    Nats

Just lost another tough game to Atlanta, the final score was 2 - 0. Lannan went 8 innings, I could only scratch off 5 hits and no two were ever on the same inning. I was impressed with lannan he struck out six.

    I am now 1-4

      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Argh. I haven't posted in this before but I just lost my fourth game in a row, a 15 inning thriller that ended with a score of 2 to 1. I don't think I've scored more than a run in the last 4 or 5 games.

Oh and I'm using the Cubs, and I've done quite a bit of roster changes to my lineup and such. Pitching injuries are getting me pretty good, but I'm trying my best not to just turn off injuries, and try to work through it. If any one is interested i can give some more information. I'm 10-10 on the season, played every game, and currently in, I think, a 5 way tie for second in NL central (Pirates are first!).

        Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

after my 18 inning heartbreaker I headed to St. Louis only to lose in 11 innings this time 4-3. I was losing 2-1 in the 9th and scored twice to take the lead 3-2 and in the bottom I let up a HR to tie the score 3-3. bottom of the 11th bases loaded 2 outs squeeze play bunt and my entire infield screws up allowing the run to score, very frustrating ending. I am now 4-5 with the Mets. Castillo is hitting a whopping .110 on the season (4 of 37), and Beltran is hitting .230 (9 of 39) with 2 Hr's and 4 RBI's. I suck at this game now.

Played one game yesterday before going to see Coldplay for the 3rd time in less than a year...

Freaking awesome show...AGAIN..., but I digress.

Lost 5-4 to Houston to tie the 4 gm series 1-1 (until I simmed the next game, and won 8-4).

It was very much a pitcher's duel (for awhile) between the #1 & #2 NL Cy Young candidates, Joe Blanton and Roy Oswalt respectively.

Oswalt would throw 84 pitches over 6.1 innings striking out 6, surrendering 0 BBs, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs/1 earned - a Howard solo HR.

Blanton would throw 95 pitches over 7.0 IPs allowing 5 ERs on 10 hits, 1BB, and striking out 5.

He was in command of the game until the 7th when he walked the leadoff batter pinch hitting for the pitcher, and gave up a hit w/ one out to Hunter Pence. Next up would be Carlos Lee, who on a 2-2 pitch sent a shot screaming into RF for a 3r HR and Houston jumped out ahead 5-3. I'd get a run off LaTroy Hawkins in the 8th to draw it to 5-4, but Houston would bring in Valverde to close out the game and he did - however he did walk J-Roll w/ 2 outs so there was a slim chance to tie, but he made quick work of Tad Iguchi getting him to line out to RF.

As I said previously I simmed the next game and won, so w/ the last game of the series I've got a chance to take the series w/ a 3 games to 1 win.

Well I did something last night I had never done in a baseball game before.
I threw a PERFECT GAME with Edison Volques last night!!!!!
I was nervous for the first time ever playing a video game last night the last 2 innings!
I won the game 8-0 over the DBacks, he struck out 11. Brandon Phillips saved the Perfect game on a great diving stop up the middle to start the 9th. Edison then struck out the last 2 hitters to preserve it. In all my 15 years of playing a full season with the Reds I had never thrown a perfect game.
I am now 46-32, 6.5 games up on the Cards.
By the way the DBacks are horrible on this game.

Congrats. I've never achieved the elusive perfect game or no-no. I've gotten into the 8th w/ 2 outs only to see it disappear, and a couple of times in the 9th with one or two outs or on the first pitch of the 9th...ugh.

Hey could someone here help me pick a team for a chise? I have the perfect sliders and now I just need the perfect team.

I like teams who have one or two power hitters with one or two big time pitchers. I don't want a great team like the yanks, or a bad team like the mariners. Any suggestions?

Umm maybe the Cubs. Soriano can hit for power, as well as Aramis Ramirez, and Milton Bradley (though he's a bit of a defensive liability). Also they have Zambrano, Dempster, and Harden to pitch for you. And to a lesser extent Sean Marshall and Ted Lilly.

                    Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

To the guy who pitched the perfect game: Awesome, and yes the D-Backs are terrrible in this game. Im so happy I am in their division. No matter which pitcher I use I get at least 8 Ks a game

Btw, ended up getting swept by the Brewers. 2nd Game of the series I played and had Marquis pitch really well, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings. I, of course, had 0 until the top of the eighth. In the T8th however, after a Spilbourghs single and a Brad Hawpe double off the wall to make it 2nd and 3rd, I managed to get a bloop single with Atkins which scored 2 to tie the game.

However, in the B9th, with Frankie Morales pitching, I serve up a double to Fielder with 1 out, a sac fly scoots him to 3rd, and Weeks ends it with a single up the middle. Final 3-2.

I simmed the last game just because I was so frustrated, and we lost that one, 5-3.

I started my home series against the Mariners and am losing 2-1 in the T6th on a really frustrating gameplay issue. In the T5th, with runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out, Pelfrey is desperately attempting to keep the game tied at 1. Ichiro, who was on first, tries to steal 2nd but I throw him out miraculously. (!!!) Making it 2 outs with a runner on 3rd, I throw a great changeup that is hit very slowly to short.

I charge and I miss the ball. The ball was about an inch away from my fielder, and he just never scooped down to go get it. Really annoying as it gave them the lead at 2-1.

I wish this game didnt have those annoying hiccups

Btw I was on the fence between them and the brewers so I'll give the cubbies a go.

i threw a perfect game in mlb 2k5 with javier vazquez. it was the greatest achievement in a sports game ever for me. in 2k9 i cant even make it through 6 without giving up a hit.

Yeah I really like playing with the Cubs, Theriot and Fontenot provide decent enough speed, and if you so wished good trade bait. Which is another good thing about them, is that they have players that you can deal if you want to make trades or grab a player you really like. Anyway, put some update on here when you get started.

Recently signed Pedro to a 1 yr deal. Im not playing a short season with both Livan Hernandez and Tim Redding at the back end ofthe rotation.

                              Pedro's 1st start against the Braves: 6.1, 2 runs, 3 K's and the W.

                              Viva Pedro!!

I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who gets nervous en route to a no-hitter in a video game. I have yet to go an entire game whilst yielding no hits in a 2K series game, though I did throw a no-hitter with Nate Robertson and a perfect game with Zach Day in MVP '05. I feel a little ridiculous but I've lost countless no-hit bids due to what I believe to be nerves and overthinking.
