What if I lose a few games in a row? What if I can’t hit with my favourite players?, etc. I have a very bad case of start-over-itis as it is.

Anyway, got up the nerve to play their first game against the Rangers. Loaded up Armour’s exact sliders (but with pitch speeds at 6/6) locked myself in my man-cave, took a deep breath and a way I go

After a quick scoreless first inning, Stanton (my latest man crush) swings at the first pitch he sees and belts a homer over the left field wall. Then, in his next at bat in the 4th, again on the first pitch he sees, belts a 2-run shot over the right field wall (he strikes out his next 2 at bats). Cole gives up a solo shot to Willie Calhoun in the 5th and that was the end of the scoring and the Yankees won 3-1.

Very good game (and realistic) to start to my season. Can’t wait until game 2 tonight! I also will start a Phillies franchise soon as I like having teams in both the AL and NL

For all of you doubters (I was a bit skeptical with Armour’s v2 at first), load Armour’s v2 slider set, don’t look back, don’t second guess, and PLAY!!!!
Excellent idea! I am doing the same.
2 separate franchises: One I am running with Phillies and the other I am running with the A’s.
I selected those 2 based on the franchises rich history and ties to one another.

I can’t use my fav team….for the exact reasons you mentioned.

      This set up is great.
I get to play in all 30 parks.
I get to play in all the created ST stadiums.
I have 1 large mkt team and one small mkt team so my strategy can’t be the same for both franchises.

I’m excited to see how both franchises unfold.
      Storylines should be spectacular.

Play ball! (Only with Armors sliders & set up).

Yes, my reasons exactly. I want to see and play in all 30 ballparks. Plus I want to see and play with and against players I don’t know very much about. I chose the Phillies as my NL team, because they should be in a tough challenge to make the playoffs (I gotta believe my Yankees will make the postseason). And I like their power hitting guys. I still LOVE hitting dingers!!

Don't worry, my Cubbies are 19-30, but 5-2 in our last 7 games. Had to upgrade my 3-5 guys in the rotation and got Baez back in a trade where I gave up Hoerner. We are doing much better, though our last 7 games have been against the Diamond Backs and Pirates, two of the worst teams.

Idk what to do to upgrade the yanks, Im struggling with pitching but I feel its more the sliders/difficulty then the rotation. Cole got beaned in the head opening day, came back 2 weeks later and tore his hamstring for 2 months lol Even if he was in right now I dont think my record would be much different

Just wondering if you guys let the catcher call the game. To me it seem like they call the same pitches to much or too many pitches in the strike zone. When I call my own pitches I seem to pitch better

I'm about 50/50. I'll tend to let them call the beginning of the game, but I'll often override them if I'm looking to deliver a specific sequence.

Lol. Game 2 was also a win for my Yanks. Was cruising with a 7-0 lead until Seagar hit a grand slam in the 8th to make things a little interesting, but I won 7-4. My man Stanton hit his 3rd homer in the first 2 games. Life is good!

I’m the same way. I play with API turned on. I listen to the catcher almost all the time initially, but then less as the game/at bat goes on. And then I might listen to his pitch call but not the location or location but not the pitch call. But as the game goes on, I also start going with my instinct. For example, I gave up a homer on an inside slider. The next time that hitter came up the catcher called for an inside slider on the first pitch. Obviously I thought “nope” and threw a fastball low and away. Or if the catcher calls for a few fastballs in a row and then calls for a 4th consecutive fastball, I’ll decide to throw something off speed instead. Sometimes I get burned on my pitch call, but at least that’s on me. And obviously as the game goes on you get a feel as to what pitches your pitcher has working that game and pitch accordingly. And their hitter as well. If he is late on fastballs then I’ll keep throwing the heater but in different locations. If he keeps fouling them off then he can expect a nasty slider outside the zone. Love the cat and mouse - very realistic in this game.

And I’m not sure if each individual catcher has built in game calling ratings/attributes, but there are games I am on the same page as the catcher and he calls a very good game and I can listen to him a lot. But then there are games when I think “wtf are you thinking?” So much fun!!

                        Hey Armor,

There is a patch coming today. Are you going to DL it? It doesn't look it will impact anything related to sliders EXCEPT for foul balls. Evidently they've tweaked it to allow for more swing/miss (which makes me very, very happy)

                        Thoughts?

I am currently out of pocket/town as my sons high school team is the state championship semifinals tonight in Fort Myers FL.

Most likely I will not be able to play till Sunday.

On the surface I have very little to no concerns about this tweak they are making.

I will observe though as I play.

I hate these patches/updates, simply because there is no going back (that I am aware of) once you DL the patch/update.

NHL series at least gives you the ability to select previous "tuners". So if the update/patch isn't your cup of tea you can revert back to a previous one.

Bases on the patch/update description, I think I am going to go for it. More swing miss/less fouls is a good thing IMO.
