Still fighting injuries and Chipper Jones just did something to his knee (art imitating life) and is out for 60 days or so. He was having a good year, batting .295, so I had to respond to not lose the bat. Traded a 3B prospect I drafted that was going to be my future 3B (74 OVR as a rookie; 4 star potential) and Dan Uggla (hits for power, but never gets on base and fails horribly in the clutch) for Brett Lawrie from the Blue Jays. I figure I can move him to SS if/when Chipper returns and he is now my 3B of the future. In his first game he went 2-4 with a 2 run double, so I'm pleased.

I had two All-Stars: Tommy Hanson and Jair Jurrgens and Jair throw a no-hitter against the Red Sox (of all teams) in the first half of the season.

Still having a blast, but I need to find ways to make it more challenging. My offensive numbers are fairly realistic, but pitching is a little to easy. It feels realistic, but the CPU doesn't hit for power and rarely scores more than 2-3 runs a game.
Bump CPU power up to about 80.

Thanks. I've been gradually bumping it up and just reached 80. I'll let it play out for a few games.

It might be because of the power. IF 80 cpu power doesn't work try decreasing User pitch success or pitch break influence. This will help create more missed pitches and less strike outs

19-27 with the Padres. Jesus Guzman has hit in 17 consecutive games and has homered in his last 3. He is now hitting .417. I am using MKHarsh's sliders.

Can he continue his assault on the record book? He is a 78 OVR, but his hot streak has him at a 90.

.417 through 46 games btw is no fluke. Tony Gwynn's .390 mark or so may be a tough to reach goal, but I'd be curious to see where Guzman is looking for Padres doubles record.

I am 5-6 through the first few series.

All my hitters are hitting around .150-.260. Belt has 3 HRs, Rizzo and Alonso each have 2.

Luebke, Sale, and Richard are tearing it up.

              Richard: 2-0, 16.1 IP, 1.10 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, 16 Ks, 3 BBs, 1 CGSHO

              Sale: 2-0, 14 IP, 0.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12 Ks, 2 BBs

              Luebke: 0-1, 21.2 IP, 0.89 ERA, 0.43 WHIP, 24 Ks, 0 BBs

You try these sliders? I have been using them consistently, and seeing all types of games, and pitching has not been easy. Team goes through hot streaks and cold streaks just like in real life. April I started off hot, and May has been totally different, playing below .500 ball, believe overall record is around 22-21. 3rd place in east currently. We must have same thought pattern in Lawrie, as I also traded for him for future 3B after this season. Chipper was solid over .300, but has slipped lately, now around .270. Uggla has been solid .290, McCann has been lights out!! been around .350 all season. Heyward and freeman weak. Pastornicky has been solid .275. Bourn also around .290. I lead NL in SB with bourn, Pastornicky, and Heyward, now Lawrie in that mix possibly. It has been frustrating and exciting at times, but realistic for me. I am in late May. Will give more detail update at end of May.

                  Franchise: Houston Astros

Type: Fantasy Draft + DH always on

                  Sliders: mkharsh33

                  Record: 6-6

I'm still learning how to play the game since I haven't played a baseball game since MLB 2k5 on the Xbox. During my 11th game Verlander got hurt in the 4th game and is out for 60-120 days. Had to bring up Harang from Triple-A, which caused some premature promotions in AA and A.

During the initial Fantasy Draft I went over budget so I can't sign anybody. Will probably have to trade a player or two before the trade deadline to get my team back in the positive.

15-11 in spring training. I was trying to keep the innings and at-bats as realistic as possible with the actual season but they have so many call-ups. The power hitting is awful for me this season.

Was having an amazing franchise going. Playing every game 62 games deep and then I accidentally turn off the xbox while saving and bam I'm one sad panda.

I'm 13 games into the season and my record is 5-8 with the Padres.

My starting pitching is on fire. Here's my rotation,

                        1. Corey Luebke - Games 3, 0-2, 2.79 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 21Ks/19.1 IP
                        2. Tim Stauffer - Games 3, 0-2, 5.49 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 15Ks/19.2 IP
                        3. Phil Hughes - 3 Games, 1-2, 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 19 Ks/21 IP
                        4. Chris Sale - 2 Games, 2-0, 0.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12 Ks/14 IP
                        5. Clayton Richard - 2 Games, 2-0, 1.10 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, 16 Ks/16.1 IP

                        However my hitting is atrocious.

                        1. Cameron Maybin - .265, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 8 SB
                        2. Chase Headley - .245, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB
                        3. Brandon Belt - .260, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB
                        4. Anthony Rizzo - .146, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 0 SB
                        5. Yonder Alonso - .277, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 0 SB
                        6. John Baker - .179, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 0 SB
                        7. John Giavotlla - .216, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 0 SB
                        8. Jason Barlett - .118, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 SB

Re: MLB 2K12 Official How's your Franchise Going Thread

I started a Mariners franchise yesterday with BSU-Fan's roster and MKharsh's sliders.

