Re: Armor & Sword’s MLB The Show 22 Classic/Directional/Clean Screen Simulation Slide

I decided to try 30 team control this year but am having a couple problems.

First off several teams continue to have 41 players on the 40 man roster. Every day I go in and remove someone from the 40 or let the CPU auto remove the very next day the team is back up to 41 players.

My second issue is that I can’t complete any trades because I’m told our injury situation won’t allow me to. Nobody is injured though.

I’m using SDS’s last live rosters for this franchise. All the CPU’s settings are set to auto except for lineups and 40 man.

    Anybody know what gives?

I made a thread for this in the main forums but thought I’d ask here as well.

Leave at 5 and NO more moving it to 10 once CPU goes to their BP (just make sure they only carry 12 pitchers with none in Long RP slot.)

Side note: I suck @ trying to steal bases.....my BR's get terrible jumps (even if I hold down L2 and release at pitchers first move. Don't think sliders can fix these abysmal BR jumps.

I’m glad I’m not the only one w/ stealing!! I tried bumping the slider up but it just made the CPU better [emoji23] I’m trying it like Armor said but I still suck… I’ve got some speedsters on Detroit too.

Yeah, I don't know what gives....probably user error. I only try to straight steal with guys who have good steal rating attributes. I hold down (whatever L trigger it says to, "I forget if it's LI or L2", and release at 1st sign pitcher is throwing home. Baserunners 1st two steps are slow AF every time...I'm sure Sony did this to stop on-line "spamming", but it sucks for us off-line franchise players. I can't be the only one seeing this. Well. like real MLB...the art of the SB is DEAD.

OK, this is interesting. 1st off, I never stray from Armors set up and sliders...I've always trusted them, and don't tinker w/ sliders once he locks in his set.

I see he uses directional and not timing for hitting this year.
I very rarely point the left stick (maybe 3x's a game in really key situations).

Just screwing around today/tonight, I played 4 full test franchise games and influenced my swing literally on every swing. I averaged 16 hits p/gm.

I wonder if directional is overpowered this year, and I should test timing hitting, OR stick w/ directional but never use the L stick. It was crazy how many hits I racked up. Could be coincidence.....I'm not panicking.

Armor - how often are you influencing your swing this year, and are you experiencing what I saw today?

I’m pretty sure none of us who use directional actually ever influence the swing. Speaking for myself, I use it like you would Timing.

The only time I might influence is when I’m trying to get a sac fly or when I’m bunting.

I actually influence quite a bit depending on the situations and hitter.

If I have an pull hitter I try to pull on 0-0 or any kind of hitter count. Pitcher counts I use no influence.

If I’m using a balanced hitter I don’t use the stick unless I’m in a hitters count, if it’s a hitters count I try to pull because it produces more power. If I’m behind in a pitchers count with a balanced hitter I try to press the left stick opposite field. The bat stays in the strike zone longer.

Then obviously sac fly situations or a situation I’m trying to hit behind a runner I use it then too

For the second part, the problem is that you need to have a certain amount of pitchers, outfielders, and infielders in your organization. Sign a cheap FA at the position you are trying to trade and you'll be good. That's why you're getting that message pop up. I'm not sure about the 40 man roster part.

On the 40 man having 41 issue.
What’s happening is injuries around the league and tue CPU is adding guys to the 40 and removing.

                  Three choices you have.

                  1. Set 40 man to auto for the cpu and you won’t see that anymore and just let the cpu handle the 40 man rosters.

                  2. Press auto fix every time you see it.

                  3. Take care of it yourself.

It’s not a bug….it is simply injuries. Which with these sliders are real thing line IRL.

What gives is your not good at it and probably not doing what I am telling you to do.

                    So again.

Pre load the steal by pulling the L2 trigger.

Do not hold L2 just press it once.

Once the pitcher comes set press and “hold” down L1 and do not let it go until the very first moment the pitcher lifts his front leg. Once he starts to lift that front leg let it go.

Also you gotta steal on good counts.

I can tell you from a ton of experience the best counts to steal in this game in order are:

                    2-0
                    2-1
                    3-1
                    3-2
                    0-2

                    These counts are tough:
                    0-0
                    1-0
                    1-1
                    0-1

They are slide stepping and pitching out more often on these.

Myself, I just hit L2 + the left joystick selecting the runner to steal and I have a lot of success. Just a simple preload and leave it at that for me.

As said above it is all about knowing when to run.

Directional works as it always has in the past.

If you do not influence it is exactly the same as timed.

The only time it won't is if you're playing a game and you are controlling that team. It doesn't matter if you have lineup control set to Auto or Manual. It won't actually change the lineup on the lineup screen, it will only change It for that particular game.

So you don't have to worry about micromanaging all of the lineups but every few days the computer will deviate from the lineup that is in the lineup screen.

In terms of directional hitting, I influence a lot. “Extreme Pull” hitters have that moniker for a reason, sure sometimes I try to contact swing against the shift in certain situations but most of the time I try to direct the hit where the hitter will have the most success.

I also use pitch speed 9/9 so I don’t get many games where I am just putting up 12+ hits so that may be a personal factor for me and why directional doesn’t seem overpowered.

I also don’t hold the stick when waiting for a pitch, I found I hit so late when doing that. So I generally will hover on the stick and right when I swing, push for directional influence.
