Re: Manage only Mode Thread

First two scared me a little bit too, but the other ones pick things up a bit. In the last one even the Tigers hit 3 doubles and scored 3 runs on Brad Radke.

If even the Tigers are scoring, then things must be looking up.

Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Well this is my first post here and I'm glad to see this is where the info and the MO players are! Heres my two cents on this: I don't think any other company ever bothered with MO much because HH had that market cornered. And HH just didnt sell all that great so other companies think MO is a waste of their efforts. But when did 3DO ever really advertise and push HH?? It was very rare. The game was amazing every year, but I think 3DO just didn't market it enough or correctly. Granted the PC version blew away the console, but I think it was a matter of time before HH caught up in that aspect. I had ASB 04 and I was glad to see a MO mode, but after about a month I couldnt deal with it. Low scores, few walks, draft sucked, etc. Most of these problems look to be fixed which is great, but how hard is it to make a decent MO mode? Tony LaRussa did it, and I played that game years and years ago (and I wish they still made it). I guess all we (or at least I) can hope for is that ASB 2005 comes through or that HH will be resurrected my Microsoft next year. If HH came out this year it would have the combo I love: Great MO Mode + Financial/GM system + Realism = I'll pay what they ask

Final Note: I hope Microsoft isnt using the HH code for their game (which I cant knock cause I havent played it cause I have PS2) and it is XBOX exclusive. I really truly hope they have been working on HH 2006 cause every company should take 2 years to develop the latest version, and I bet many of us would pay a little extra for it. If this doesnt happen then I hope ASB will try to take the market and live up to HH standards and beyond.

Is there a text based manage only mode in ASB?

I rented MVP yesterday, and while it won't be the game I purchase, I did love the options for playing/simmng a game.

1. Have the CPU instantly Sim the game.
2. Have the CPU sim it in about 15 seconds giving you the chance to jump in.
3. Text managing. Games just take a few minutes, but are a little more suspenseful, and give you the opportunity for key decisions.
4. Play them manually
5. ??? I am not sure if you can manage and watch the game pitch by pitch like ASB.

The best part is the ability to switch between modes. I hope that ASB and WSB steal this next year.

I just don't have the time to play out 162 games, and I don't really like simming games. The 5 minutes text based games would be a perfect solution for me to finish a season with the satisfaction that I participated in each game.

I'm a mangage-only ASBer but tried MVP to contol manually and have been liking it. The ability to sim the rest of a game you've started is a great feature, but the manage mode is a piece of garbage. It's good for deciding the line-up and pitcher and when you want one of your baserunners thrown out stealing and that's about it. Complete waste of time.

In spite of reviews ASB has been getting I'm still hopeful that the manage-only mode has survived. That's all I care about.

Actually, I think you can. Just go into controller options and switch it from Manage Only mode to a skill level. At least in 04. Just a guess though, as I never tried it. But I know you could switch from All-Star to Veteran mid game.

Is there a text based manage only mode in ASB?

I rented MVP yesterday, and while it won't be the game I purchase, I did love the options for playing/simmng a game.

I kind of liked the MVP text mode, but I only played a few games. It could get tiresome before too long???? And yeah, it does seem that stealing is a gauranteed out. None the less, I did have some fun substituting pitchers, hitters & runners. And some key sacrifice decisions were interesting.
