Guys the slider set is meant to Maximize player ratings. They higher level you go up the more you get away from player ratings...

HONESTLY!!!

So I played a few with these sliders….. on Dynamic Difficulty with Dynamic setting at 8 yes 8 because I wanted to move with me fairly and HONESTLY I HAD SOME GOOD GAMES ONE Game I won’t 6-3 the next I won in a walk off 3-2 the next game I loss 6-4 I was playing as the Braves
Then…. I tried “All-Star Plus” and it didn’t work out for me even at All star I could no longer pitch I could no longer hit “just like that”……. So I’m going back to the same sliders BUT on Dynamic Difficulty back to 8 and see how it goes… I was having FAIR close games believe it or not and SIDE note I’m using “Riding Rosters” which I actually think helps balance things out

I'm in a pretty similar spot with just not enjoying the state of the current MLB product. I enjoyed when the game I grew up watching in the '80s and '90s.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with to that end.

Josh I’m totally with you bro. This new age baseball is a disgrace just like the new NBA.

What I was trying to say is even at all star plus default I can win rather easily because I rarely let up any runs. I’m not even hitting all that great but if I can get to 3-4 runs it’s pretty much a guarantee I’m going to win. The only time I struggle pitching is when my starter is low on energy. It’s very rare that I let up more than 7 hits and a few walks. My team era after 42 games is sub 3 and the last ten games I’ve let up 1 run in 7 of them the other 3 games I let up 4 twice and 3 run once.

I start losing interest in sports games when I no longer have to worry about who I’m facing and pay attention to what I’m watching on my iPad YouTube then the game. I want to be fully immersed in the gameplay and fight for a victory. I’m interested in what you come up with for your other set.

Like I noticed that most of the time when the CPU or even me scores runs it’s all in one or two innings.

Honestly I've always enjoyed baseball when there's a variety of outcomes. The numbers (stats) don't really matter to me too much but as long as there's variety so we can still have a 10-5 final as well as a 1-0 final that's all that matters to me. More offense is always fun though especially when the good offensive teams face off. I'm looking forward to seeing how your second slider set shapes up Josh! And maybe I'll give it a shot too haha!

Interesting reading all the recent comments regarding the current state of baseball and how it relates to the sliders. I’m curious about something. I know the recommendation is to play with dynamic difficulty on until you basically reach a comfortable point then turn it off, but I left it on all last year’s game and I’ve done the same so far with this year’s. I kinda enjoy playing that way because for me at least I get a nice variety of games and also winning/losing streaks. Which I guess means dynamic difficulty is working as intended. Does anyone else just leave it on? Or do you feel finding that certain spot then turning it off is best?

I mean...it's too easy....not sure how else one would say it - it's an input-oriented difficulty. While ratings do matter, somewhat, for HOF; it's nowhere near enough.

Yeah we are going to disagree whole heartedly here man.

Ratings 100% matter playing
On HOF with directional and classic pitching.

This is not IMO anything like a Madden situation where the CPU is getting a buff.

The CPU pitching gets better so you need to become a better hitter in terms of patience and pitch recognition and the CPU hits better so you need to have better pitch sequencing and not fall into patterns.

I played All-Star for years until finally on 17 it felt like they notched All-star down and I felt I needed a stronger CPU challenge. Or maybe it was just me getting better at the game itself.

HOF is not for everyone. Nor is Legend. I still can’t handle Legend.

But using Directional and Classic is ratings driven first and foremost but as you go up in level their is less room for error.

Kinda like a oversized tennis racquet vs a normal size.

Kinda perplexed at you thinking HOF is too easy vs more challenging because if I go down to All-Star the game won’t work as well for me and many other players. As like for you if you go up to HOF it does not work for you.

Well that is the beauty of the slider forum. You are going to have different theory’s, approaches and opinions.

And I certainly have a different approach of what I try to get out of slider adjustments and what I look for and the type of “feel” I want in the game.

But when I saw that statement.... I had to comment because I simply disagree with it 100% based on 100’s upon 100’s of games played between MLB 14 and 20.

There is a clear AI difference in how they pitch to you and how they hit against you on HOF vs All-Star and it is not stick or input related but far more “approach” related.

And by the way, input of course is going to play a role. This is not Manager Only mode. Input is a factor on AS as well as HOF and Legend.

You gotta have the right timing on hitting and also on classic pitching as far as how much effort you want, where your aiming etc. Goes for every level (Rookie, Veteran, All-Star, HOF or Legend).

Windows get tighter yes....no doubt. I will destroy the ball on veteran because the area area of contact is much more forgiving. Same for All-Star
Vs HOF. That is also why the style of play I (and Josh uses for that matter) will not translate well to Legend. The windows are far too narrow for Directional and Classic and the input then becomes even more critical. For this old man....makes for a far more frustrating experience for lack of a better term.

Makes zero sense that HOF is easier than All-Star. Its not and in my experience is just enough hot sauce to up the difficulty for a better experience over 162 games.

If I play on All-Star I won’t have the same CPU opponent in terms of better pitch sequencing and fearing the best hitters like I do on HOF.

I will leave it at that.

Enjoy Josh’s sliders. He does a great job and we have disagreed plenty of times before.

All-Star is a very viable level and I played on All-Star for a very long time before moving up to HOF.

You guys are both great and I respect you each on your slider observations.

I’ve always used armors sliders in the past on Hof and this year after trying relentlessly to make all star plus work, I’ve decided to go full on default HOF to see how it plays out over a larger sample size (40 games) but will continue to monitor this thread.
