<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> IMO, there is no way that you're gonna tell me that this is new. Big play control, EA takes the functionality away from the buttons and insteads let you dive and jump, etc. with the right analog stick. Slap a fancy name on it and market the hell out of it as something new.

Pure Swing-This has been done in video games before back in the day. Ball is low, press down for contact. High and outside, up and to the right to make contact.

Back in the day, remember you could dive and jump, etc. with the press of a button? Now in this generation of games, with the right analog stick, they're just mapping these moves to the right stick. In other words, I don't see this as innovative and new.

Freestyle and NBA Live was innovative and new but pure swing and big play controls don't impress me. A lot of times I hate when the developers are mapping moves to the right stick like in ESPN NFL.

Disclaimer: this is not a jab at EA's efforts. I have pre-ordered the xbox and ps2 copies of MVP. Just saying these new control features don't impress me. It doesn't give MVP any kinda advantage over ASB in this area of new features.

            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hey man don't jump on the messenger. I didn't write those press releases. I just copied and pasted. I'm not claiming that they mean anything because the fact sheets are there solely to hype the game.

My point was from a consumer's stand point that might have played last year's versions ASB really hasn't done anything new. Where as MVP, and EA Sports is good at this, have added a lot of features. Some will sell games, some are eye-candy and some are great the first time you put in the game but really don't do anything.

ASB from all the press and movies looks more of the same with a lot of tweaks. Let's say that a consumer played last year's version and didn't really like it. Well if ASB apears to be more of the same, why would that gamer buy ASB if he knows it's more of the same. No one in their right mind is going to by more of the same if they didn't like it in the first place. This is were MVP comes in. MVP claims to be new and improved with radical changes. That's what they claim is out there. Let's forget for a seoncd that we haven't even played the game. So people that hated last year's version might say, well I didn't like it but it doesn't appear to be more of the same. Therefore maybe I'll take a chance this year. This is where all the hype is coming from.

JROD, i'm not shooting the messenger. Again, all i'm saying is us older gamers have seen it all before. A lot of things EA calls new and innovative, is not new. Then again, they market these games to the younger gamers who probably have never seen some of this stuff before. Thus, this is why so many people are hyped about the game. As I pointed out in subsequent post, pure swing and big play control, has been done. EA has just slapped a fancy name on it. Hell a couple of the guys at EA Canada probably used to work on the old baseball games we used to play on NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis.

In-game saves needs to be added to ASB's list also. I forgot that was in last year and will be back this year.
