In short it means there is a larger window to make contact with the ball. Last year, you had to pretty much be perfect to make contact, so the system will be slightly more forgiving this year.

Last year, there were times where I thought I did everything perfect and would crush a pitch only to find that I was slightly early/late.

I believe the 12-16 frames means what it says. Every instance of motion is a frame (think of an old animated cartoon). Last year, there were fewer frames of motion where you could make contact...you know have more frames.

I don't know if this is just a result of them upping the frames per second or not.

I'm not big into the stuff either, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Wow this is what I have been waiting for!! I always said they need to slow down the pitch speed a little in baseball games but drastically increase the timing window and frames was the word I was looking for. This sums up basically exactly what I wanted for hitting in a baseball game. This should add HUGE variety to the hitting engine all while remaining "physically realistic". As long as the bat to ball physics are accurate for where the pitches are in the strike zone then this should be GREAT. I don't like how in some games you can hit the ball to the opposite field on fastballs that you swing late on that should jam you and break your bat. You can swing late and as long as the left analog stick's in the right spot you will still hit a rocket opposite field. Completley unrealistic to the laws of physics.

              I agree.

I know they want people to do things online but why not consider another way to provide this content? Maybe another disc?

But I'm sure it would cost too much money. It's just unfortunate for those that don't have access to XBOX Live.

                YankeePride and baa,
I can't get downloads with my PS3 so any downloads in the future mean nothing to me...
If an updated disc was offered every three or four months or so I wouldn't mind paying for it...

Multiple disks is the norm with CPU games. Why not consoles? Anyway, guess that's the way things are headed. I'm already resigned to the fact that, more and more, these games are going to be coming out incomplete content-wise, and that I'll never have the full verson unless I hook up to Xbox Live and download whatever.

For a good game, and if the content is a new add-on, sure. But to pay for content that simply wouldn't fit on the original disk? No.

I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more of what Half-Life 2 did with Steam.

Soon we'll just be buying a DVD that allows us to dl content into our harddrives. And it's probably the only way to deliver everything that a console can deliver but a DVD can't hold.

set your computer up to share the internet connection you get from your vz access card, plug a crossover cable into both your computer and your ps3's ethernet ports, and there you go - downloadable content on the ps3. Of course I don't know for sure if ICS works with the VZ access card, but it should. Google it for great justice!
