Discussions of graphics are always opinion based anyway...personally, I really have never cared for the Show's player models or graphics (even on the PS3). I actually rented the Show on the PS2 3 times to try and get into it and couldn't get past how bad it looked, while others raved about it. My point is, we each have different opinions on what looks good/what doesn't. IMO, this game is beautiful in still shots or cutscenes, but when the ball is in play, the animations are stiff and the frame rate is choppy. Again, we have only seen 4 minutes of footage so we'll have to wait and see.

This whole thread is crazy. If you are gonna buy 2k8 - you just appreciate new footage. If you are gonna buy the show - have fun. If you are undecided - wait for the demo. All the rest of this discussion is just pointless.
Or how about this..If you have an opinion just share it...Stop trying to defend everything...Some people will like what they see..Some won't...deal with it..It aint that serious.

      MLB2k7:

      Now lets look at 2k8:

The Guerrero pic looks good but overall last years game IMO looks much better...IMO this has been an ongoing thing with 2k and all their games...Graphically they leave alot to be desired

Also, with such a small amount of footage being shown its tough and kind of unfair to jump top the conclusions most people are jumping to.

Wait for more evidence before you throw this game to the dogs. Four minutes of footage doesnt justify the last 30 pages of complaints.
Your probably right, but do you think the people in this thread that dislike the hate messages will have the same line of thinking when the football and basketball games they dislike come out? I highly doubt it.

Certain people are fans of certain games and game companies. If they like it they will question why people hate on it. If they hate it, they will be the haters they once questioned. Funny stuff indeed.

I think they had some "hiccups" when they encoded the high res videos, versus the lower res videos. That has nothing to do with in game res.

They are the same game res, just the outcome when making the video files on the PC is different.
Hmmm....that's true. I was thinking they might have played the game on an HD and SD tv, but all the videos are the same so that couldn't be the case.

Someone has brought to my attention how early these disks could be. Brinkman may have given these to the guys simply to test out the hitting and pitching mechanics. They may have left off any of these nasty glitch weird looking thing fixes as well as all of their presentational elements such as celebration etc and just given them the bare bones they need to test what they wanted them to test.

So with this new throwing mechanic... will we be able to preload our throws for double-plays, etc...?

Does IGN factor into any of this at all? Geez, going back to the early PS2 days we've known IGN to be a joke yet collectively people believe in them year in and year out - just boggles my mind for a supposed hardcore sports gaming site. And I say again, I don't see how such extremes can be determined from four 1-min videos. If people are disappointed it's not MVP reincarnated - whatever that's supposed to be - I just don't see how the game looked so bad. There are actually people saying the game didn't look good graphically, that it somehow went from being the best looking sports game ever (2K7) to not looking good this year. To me that's insinuating these guys are completely incompetent. As much as I dislike Tiburon and what they've done with Madden/NCAA and exclusivity, I wouldn't even go that far with them

I'm not saying some of the criticism is without merit, but man - some of this stuff is pretty over the top

                    Of course.

Yes, like an advanced version of MVP, since velocity AND release point matters.

Bingo. Par for the course around here. 2K supporters will fight to the death for their game, EA supporters do the same, SCEA supporters do the same etc... Personally, I don't get it. I've said it many times, but until one of these companies pays me money to support them, I'm not going to do so. Each year I look at the games, play the demos and choose based on my own opinion. Right now I prefer what I've seen from The Show, but I still haven't played either game.

I still remember the days when I'd purchase 3 baseball games every year and play all of them. I always knew one of them would have most of what I wanted (usually was High Heat). I'd return the 2 I didn't like after a short period of time. Now that I'm older and don't have much free time, I can't do that. Those were the days though...

Doesn't really make sense. Why would Brinkman give them such old disks only a few days ago instead of a more recent, more playable version? The preview even stated they just received copies within the last few days.

I think what we saw was pretty close to a final build. There just isn't much time left in the build cycle to accomplish much more (maybe 1-2 weeks at most?).
