      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I finally started using J's sliders, and I really like them. They make my games alot of fun and much more realistic than the spring training sliders (where games were always me winning 7-0 or me losing 1-0)

I play as the Rockies, and my last few games have been really good. I won 9-4, 7-6, lost 5-0, won 4-3, and now im losing 4-3 to the Braves.

In terms of my chise, I need better pitchers. I suck with Jimenez (hes on pace to going 2-5 with a 4.00 era.) Who would be a good pickup? Pedro?

im almost at the end of may. i have been losing a lot lately. i have lost 6 of 8. mark reynolds is awesome though. 15 homruns and 41 rbis. his 15 homeruns leads the league, but his 41 rbis are only good for 9th in the league. on the pitching side of things, webby is 8-1 with 90 ks in 10 starts. yusmero petite is 7-0 as a reliever. qualls is 16-17 in saves which is right in front of kerry woods 15 for the league lead. Upton is struggling for me though and has been all season. he is only batting .243. he does have 20 rbis though.

          Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I ended up winning that Braves game 7-6. Amazing game. I continued to get shalacked with De La Rosa until it was 6-3 in the 8th with Soriano pitching the inning for the Braves.

I managed to get two guys on for Brad Hawpe, who hit quite possibly the most clutch homerun for me ever. (In MLB 2k7 he hit a homerun off the foul pole against the Mets to win Game 2 of the NLCS for me, but still.) Hits a 3-run shot and now its tied 6-6.

Next inning, Ianella smashes a double, and after a nice bunt over, Spilbourghs hits a slow roller to short, which scores Ianella, even though it was a real close play at home.

I simmed the next two games against the Braves and lost one that Marquis pitched 9-6 but won 3-1 with Greg Smith on the mound. (My starting pitching has been good this season, except for Jimenez and Francis.)

Im in the middle of a game against Detroit now, winning 6-3. Francis struggled through 3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits before finally admitting he had an elbow injury in the dugout. (I was at bat when randomly the camera looked at my dugout and said Francis was out with an elbow injury.) Depending on how serious the injury is, I may put him on the trading block. I hate using him.

Huston Street is now my closer, as a I prefer Corpas in a more flexible set-up man role.

Dexter Fowler is my new starting left fielder and has been tearing it up. He has 6 RBIs in 4 games and is batting .330

do you guys have any opinions on who I should attempt to trade for or sign?

Im putting both Jeff Francis and my former starting LF turned bench player Ian Stewart on the block. I didnt glance at any teams blocks yet, but still.

I'm telling you...you just need to stick w/ a slider set. You're to quick to switching back and forth. Play an entire month w/ a setting w/o making any changes and I swear you'll be content.

                ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

Anyone experiencing freezing while fielding... i.e. the Outfielders slowing down etc. SWITCH TO 720P. I did this today and the game is running SILKY smooth. Before they would slow down, and sort of hiccup...now NONE of that is happening.

I don't know if ths was mentioned before so I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder, but there is a marked improvement by switching your HD settings on your console to 720P.

                ================================================

With that said...nice to see everyone enjoying their franchises.

After losing to Pitt in my last post, and leading the Braves 4-3 in a game I was playing when I made my last post...I ended up suffering another disappointing loss. Lidge would blow the SV giving up a run in the 9th to allow ATL to tie it 4-4. It would then get real crazy after that...

In the 10th ATL got a run across after a Kelly Johnson lead-off double and a Chipper single to knock him in. W/ two outs in the B10th down 5-4 Mike Cameron would hit a solo HR to tie the game 5-5 (off Mike Gonzalez). Then ATL would strike right back w/ another leadoff double, and eventually finish the 11th up 7-5. However, I wasn't done either as I was able to get Carlos Ruiz on w/ one out, move him to 2nd via sac bunt, and J-Roll would rock the house w/ a 2r HR to tie the game in the 11th.

Both teams would hold each other scoreless in the 12th, but Juan Cruz would allow ATL to score and go up 8-7. In the B13th ATL would send Javy Vazquez out to close it, and ATL wins 8-7.

I ended up hitting 4 HRs - a 3r shot in the B1st w/ Raul Ibanez, Mike Cameron had 2 HRs, and J-Roll had a clutch 2r shot in the B11th.

                Ryan Howard went 0-6 .

However...I would avenge this loss, and Howard would get back at ATL in the next one. After Blanton allowed 2 earned runs in the 1st, Ryan Howard would hit his 39th HR of the year in the B1st to regain the lead 3-2. His day wouldn't end there though as he would homer again for #40 (w/ one game left in August),...This Howard solo shot coming back to back after a Raul Ibanez 2r HR.

I handed ATL the loss in this one big time winning 10-3. Joe Blanton won his 14th decision, and pitched his 6th complete gm - which was desperately needed after I taxed my BP in that 13 inning affair the day prior (Lidge, Madson, Romero, and Juan Cruz all pitched at least one inning).

Blanton struck out 5, walked one, and allowed 11 hits (1 solo HR). Blanton is 14-6 in 163.2 innings pitched w/ a 2.98 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP to go along w/ 101 K's, a .271 avg agg., and 2 shutouts.

Both Blanton and Howard are still leading the NL Cy and MVP award races.

Howard is hitting .332 in 123 gms (167/502 ABs).

He has an MLB leading 40 HRs (Burrell and M. Cabrera trail w/ 35 and 33 respectively), and he also has an MLB leading 126 rbi - 22 ahead of Mark Teixiera. He's got 39 doubles, and 84 runs scored, striking out 90 times and walking 54 times. He has a whopping 1.050 OPS and a .357 avg w/ RISP.

