    Re: ASB04 vs HH04 (Ps2)

I have to disagree that a game should be dominated by hot/cold zone. Pitchers know that some batters like to turn everything inside or players that swing on first pitch fastballs. that's why I don't like the hot/cold options it's too much of a precise aid to help the pitcher.

Still low and away and tight inside still hold a lot of weight in my book. To an extent ASB doesn't get this part of the game right. I can go low and away with the likes of Barry Bonds yet he turn on it and pull in for a homerun. He's good but not that good.

As for pitching yes you should go with the hot/cold zones. But the game like you said is still a little low on CPU strikeouts.

GTheoron.....thanks for the compliment. No I dont professionally review for any sites but I do have a very critical eye from playing lots of sports and sports games over the years. I'm actually thinking about creating my own SPORTS Website for people who love video sports gaming but Im not sure how much interest it would recieve.

As far as HH is concerned, Its a fun game and all but I just cant seem to get really into it or take it serious enough...i dont know what exactly it is or perhaps its a combination of things. I just cant seem to get immersively wrapped up in the game. The only urge I get to play it is when I crave a quick few innings of joystick jerkin action but then very rarely find myself wanting to finish an entire game. While the graphics are delightfully revamped, the gameplay, scripted feeling physics underneath, and depth all feel unchanged from previous versions.

The gameplay is unchanged because for the past 3 years it has been perfect.

Also, I totally disagree about youbeing able to "setup" the batters in ASB to swing at bad pitches. It's extremely rare for them to do that, setting up the batter doesn't have any effect at all from what I have seen.
be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter.

I'm not so sure of that. I find there definitely is a "batter setup" logic. For example, if i throw a couple of balls outside, then rip one in tight, 9 times out of 10 the computer will either not swing at it, or will swing and miss. I've encountered a lot of situations like that where mixing it up can really fool the computer. It's not perfect, just like it isn't in real baseball, but i truly believe this pitcher/batter confrontation in this game is qiute deep.

Actually a baseball reaches home plate in under 1 second. But trying to put a cursor on the ball and hitting a button in that amount of time, especially when transposed on a flat tv screen is completely different than using muscle memory to put the bat on a ball in the real world. Comparing video game pitch speeds to real life makes no sense and is like comparing apples to refrigerators.

I don't know the exact amount of time that it takes to get from tthe mound to home plate, but I'm willing to bet my bank account that it takes longer than Under 1 second!!! No way in hell a ball is thrown from the mound to the plate in under one second. It takes twice that long just to swing a bat I think...I'll go with 1.5 - 2 seconds....but no way in under 1 second. Period.

                    1.5-2.0 seconds. LOL!!!!

I just thought I would toss this in here.... I want a piece of that account.

"Consider that a fastball thrown at 95-100 mph reaches home plate in about 0.4 seconds."

                            Speed of Fastball

It takes a ball half a second to get to homeplate. Average human reaction time is .2 seconds.
