Theres some really great posts here about how to make this better. Hopefully VC can figure it all out and get it working properly. Who ever suggested it may be a combination of sliders and other settings may not be far off from where the issue prolly lies.

Re: AI "Hitting:" Inside Edge is BROKEN... (Reason AI is so Aggressive) Phot's inside
I know everyone has been saying the AI hitting ZONE is broken, and that batters walks are all rated D.
I just played a game pitching with MAtzuzaka, and I noticed that the batters checked swinged more often and that DICE K missed the target more often. The batters did take a few more pitches than normal. He gave up 4 walks.
so the question I have to ask is, does the pitchers have a walks per/9 inning rating. If so what would happen if we raised those ratings to a near max level. do you think more batters would takke more pitches.
I cant check to see if these sliders exist in each individual pitcher.
If so maybe folks should test these as opposed to the batters sliders, cause the batting zone tendancey seems to be broken anyways.
maybe someone mentioned this already. just a thoughtComment

Ron has given an update on the status of the PATCH:
I wanted to give you more details about Patch 2 as they have been passed to me. The patch is almost ready for submission as the final tweaks are being made. From there, it must go through the proper approvals which puts it a minimum of two weeks out. But I did want to share JUST A FEW (read NOT ALL) of the things it will address:
AI Aggresiveness
Home Run Totals
Fly balls in the outfield tweaked so ghastly fielding errors will be a thing of the past
1st baseman stepping off bag has been tweaked
Issues with the pitch overlay hud
Fixed pickoffs, especially to 2nd base
Roster issues as it pertains to substituting pitchers and bench
There is more news to come, but wanted to share at least these fixes with you. Thanks!

This is great news, across the board. The AI aggressiveness, first baseman glitch and outfield play are three of the biggest complaints people have about the game. Eliminate those, and we're looking at a much improved product.Comment

Re: AI "Hitting:" Inside Edge is BROKEN... (Reason AI is so Aggressive) Phot's inside
I am interested to see how the AI Agressiveness will be "fixed". Will they re-connect the broken link between the IE and the player ratings? Will they stick a random "Take Pitch" programming update that seems totally unrelated to the situation? Will they allow an edit made to a player to reflect that edit within the confines of the player's IE information, and therefore allow meaningful adjustments to gameplay?
What I am hopeful is that the agressiveness is not simply a batter just swinging less for the sake of swinging less. While it is great that they are going to fix it, I would wait another week if need be so that the fix is actually connected to the tendencies and gameplay rather than some random "tweak". They need to re-marry the IE and the ratings system so Pujols is tougher to strikeout than Vlad. Free swingers should be just that. And guys with high ratings on their Walk Tendency should be scarier to pitch to than lower-rated players, as those nibbling pitches on the corners are going to become very important.
My slider set is tweaked almost to the point of perfection now, and hopefully with the patch, things will get even closer to the SIM game we are craving.
Let's hope 2k has listened to the masses and get this train back on the tracks. IT seems to me like they ended up with a huge set of Beta testers with this retail version, and I love how this little community has been able to hopefully help make this game better.
It almost seems to me that a company like 2k, especially with a core fan base that is so ready for a return to a great baseball SIM, could have sent a few hundred pre-release copies to a select group from this arena, and taken the feedback back for final testing and fixing before stamping out the final copy. Even if it meant signing non-disclosure forms etc... I think handing over the game to people that understand, play, and love baseball, would render a better product than relying on those who understand computers more than the game they are trying to recreate.
Just my 2¢

I'm interested to see just how they've "tweaked" the 1B issue and Of issue as well. I personally have never seen the 1B issue, and given the fact that a number of people can't even seem to agree on what it is exactly makes me wonder how 2K properly identified it.
For the OF issue, I've only seen it happen to the AI. I think for the user it's a combination of poor control sensitivity, poor animation, and odd "locks" on user control. Will this address the slowdown and warping? The animation? The responsiveness? All of the above? Will the fix address it on both ends? Lots of questions.
Still, it's good to have an update. Hopefully their fixes will hit home and make this game playable for those who find it otherwise, and even better for those who already like it.Comment

I hope they manage to "fix" Inside Edge, and that the other problems are given more than a band-aid solution. If so, the patch will wipe out some of players biggest problems.
It will also bode will for next year, considering resources will be spent on other aspects of gameplay.Comment

At first I was reading Joe's post and was like, they're probably over analyzing things but when I saw this I was like. You telling me Abreu has no patience?!?!? Come on. Every time I get ready to pick up a used copy of this game I read something else telling me to save my money. The main reason is I'd like to play my xbox friends online with it but most didn't even bother this year. I have high hopes for 2K10 but I had a feeling 2K9 was gonna need some work.

With the release of the patch for PS3 and the positive impressions regarding the fixing of this issue, I'm unsticking this one. Great job by Joe and the others that contributed!Comment
