    MLB 2K8 Wishlist

Better fielding camera angles, aerial, zoom and broadcast view (MVP 2005)

Enhanced Minor leagues, they should be no reason, why this game can't have AA and AAA teams affiliates. (see MLB the Show)

Fox Sports Overlays and a new sets of broadcast teams, a combination of:
Thom Brennaman and Steve Lyons (All star Baseball 2005)
Joe Buck and Tim McCarver (Inside Pitch)

Spring Training games (MLB the Show)

All new scenario mode, where Jeannie Zelasko introduces actual MLB footage to set key events from season's past, where you get a chance to alter history. Similar to how the demo was done this year (All star Baseball 2005)

Stadium Tours with old and new stadiums alike hosted by the commentators from NFL 2k5 (All star Baseball 2005 had 50 stadiums). Cathedrals of the game type stadium tours.

Speaking of stadiums, they need to extremely accurate, right down to the placement of advertising. I remember in All star Baseball, the Dunkin Donut sign at Fenway was changed to Erikko Ehlert (one of the developers), the ad even got the right coloring.

I want to see scoreboard inside the stadiums, update constantly to reflect scores from around the league. (All star Baseball 2005)

I wanna see actual team mascots (All star Baseball 2005, Homerun Kings)

Amateur draft, Winter meeting, Rule 5 draft conditions, arbitrations, September call ups

The ability to play in all three all star festivities, The Homerun Derby, The All Star Game, and the Future Stars game which consist of top prospect (All star Baseball 2005)

better collision detection on the basepaths, no more baserunners running through fielders

Players hollering instructions to each other between pitches and outs.

No more generic shoes and 2K bats, that's just ridiculous. Louisville slugger bats would be nice. Mizuno, Nike, Reeboks, Russell, Bike, Franklin brands to name a few.

Training Tracks (Inside Pitch 2003 ) fielding drills, pitching drills and batting practice drills.

more motion capture animations, see MLB the show for lifelike player animations. and MVP 2005, for the share amount of animations, you will rarely the same animation twice in the same, (bobbled catches)

Game Pace, similar to the setting that High Heat 2004 had (slowest, slow, normal, fast, fastest). That way those who liked to play quick games can do so, and guys like me who like the pace of real baseball can enjoy all the game has to offer.

Four man Rotation (High Heat 2004 only game to have ever done this to my knowlege)

Player tattoos, see Andrew Jones, Willy Mo Pena to name a few (Homerun Kings)

Real homerun celebrations at the plate, not that junk that this game has. I like the replay shot of the homerun, but I want to see them get rid of that awful running the bases animation. Have guys at homeplate come and congratulate you (MLB the Show).

I love what they did with the catcher this year, Love that aspect of the game along with inside edge however I would love to see the catcher dropping his mask on pop-ups.

Season Preview Show- A new show presented by Jeannie Zelasko and Steve Physioch, lets fans know which team is on the rise, who the favorites are to win MVP honors and The Cy Young award as well as free agent signings, and what major coaching changes took place over the off-season.

After the third out, we shouldn' t see the same canned animations of players jogging back to the dug out in unison.

      1)Better looking crowds(take a page from MLB 07 PS3)
2)Take away the fielding camera, its horrible and boring to see behind the 1st baseman every throw.
3)Give the stadiums a softer look...They're pretty hard on the eyes to be truthful.
4)Give us more Batting Stances/Pitching wind-ups, 2k7(360) started a great trend and they can only improve more.
5)Scrap the hitting model completely...Go back to the MVP05, MLB 07 style where the pitch location dicates how you can hit the ball. I shouldnt be sending a ball out 400ft being jammed.
6)Add a throwing meter or let us hold the button down longer to put more on the throw(causing better chance for error)...Fielding is so boring and takes a lot out of the game.

        HITTING

        - Bats are too loud and don’t sound right.
        - Bats overall have too much ‘pop’; put another way, balls come off the bats with too much speed, generally speaking.
        - Not nearly enough foul balls; the ‘defensive swing’ foul or fouls that are the result of the hitter ‘barely missing’ are almost completely absent.
        - The check swing is so incredibly sensitive it’s almost impossible to pull off.
        - The strike zone, while admittedly looking correct, plays a touch too large.

