended fastball pitch speed down to 7 (from 8 in the last slider update for the Show '20).

I’ve been using 8-8 and have been on a tear at the plate using wide camera.

I play on 8/8 too, it just feels slightly faster than 8/8 did on The Show '20. That's why I was thinking about moving down to 7/7 for this year's edition.

I'm having a hard time finding the sweet spot this year. I find AS+ is perfect for hitting, but AS/AS+ is still a tad easy for pitching. HOF is definitely more challenging, but it becomes too hard to strike out the CPU using classic pitching. Any one in a similar spot that can offer up any tips?

Question for y'all and correct me if I'm wrong. So I'm used to using meter pitching but with "Classic" as tur option we're selecting here for the slider set all we do is pick our pitch and location right? There's nothing to technically "do" after we hit the pitch button right? The same question applies to fielding. With no meter we just hit the button and the ratings do their thing right?

Yes and no lol Velocity and accuracy is based player ratings but also user input. It works like meter in the longer you hold the button the more velocity you will have with less accuracy. And vice versa. A single tap will result in more accuracy and less velocity. However player ratings play the most important role in determining the pitch outcome. Usually something in the middle gives me the best outcome. I know I had a big learning curve switching over from meter for so many years but I haven’t been back and never will. Hopefully that’s helpful. Good luck!

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders

I normally do pitching only but decided to do hitting as well for 15 games.

I left HUM solid hits at 5 and CPU pitcher control at 5. Im also on All-Star not All-Star+. So the settings should be favorable to me lol.

Over 15 games I am striking out on average of around 16 times, have only drawn 2 BBs, and totaled 8 runs on 39 hits.

I like hitting but this is why I play with it off, because I suck at it. Anyone got some tips? Hitting is fun, but I am so bad lol.

I have a stacked lineup but I strikeout like a mad man and I dont know how to get better at not striking out.

I have been in practice mode a lot trying to get better

First and foremost do not change the OP sliders. He has them set to that way for a reason. Secondly, you need to find a better hitting camera and the right pitch speeds for you and then get yourself into hitters counts. After that, wait for your pitch and attack but only use the swing button. No need to use contact or power swing or any type of influence. The only time I influence with the stick is for bunting or to try and move a runner over.

I know this is cliché and no one wants to hear it but you just have to be patient. I use to swing at absolutely EVERYTHING. Like everything it getting better just takes time man. Things I've started doing that's helped in the long run....

1.) 95% of the time I take the first pitch. Unless there is a absolute meatball over the plate with the first pitch I'm taking it. Atleast with this approach you'll won't find yourself in a 0-1 count every batter.

2.) Gotta remember not every strike is a good pitch to hit. At the end of the day it's the pitchers job is to throw pitches to induce weak flyballs and grounders. Dont just go up there hacking at everything near the zone. Unless you already have 2 strikes make the pitcher throw you your pitch.... which leads me to my next tip....

                        3) When I'm in counts 0-2, 1-2 I'm always gonna use contact swing to try to protect the plate until I get the pitch I want. I know first instincts in baseball is to tear the cover off the ball (myself included) but sometimes it's just best to get the bat on the ball and foul it off until you can get a pitch you can smash. (I also never use power swing, feel the risk is far more than reward)

                        4. Last but not least use training. I've spent a few hours in there myself this year. You can pick certain pitch and locations you want to work on batting against in there. I know no one wants to go "train" but I can't stress enough how much its helped me.

Sorry for the long response but i was in your same shoes a few years ago. These all have helped me tremendously. With some practice you'll be hitting dingers in no time.

With those slider changes, you put yourself at a dis-advantage relative to the OP (and it also explains the pitching 'issues' you're having).

Second page of the thread has a quick primer on classic pitching. Definitely take a peek.

For fielding, make sure you have button throwing enabled, not "button accuracy" and yes, you just push the button.
