Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
The audio is the biggest beef I have with the game. It hasn't changed a bit- I swear they said that they redid crowd interaction.
I hope they're ironing it out. The on-field stuff is more important to me though but it'd be nice if the presentation and other stuff would see improvements.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
I'm not going back and reading this whole thread, but whats all the complaining about, I mean I see people who don't like the game abd are complaining, and people who do like the game complaining about the people who don't like it, bottom line is who cares, if you like it buy the game when it drops and you don't like it, then don't buy. People have opinions and other may not like them, Oh well.Comment

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
True. Although I guess I don't invest myself as much as some others in some of those things. Out of all the things you listed, the only one I care about is the Steelers since I'm a born and raised Pittsburgher. I believe that's in my blood. The rest....who cares? I'll just buy the best or multiple of all of the above.
I respectfully disagree about 2K fans being overly defensive (not in general, but in certain instances/circumstances). This isn't something new either. Some of us on this board have been noticing it more frequently the last year or so and has been discussed behind closed doors and via PM. With that said, I think it goes both ways. Some have been very finicky and others have been overly sensitive. It's all a matter of opinion and I think both sides need to be respectful of the other instead of telling them they're wrong.
Regarding the videos...so much depends on what you're looking for. I know you mentioned you aren't a big baseball fan and maybe that's why some things don't jump out at you or bother you (and most of these things don't have to do with what IGN was doing). For me, I saw things in those videos that have bothered me for 2 years now and still aren't fixed. The fact that those things are still there upsets me and is why I won't purchase this game unless the demo is a lot better. I guess one could say this was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
As far as 2K fans being overly defensive... I do think for some reason some 2K games are held to different standards and not judged fairly. IGN seemed to go out of their way to directly compare Madden and APF, despite the fact they're clearly not on level playing field because of NFL exclusivity. NBA2K seems to be held to a ridiculously high standard while people generally bear Live until it gets better. I've never felt that way regarding MLB2K, but if you look at the posts last night there was an AWFUL lot of "and that's why I got a PS3 for The Show" type points trying to be made.
Either way, it's neither here nor there. I too was born and bred in Pittsburgh (McKeesport & Duquesne, now live in southern Maryland) and am a devoted Steeler fan. But I can understand when non-sports fans ask "why do you care if the Steelers lose?". Because I've invested myself personally so that I feel good when they win. It's something to care about. I understand when people say they can't care about a game unless they have money riding on it. I don't think it's any better or worse than people that get into "my pet is better" arguments, or prefer this operating system to that operating system. That people care if "their" game is better than a competitor's is maybe not the same as being a fan of a particular team, and may get labeled as fanboy wars, but imo it's not all that different.

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
I hate that advice. "If you like it, buy it, if you don't like it, don't buy it. This is a forum to express your opinion. I love playing video game Baseball. I have a 360 only and I am NOT shelling out $400 for the show. At this point in next gen, I expect 2k8 to make me say wow, that's cool. Those videos did not do that for alot of us 360 owners. I will buy it because it's my only choice. There will be enough good to make a purchase, but come on, those videos did not do justice to what we have been reading or told.N.Y Mets

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
While it's the most updated, they also have to compress it so much just so it can fit in the marketplace. They probably have to dumb down a lot, like the blandness we saw in the DEMO IMPRESSIONS thread with the screenshots. So in a way, the demo still won't give the game the justice it deserves.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
Yes, a short vid, but there were some telltale things for me.
1. The pitcher covering 3rd. Looked at where the 3rd baseman is standing, six feet from the bag, erect, his legs shuffling back and forth, staring into the stands behind firstbase. I'm just concerned about the coding and will it affect more plays like that.
2. Cutoff man with his hands up looking for cutoff on homer.
3. Ball not being cutoff and rolling all the way to third.
Yes, the game is gorgeous, stadiums look fantastic to me, but I, myself am just a little concerned with some of the AI logic on this early (not that early) release. I hope 2k takes steps to show their game off more and that these types of things are not in the logic this year, or that this one particular play (#1) was just a temp glitch.
I know when I did a full roster set for this game a couple years ago I tried every thing conceivable (with attributes) to make the 3rd baseman charge bunts, but nothing really worked. They fixed it last year, but is it raising its ugly head again? I just hope this bug (#1 above) is not common place on plays at third.Comment

Jim,
I used to play Short and the Hot Corner and from what I remember first of all the 3rd baseman would fake the runner back then fire to first then the Short Stop would cover the bag the pitcher would backup the play...
The first baseman took too long with a hitch, he instinkfully would have thrown the ball right away...I don't believe this play would have happened in High School Varsity...
2. Cutoff man with his hands up looking for cutoff on homer.

Re: IGN MEDIA THREAD!
Pretty sure the ball was well out of the park by then.
Another one is the "errant pitch" remark setting up the batter with a meat pitch ("smashing it out of the park). Fingers are crossed that this new batting system does NOT include this.
These are a few important issues to have clarified through release of more stuff.Comment