        PITCHING

        - While the ‘payoff pitching’ mechanic is worth preserving, it simply shouldn’t be possible to hit your ‘exact’ spot, unless by chance. Regardless of whether the user executes the payoff mechanic perfectly, there should remain considerable doubt about where the pitch will end up, particularly when throwing a pitch (or with a pitcher) with a low accuracy rating. Put bluntly: it’s just far too easy to hit your spots (within a quarter inch!) with any pitch, with any pitcher, even if you set accuracy ratings to zero.
        - An even simpler solution, in my view, is to employ a modest hold/release pitching mechanic: the user holds a button to start the windup, and releases it when the pitcher should release the ball; a late release causes the ball to tail drastically, an early release causes the ball to sail, and of course everything in between. (This would have the added bonus of removing the meters and graphics from the screen.)

        FIELDING

        - Arms, particularly in the outfield, are too strong and much too accurate.
        - Fielding camera could be improved.

        SLIDERS

        - Sliders need to have a drastic effect. There’s really no excuse for the fact that having the throw speed slider at zero results in arms that are still too strong, or having the ‘AI Take Ball Behind’ set at zero and still having them take more often than not (the most obvious examples, but there are still others).

        PRESENTATION

        - I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this game features the single best crowd in terms of responsiveness in the history of sports gaming. That said, it still makes way too many mistakes. I won’t go into elaborate detail here, but suffice to say that I believe whoever was in charge of this aspect of the game was sleeping on the job.
        - Umpires need more life. Where’s the proverbial ‘steeeeeriiiiike’ or ‘huuuiiiiiuuh’ that is such a staple of the sounds of baseball? Having the umpires merely vocalizing the count must be upgraded. (Dare I suggest brining in three or four real-life umps and having them voice-over exactly how they call a game.)
        - Play-by-play and color can both be simplified. There is simply too much in the way of talking about ‘last year’. It’s the neat the first time you hear it, but 40 and 50 games into a season (or worse, two or three years into a Franchise), it becomes downright useless. Instead, I would suggest concentrating on in-season statistics. Instead of a paragraph on a player’s career path, a simple sentence or two talking about his numbers (or hitting streak, etc.) would be vastly superior.
        - More focus on pitching changes. When a pitcher is yanked, oftentimes this is a pivotal moment of a game; there needs to be more here than simply saying the name of the pitcher who’s replacing him. Similarly, when a reliever comes in, he should receive virtually the same attention as the starter did – i.e., a brief rundown of his numbers on the season.

        DISPLAY

        - The rain looks rather silly, falling at roughly two miles per hour complete with six inch ‘drops’. Either fix it or get rid of it.
        - Overcast days are bugged (if that’s the word); players look like they’re in complete sunlight while the field looks the way it should.
        - Many of the stadiums have awkward sunlight effect, where there’s no apparent correlation between the ‘sun’ and the light. (See the early innings of an evening game at Camden for example.)
        I am become death
        Do not underestimate my apathy

All of tehse post sound really good , if they can get half of these it would make for a great game. How about take the game play from the show and put it with these graphics ? I do want to see name brand shoes and bats , cancel the rain , it is just dumb looking. the camera angles need a lil help and Joe Morgan and Jon Miller have to say some new stuff PLEASE ....

It seems like in 2k7, HRs always went within a certain distance of the fence. I NEVER have hit one into the right field bleachers at Yankee stadium, and this happens almost every game in real life.

The physics are dumb. fix them

also, 60 FPS would be nice.

also can we get rid of those impossible over the shoulder catches the outfielders make? also have the ball travel faster.

New broadcasters The ability to play minor league games and more accurate rosters in the minors. I remember a game a few years ago where you could create a team nd put them in any division in any league and locate them in any city in any state even Alaska and Hawaii it would be cool to have that feature in owner mode. It was fun creating a team and playing in Alaska.

                  Re: MLB 2K8 Wishlist

                  1) Add personalized HR celebrations for the top players. The game was suppose to have them this yr as part of the signature style (its even mentioned on the box), but doesn't. I've hit multiple HR's with alot of sluggers such as A-Rod & they do a few random ones, but not their actual signature reaction to a no doubt HR. Every top slugger should have a unique celebration that only they use (Like the MVP series had & The Show still has).

                  2) Allow us to choose alternate uniforms for the opposing teams or just make them random. I hate playing against teams that constantly just wear either their home or away uni's & no alternates ever.