He's sooooo a lock for MVP.

                  Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

                  Thanks for the tip JBH3!

I'm going to try my 2nd game tomorrow at 720p, that was the one glaring issue I had tonight in our home opener.. that slowdown in the OF killed me.

We lost a tough one, 6-5 vs the Pirates..

                  PIT 6 16 1
                  STL 5 14 2

Rasmus dropped a pop fly in the 8th to let Pit take the lead for good.

One thing I will say about pitching.. I really like how you have to try each pitch to see where your location is.. just aiming and hitting the meter perfectly will not always make the pitch go where you think it's going to go. With Wainright, I could see his FB was going left to where I would aim, so for the rest of the game, I had to adjust the cursor further right to where I wanted it to go. Pretty cool...

I'll have to try the 720p later tonight as mine is set to 1080p right now and I do experience the occasional jerkiness.

                      Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

i ended up sweeping the Tigers, winning 12-2 (Hawpe hit a GS) and winning 5-4. Fowler also continues to kill the ball, including a big two run homerun in the 5-4 win. Im playing the Dodgers at home next, but I need to rest him a bit so it looks like Stewart is getting the start.

JBH, my power is at 80, and i use your sliders, yet i still seem to hit no homeruns. The player with the most on my team is 5 (Hawpe), and I think thats a little unrealistic at the end of May. My contact is a 60 and my success is 40 i think.

                        Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

Lost 2 of three to the Dodgers. I played one and simmed the rest. The game I lost 3-2 as Randy Wolf literally dominated me through the first 7 (I only had 2 hits). I managed to get 2 off the bullpen though, and with bases loaded and 2 outs in the B9th, Fowler lined out to 2nd to end the threat.

Lost the next two after that, although I do not recall the scores.

Next up was a three game series against the Padres:

                        Game 1 (Simmed)
Lost 5-4. Aaron Cook had one bad inning in the 4th, in which the Padres smashed 4 runs across the plate.

                        Game 2 (In Progress)
Winning 4-0 in the B6th right now. Jimenez has allowed only 4 hits over 6 innings but has struck out only 4 Whatever, Im just happy hes actually not giving up 4 or 5 runs every inning now.

I knocked SD's starter, Josh Geer, out after 4 innings. Hawpe continues to be beastly. Hes 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.

In other news, the Mets have Pelfrey on the trading block. Im tempted to trade Jeff Francis for him, but I dont know if this is the most realistic thing to happen at the end of May. I really do like the idea of getting rid of Francis's salary for a much lower one though to make up some room for potential FAs in the offseason.

Been a long time OS memeber, have not really posted anything in a while, but I'm I'm an Angels fan for life. But since LAA always wins the west I thought I would try to pull SEA heads out of the arses.....not doing very good job, even tho Beltran is tearing the ball of the cover in my chise with 10 diggers and leads AL in RBI's and avg. is .356 in 26 games. Despite all the flaws 2k9 has i'm still enjoying my chise. Oh, and bedard is being asked to go on the dl for 20 games or so...anoying bug, buthuh. its a ame right.

JBH good stuff here man, seems like like your phillies migh pull off another WS win when it all ends.

Just wated to post so some about my chise if anyone is listening.

turn to 720p on my game tonight for the first time, seems to be running smoother then ever even tho I have a 1080p HD tv.

                          Laters, back to BB.

I went back to 1080p, the game seems to run the same on my TV and I think it looks better on 1080p.. some games I don't notice the slowdowns and on others, I see it quite a bit. It's just something I have to live with.

                            Anyway..

I'm 0-2 in my chise.. leading the Pirates 2-1 most of the game and the good ol bullpen gets shellacked again!

Need to win this next game for sure.

                              Re: FRANCHISE PROGRESS

I lost 2 of 3 to the Padres.. which is not good considering they were then tied for 1st Place in the NL West (I know, I know, Padres?). I decided to go ahead and do the Pelfrey deal, simply considering offloading Francis's somewhat bloated salary. I also sent some no name AA pitcher to the Mets packaged with Francis.

I checked Pelfrey's stats and this year hes 2-6 with a 6.12 ERA... no wonder the Mets had him on the block.

                              Francis was 3-5 with a 5.98 ERA.

Anyway, after the Padres series I had a 4 game set in Houston. Lost the 1st game in a wild 14-12 affair. (I was down at one point 13-3 this game). I was a little mad I didnt come back and win, as I had scored 4 runs in the 9th and had the bases loaded with 1 out down by 2. Two lineouts ended the threat though.

Simmed the next two games... won 8-4 and 6-1. In the 6-1 game Aaron Cook pitched a 1 hitter... that only hit being a homerun.

I decided to play the last game of the series and I am now losing 6-1 myself.. mostly because of Berkman, who hit a Solo HR off Jimenez in the B6th to make it 2-1, and then a 3-Run homerun off of Embree to make it 6-1 later on in the B7th.

Pelfrey's 1st start for me will be against the Cardinals I believe.

Made a few trades to better their horrific staff

Sent Balester to the Tigers for Dontrelle Wills (maybe turn his career around)

Sent Cabrera and Willy Mo Pena to the Braves for Jair Jurrjens

Second trade a little unrealistic, but hey i need help

Game 1 : 4-2 loss @ FLA (there were soooo many hits, i had like 12, they had 15)

Game 2 : 9-3 loss @ FLA , tons of hits again any tips?
