    Last question k
I know it's confirmed run down," in a pickle" messed up. Do u think 2k could patch this later or is this set in stone?

It's very obvious that 2k rushed this to release it alongside the show. As the guys at scea said, the 3rd of march was the earliest release day allowed by the MLB. Also seeing as the fix is already either done or in the works, gives you the idea they knew about this but decided to rush the game anyway and then fix it with a patch instead of delaying the game a couple weeks. Why are you defending them when you don't even know when your own excuses are true? Why are you making it seem like you're speaking for them?
I'm not defending them, just stating how the system works. I never said March 3rd was the last day allowed, but from a business perspective, it would be colossally stupid to release this game any later than the 3rd because their competition is releasing a game on the 3rd as well. It also changes their fiscal predictions and cash flow figures if they delay the game. It was a business decision to release this game on the 3rd, not a development decision.

We also know that the game has to go through Sony/MS's certification process before it can be distributed to retail. As a result, they MUST have a build that will at minimum pass this certification in order to meet the March 3rd deadline. They know what the bugs are and probably have code to fix them, but they don't add them into this build for fear of not passing certification. Now that they have a build that will pass certification (bugs included), they begin working on a patch. Worst case scenario, patch doesn't pass initial certification and the game has bugs for 4-6 weeks. Best case scenario, patch passes initial certification and is ready for download on release date (sounds like this is the case).

Each change in the code needs to go through extensive testing to make sure that the initial problem is fixed and that there are no new problems introduced. This is easier said than done.

As I said in my original post, the system is not perfect, but it is what it is. 2k is not monitoring someone's vitals at a hospital, nor are they launching a space shuttle. It's video game development, hence the margin of error allowed is higher.

The only way for us gamers to have a voice is to become shareholders in Take-Two and voice our opinions to the board, or don't buy their games and hurt their bottom line. Problem is, most non-vital software companies follow a similar model.

Sorry for the long post, I guess I've just read one too many case studies.

Has anyone with the game tweaked a slider to make the AI take more pitches?

Do you have a link for that? I'd love to read what he wrote on it...he's got a pretty good sense of how things should be, generally.

EDIT: NM, found it...me and searches aren't cooperating today it seems...lol.

As Bill noted, I got MLB 2k9 mailed out to me yesterday. This worked out well since I was home to oversee the floor repair and I was able to...

Yeah...just found it...lol. Thansk though. Seems as though the overall opinion on franchise is gnerally negative...even byond the FA stuff. There seems to be lots of issues with roster management and such.

That said, the fact that stat tracking seems to have held up over multiple seasons is good news. I'm very up and down about this game...lol.

In any case, it appears as though roster control might be a must rather than a luxury still. I suppose it's better to have to go fix roster move errors than deal with the budgeting stuff though. We'll see.

Do you think the team of unsigned FA's could win the WS if you put them all together vs the best team in the game?

I have Questions about Online play... I would consider myself a veteran from 2k8 in online lgs and what not and would like to know if what i heard is true... Is the online lag alot closer to offline this year? Or is it pretty much the same as 2k8?

                              Thanks

That article was posted before the news of the patch, and he did post an article about the patch(just stating that there would be a patch). So at the time, no he didn't know about a patch, but he now does.