                  3) Include a pulling the ball attribute for the AI batters. There are alot of players that pull the ball 80% of the time such as Andrew Jones, Sheffield, Griffey, etc... Well when I face these particular guys in the game they go opposite field WAY too often. Having a rating bar system for this would definitely solve the problem. So for guys like Andrew Jones & so forth who always pull the ball, the bar would be completely filled & for guys like Jeter who use the whole field it should be just the opposite.

                  4) Fix the rain so it's more realistic looking & actually varies from a slight drizzle to a downpour. You could also add some light snow falls for the beginning & end of the season. But most of all the retractable roofs need to close when its raining.

                  5) Please add self-shadowing on players for the PS3 version.

                  6) Improve the fielding cam as well as the AI for the CPU controlled fielders.

Thats all for now as I'm fairly satisfied with the overall gameplay & hit variety for the most part.

                    The Demo got me thinking
I don't know if you guys remember the Allstar Baseball series by Acclaim, but they had a great Scenario Mode. Derek Jeter and Thom Brenneman would introduce the different scenarios that played out during the last regular season.
I thought the demo for 2k7 was a perfect scenario mode, and would like this to be a permanent feature. I would to love see about 7 to 10 different scenarios created for next year's game. it would sure beat the plain vanilla scenario mode that they have now.
The incentive on the XBOX 360 would be if you unlock all of them, 100 gamer points or something in that realm. What do you think. Speaking of Allstar Baseball, to this day, the most enjoyable baseball game ever created, not for its gameplay but for everything else. I logged many hours just sifting through modes and such, whether it was the multimedia reels or the stadium tours. The game kept you entertained without ever having to step on the field.

                      Re: MLB 2K8 Wishlist

                      Got a few:

                      1) I can deal with the fielding cam for the most part but when you hit the ball and the camera follows the batter so that you cant tell if there was an error on the throw in because the camera is too zoomed in on the runner, that is the part that gets to me the most.

                      2) Pick-offs drive me insane. I cant get bigger than a 2 step lead because the pitcher will keep trying to pick me off even if I have proven that I can get back. Example: I kept taking a 3 step lead at 2nd with Furcal with all intentions of stealing 2nd but there was no reason for the pitcher to try and pick me off 10 times never once getting me. Eventually I just gave up on trying to get a bigger lead. I also just played a game against the Mets and there must have been 15 pick attempts. That many never happens in a game.

                      3) This is cosmetic but 2K go look at a catchers hockey style helmet and you will never ever see a bar running down the middle of it. Where the player looks through should be open with no bar running down the middle. As an ex catcher it drives me nuts to see it.. May not be a big deal to most of you but to me if 2K has the behind the pitcher cam, then the catcher is one of the things you see the most, how about making him look right.

                      4) I play mostly NL games so I face the pitcher at a minimum of 2 times a game. These guys have better eyes than the leadoff guys for their teams. I can get an 0-2 count and they will work the strike zone. Pitchers do not have this kind of eye in real life.

Other suggestion you guys have already made that I like are: the L stick should be for hitting the ball where it is pitched, more foul balls, and the payoff pitching thing.

One last thing we always ask for better presentation but long ago I gave up on getting real brodcast from FOX or any other company for that matter. I should say I did love what 2K had done with the ESPN brand even though baseball seemed to be lacking when compared to the football game they had put out which I thought had some of the best presentation ever.

I remember being able to play minor league games in MVP Baseball 2005. All baseball games should model their new games to MVP Baseball 2005. That was the best game ever made.

Real stats... no more ERA bug, BB bug, HBP bug, etc.

Someone mentioned earlier, a throwing meter would be great... better throwing logic (seems to me that if you throw to the wrong base, the fielder takes all the time in the world to make a "gentle toss" to the base you meant to throw to). Fire that sucker!!

Fix the DL bug and the FA bug... no way that many stars would either be traded or allowed to be FA.

Smarter AI bullpen... they let those guys get WAY too tired before coming in and my guys get lose WAY to early. Ready after one mound visit/pitch to a batter?? Come on!

-please make fielding fun again. i feel like all i do is pitch and hit while the cpu does all the defensive work for me. there are so many animations that i feel like i am not controlling my fielders at all.
-the throwing physics feel way way off. i also feel as though i have no control on how hard or accurate my throws are. this has been done better since the damn world series 95 on genesis.
-the camera angle is an absolute joke. there is no way to judge depth and that makes it very hard to cut off hits in the gap.
-check swings need to be easier, too

i could care less about tattoos and playable minor league teams, just give me a good, solid MLB video game.
