    Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Interesting thoughts ragnar. I will definetly check both issues more extensively.
I'm just having such good games right now, I did not even think of this as an issue, but if it is a problem, I would like to know now...because I started editing a roster to include real minor leaguers in every level.

Some PS2 MOM impressions would be great, thanks.

            Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Well, I have been tooling my Manage Only rosters(I play as the Mets)
I have listed earlier my edits so I won't list them here...but I just thought I would share the game I just played against Cincinatti today. Spring Training(want to wait for the REAL season to start). Grant Roberts(5th starter) vs. Jimmy Haynes..
Haynes was rockin' today. Through 7 innings I was being 2 hit by him...a single and a double. He was almost out of stamina at the end of seven. Roberts was not getting rocked...but the Reds chipped away at him for 5 runs on 9 hits. I pulled him in the middle of the sixth.. Now here is what I'm loving about the computer AI. Reds are up in their half of the eigth. Their 8,9 and 1 hitters are due up. I walk the 8 hitter and Haynes gets up to bat. I love the CPU sees the guy is going good and let's him stay in the game. Nothing happens in that half and it's still 5-0 going into the bottom of the eighth. Haynes issues a free pass to my pinch hitter(Cedeno) and up steps Reyes. He blasts one to third...and although the thirdbaseman makes a nice play to keep it in the infield everyone is safe. The Reds have Ryan Wagner and someone else warming up. Haynes issues another free pass(Guitierez(sp?)) and the CPU yanks him. Wagner pitches the eigth and ninth and I lose 5-0.....and I could not be happier about losing!

By the way....I just printed out the rosters for all levels of all teams and am going to be working on an XBox set of rosters with "complete" minor leaguers. Maybe in a seperate thread....fans of certain teams can give me the best prospects for their clubs...it would help alot.Thanks.

                  Re: Manage only Mode Thread

Hey guys, since realizing my player edits had ruined some players (specifically pitchers) I had to dump my manage-only franchise. I was messing around with the edit mode today and noticed that my edit to batters/fielders in particular, usually ended up increasing the players health. I was taken a significant ammount from their range and arm strength, so there's got to be some weird math formula for the health rating.

The edit formula is pretty whack though. I just changed Pedor Astacio's number from 34 to 33 and he went from a D- to A- in health. I guess the number 34 really really made him sick. At #35 he's back to feeling sick at a D but not as sick as 34.

now at number 32 he's at a B health rating and his effectiveness is up to a C.

So, if you're editing and suddenly your guys health and effectiveness take a nose dive, try changing his number or giving him a few extra or less pounds until you find the right combination to get his ratings up to where they were before you screwed with them... for those of us adding stamina to the pitchers this is a good find.

Well anyway, my only real beef with the manage-only mode is a lack of power, specifically in my home park of Fischbach Field. But what I'm realizing is that place is pretty terrible for the long ball. The corners are pretty deep. And that clear monster in right makes a HR over there quite a feat. Maybe in a more hitter friendly park I'd see better results.

Just a quick note. I'm loving the manage only mode. 2-0 generated count is the only thing I've done, and it seems to work pretty fine. Scores have been all over the place. My first game ended 11-10 in 14 innings. I've had high scores ,medium scores and low scores, and I'm in Spring training.

In real life I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I'll miss the game. Pathetic, ain't it?

How are the pitch counts, fatigue, etc? I'm looking for a console game and accuracy in stats, etc. is most important. AS looks like it may be the game for me.
