I had experienced one freeze in approximately 20 games and downloaded the patch last night. The game itself seems to be a bit smoother - transitioning to cut scenes and replays. What is lost, and was likely part of the problem, is the ability to go to the options screen during a game and view replays of any play from the game (through the 'game review' I believe). Not a big deal for me, others may like that option though.

From what I read, the patch turns the option off but it can be turned back on in the options. Whether turning it on causes problems is anyone's guess since there is no official word on what this patch actually does.

i'm sure that this has been said already, but seriously, how does a company release a patch and not say what it actually does?

I do not have the game, rented it without any problems but didn't put a whole lot of time in it. But after reading through this thread I have a question for everyone.

Is it possible that the reason why some are still having issues and some have their issues fixed is because of the model of 360 they have? Meaning if you have the launch 360 as opposed to the 2nd or 3rd gen of the console. I know with the xbox it was the drives that caused a lot of people aggrevation, maybe with the 360 it is something similar or something that is specific to the launch 360's.

Just an idea.

thats what i have always thought.

i think i have a 3rd gen, maybe 2nd!! it was my 4th 360 and i just got it from walmart about 2 1/2 weeks ago. how can i tell what gen i have?

2KSports is going to be losing business. There are a handful of people that I trust what they say on here that have been having freezing. That helps make up my decision as I'll be taking this back. It pisses me off because I really liked this game and thought "Inside Edge" is such a great feature in the game. The pitching is just one of the best I have ever used in a baseball game.

Like I stated earlier, I don't have $65 to be throwing around especially when in June there is a lot of other games coming out.

I guess I have to go back to MLB06, even though there were a few things that I didn't care about that game that I liked in 2K6.

Good luck to those that are still having problems, maybe it will clear up.

I think I'm going to send a message to Major Nelson about the idea I had with the cache. MS needs to implement an option in the dashboard so you can clear your cache like you would in Internet Explorer.

For the hell of it, I downloaded the patch. Just before I did I deleted all the vip's from NHL, NBA, and MLB. So far so good after 4 games played.

One thing that scared me that was not game specific was the 3 red lights showed up. My stomach went south as the screen went black. Fortunately, I think I found the problem. I have the intercooler, and the plug does not attach securely enough as it should into the fan unit. Especially if you have the brick lower than the 360, the cord pulls the plug down. I reattached and hopefully everything will be okay.

As far as the game goes, no freezes and nothing more.

Those darn VIP's. If you don't save a VIP than don't you have to adjust your settings every single game that you play than? It usually has that stuff saved in your VIP.

I know that some have said that the patch doesnt address anything other than the freeze issue but I swear that since I applied the patch my game runs MUCH smoother. Another thing I noticed, and I know how crazy this sounds, is that when I hit a foul ball into the crowd the camera often zooms in close and shows a fan holding the ball. I played at least 35 games prior to the patch and not ONE TIME did the camera zoom in close.NEVER! Could be a MAJOR coincidence or else I had my head up my butt (which is very possible) but I swear that I never saw it before.

In a way its like another game. I didnt realize just how annoying the framerate was until it starting running smoother. I guess maybe its the cache thing or something.

On another note, I didnt have any freezing prior to the patch but after the patch it froze on me twice. I've since palyed 5 games with no freeze. Hope it stays that way.

And last but not least. I DID have that weird HR deal where I hit 25 HR in a row!!

I'll be searching the 2K and other forums until I find someone else that has had the same thing happen to prove i'm not a lying troll

One more thing- I have had a few occasions where either the pitcher or an out fielder with the ball just stands there. I mean, just stands there holding the ball and nothing happens. Its not a freeze. Its just like they forget to continue playing BUT if I wait (sometimes as long as a minute or so) the game will continue.

I'm actually starting to come around to this game since the patch. I still love MLB:The Show but there are some things this game has that I like better. The pitching for one.

thanks candyman-you're a true gentleman. No worries. Thanks for posting that. I KNEW there had to be someone else that experienced it.

Anyways, I can't wait to get home tonite for a 2K marathon. I havent played it too much since I got The Show but now that it runs smoother i'm enjoying it more.

I hate having 2 different games though. I want to just concentrate one one ya know? I kept hitting the wrong buttons while playing 2K last because of my time with The Show

I think MLB:TS is overall better but there is something about 2K's game that draws me in.

I guess i'll just have to get used to playing both.

I agree 100% - and I'll explain further. Freezing issues aside - 2K6 is not a polished game. The animations, presentaion, gameplay, etc - it's all very rough at many spots. However - what is drawing you in is the "potential" This game once you get past all of the junk - is pretty deep. I have stated in other threads - MLB :06 is not a huge leap from MLB:05 (which was a great game too by the way) It just seems to me Sony spent their time cleaning up what they had to make it much more polished and better playing. Take notes Kusch!!!
