I think that ASB should borrow EA's idea of jumping in and out of games. I like the idea of managing in text only mode to keep things moving at a pretty good pace. Then in critical situation it would be neat to jump back in, slow things down and watch things play out graphically (or even play them out manually).

Actually, I think you can. Just go into controller options and switch it from Manage Only mode to a skill level. At least in 04. Just a guess though, as I never tried it. But I know you could switch from All-Star to Veteran mid game.

Ok, well hopefully they added it this year. I think they should use the MVP approach & tie the personalized warm up swings into the batter walkup.

Rumorman, I do not envy the game designers trying to create a product that can be tailored to appeal to such a wide range of players. After hanging around on these boards for the last month or so it seems that everybody has different wants and preferences in terms of graphics, game play, etc... What one person can call a total POS can be the greatest game ever for somebody else. I think in some way we are all looking for the "Ultimate Baseball Game" - problem is there are only 4 games coming out and hundreds of different slants on what would make the perfect game.

When it comes down to the nust and bolts of the game engine it would seem that the CPU vs. CPU games or manage only games should play realistically - then the differing difficulty modes, etc.. could go from there. I'm not a programmer or anything, it just seems that would be the basic game setup.

I salute Acclaim for including it in their game, it has everything that all of us seemd to be looking for so I'm hoping that the gameplay tweaking will take care of things. Its not like the mode in and of itself is seriously flawed - just needs a little adjustment in terms of offensive production and I will be able to waste an unimaginable amount of hours playing games and getting into the franchise options.

Here's to hoping!!

This is what I have been saying over and over.. The heart of the game or any BB game, should be based on the realism of the CPU vs CPU mode. If that plays well, then the adjustments should be minimal for arcaders. Especially since they are calling it a sim.

If it sims correctly, Isn't that based on CPU vs. CPU games anyway.?

Everyone has been aware of the lack of offense problem in ASB, especially in manage mode. Even the arcade players are aware of it.

I have asked several times in several post, Asked.? Hell I have begged for Manage mode info. And I'm not the only one. But it seems to get passed over, ignored, or political type of answer which avoids a direct answer but leaves you scratching you're head.

I realize Steve is very busy playing all the games and trying to answer as many questions as possible. And I am very grateful for this.. But to answer my question, He doesn't even have to play the game. He can just let the CPU play the CPU while he is doing something else.. Then simply report the score and states. Walks vs. K's, hits, etc... 2 to 3 games this way would pretty much give an answer to our questions.

ASB man somewhat answered my question, I guess, But I have no doubt that someone out here can say with certainty that Yes, offensive production has been turned up in manage mode or No, scores are still 3 to 1 or 2 to 1 and not many hits.

I also realize that we are a minority, and those of us that play this way look at the game in a completely different perspective. I know this because everyone pretty much tells us to go play OOTP.
As if we are nuts to expect a fundamental video BB game.

I am hoping for the best, but with the lack of info about Manage mode, as if it is a guarded secret, I am fearing the worst.

In a way, It's kind of strange, The lack of offense was one of the biggest complaints last year, so you would think that with the Hype, ASB would be screaming and bragging about the new beefed up offense. They are talking about everything else, but pretty much avoiding any subject about offense.

This is not that complicated of an issue, Either offense production is up, or it is not. SIMPLE as that.

If it is not, I won't purchase the game, ( Even though I already have it ordered )

Just makes me wonder. ?

I guess now my only hope is to wait for some of you Manage mode brothers to spend your money, and start you're reports..

Oh, I'm sure I'll be labeled as a whiner or trouble maker now, But I really don't care. That's why this board is here, to discuss thoughts and info about sports games.

Well the info I need determines if I purchase a game or not. I buy ASB for one reason and one reason only... MANAGE MODE... If it does not work properly, there is no other reason to have it.. I bought an Xbox just to play this game last year. Was disappointed…

I will buy MVP, but only because it is the only BB game available for the CPU and has a manage mode type. ...Hoping the CPU will have a few more options than console. and looking very, very, very strongly at MLB..

God, Now I will probably have to get a PS2 … I’m glad ASB and MVP come out 2 weeks before ESPN and MLB.. This will give me time to learn.

Anyway, I hope everyone finds what there looking for in any of the games and thank God. At least we have what seems like a pretty good choice this year. Good luck to all.

Its not like the mode in and of itself is seriously flawed - just needs a little adjustment in terms of offensive production and I will be able to waste an unimaginable amount of hours playing games and getting into the franchise options.