The first 3 games were against the Athletics which were all pretty close (4-3, 5-3, 3-2), but behind timely hitting and fine outings of my pitchers I was able to pull away all 3 wins.

                          Positive:
                          - Mike Carp hitting one HR in each game (3 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R, 0.417 AVG) and carrying the offense on his shoulders
                          - SP performance (Hernandez, Vargas and Millwood all going at least 6 IP and none has an ERA over 3.00
                          - CL League closing out all 3 games

                          Negative:
                          - although I managed to hit 2 more homers (Smoak and Olivo each have one, which makes together with Carp's 3 HR overall 5 HR in 3 games) my batting isn't there right yet (hitting only .158 AVG)
                          - Ichiro only has .083 AVG right now, Montero is even waiting for his first hit of the season

Upcoming is the series vs. the Rangers @ Texas. I somehow fear it since they have way more power in the bat than the Athletics and when my hitting besides Carp doesn't click I won't have big chances of putting away a win or even two.

I finished through May, wow what a hard month. I am 26-26 overall . Pitching has been better, but man I keep losing extra inning games, or games by 1 run. I will be posting later detailed info on franchise, including stats, standings, etc. Also will post scores of games to see the variety I am getting.

Alright so in my last post I started my season with the Phillies and just finished the first game of the Giants series with a win by Joe Blanton. Hunter Pence was coming off of his groin pull so I brought him up and sent down Domonic Brown. Well the mojo was screwed up with that move and Hunter ended up going 0 for 4 in a loss the next day. It didn't stop there either...I ended up losing the next two games as well, but Hunter started to come alive after a day off with a 3 for 4 game including 2 triples. I went on a 3 game win streak to win the series against the Padres 3 games to 1.

Unfortunately, the next game was a 2-0 loss to the Diamondbacks where Hunter Pence went down with a groin tear and was put on the 15 day DL where he will be out for 38 games. I bring up Domonic Brown again, but sit him for the next day so he can get to full health. After losing that game as well, I decided to start Brown in the final game of the 3 game set. Let's just say he took advantage of his opportunity and went 3 for 4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, and 2 HR's. Not to mention Hamels continued his Cy Young type of year by winning and increasing his win loss total to 4-0 and lowering his ERA to 0.51.

I decided to finish out the month of May, and split the 4 game set with the Cubs by winning the first 2 and dropping the final 2.

Here are some stats for the month of April:

-Phillies record: 13-10 (First place in NL East by 1 game)
-Hamels & Blanton both have 4-0 records
-Hamels has an ERA of 0.51 and 32 K's in 35 IP (3 CG and 2 SO)
-Ty Wigginton leading the team in HR's with 5
-Victorino leading the team with 9 SB's
                              -Domonic Brown is batting .333 w/5 doubles, 2 HR's, 10 RBI's, & 3 SB in only 11 games
So building off of my previous post above, my Phillies franchise has had a pretty bad start to May. Lost 2 of 3 to the Braves and Mets and took 2 of 3 from the Nationals. My record stands at 17-15 (good for 3rd place in the division). Hamels and Blanton are no longer 4-0, but instead 5-1 (Hamels) and 4-2 (Blanton).

Here's where things get interesting. Seeing that the hitting on the team was struggling and only averaging around 3 runs per game, I decided to make a couple trades. Both Polanco and Victorino were doing the worst so they were both dealt. Victorino was shipped off to Texas for Adrian Beltre while Polanco was sent to the Cubs for Alfonso Soriano. I am shifting Domonic Brown to center field and Mayberry to right field. Soriano will play left.

I am about to start my next series against the terrible Padres (9-23), so hopefully the new additions make some nice splashes.

My starting pitching is on fire. Here's my rotation,

                                1. Corey Luebke - Games 3, 0-2, 2.79 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 21Ks/19.1 IP
                                2. Tim Stauffer - Games 3, 0-2, 5.49 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 15Ks/19.2 IP
                                3. Phil Hughes - 3 Games, 1-2, 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 19 Ks/21 IP
                                4. Chris Sale - 2 Games, 2-0, 0.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 12 Ks/14 IP
                                5. Clayton Richard - 2 Games, 2-0, 1.10 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, 16 Ks/16.1 IP

                                However my hitting is atrocious.

                                1. Cameron Maybin - .265, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 8 SB
                                2. Chase Headley - .245, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB
                                3. Brandon Belt - .260, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB
                                4. Anthony Rizzo - .146, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 0 SB
                                5. Yonder Alonso - .277, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 0 SB
                                6. John Baker - .179, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 0 SB
                                7. John Giavotlla - .216, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 0 SB
                                8. Jason Barlett - .118, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 SB
Did you trade to get Rizzo back? I just called him up in my Cubs franchise, and he's hitting .250 with 5 HR and 11 RBI in 12 games.
