how do you play a full season like that? I have only attempted the 52 game season so far this year because I am new to MLB 2k and am only starting to really get into baseball as a whole. Can u tell me why I should play the full season? Just curious, thanks!

Re: MLB 2K12 Official How's your Franchise Going Thread

Well, I just swung a couple nice little deals.

First I traded 3B Chase Headly to the Reds for MR Aroldis Chapman, this allowed me to then swing Houston Street and Everth Cabrera to the Rockies for C Willin Rosario and 2B Marco Scutaro.

I realized that 2012 is not the Padres season, and this frees up about $2.5 million for me under my budget which I will need to sign draft picks with.

Chapman and Rosario are also MLB ready 5-star prospects.

I am loving this game right now, I really feel like I am building something.

Improved to 2-4 in my Mets franchise. I grabbe 2 of 3 from the Nationals. I lost the first game 2-0 in the 11th when Bryce Harper hit a 2 run single. Then I won the 2nd game 1-0 with an Ike Davis walk off double in the bottom of the 9th. Now the rubber match, Santana Vs. Stratsburg. I took this 1-0 again with my only run in the 7th inning. Santana pitched a complete game 4 hit shutout.

Hey Coyle...most of us, I would guess, like to play a full season to build the stats...I love it. Personally I'm a Reds fan, and I use them, but I always sim a few seasons, trading away all of my named players for prospects, and then start my franchise. I like building a team of all no named, cpu made up players. Just more fun for me.

Tell me what you think of my lineup for the Padres. I made some deals to bring in young players.

LF Yonder Alonso. Age: 24. Potential: 5

RF Brandon Belt. Age: 23. Potential: 5

SP Phil Hughes. Age: 25. Potential: 5
SP Chris Sale. Age: 23. Potential: 5

I don't know who your second basement is. Yonder Alonso is on the Padres btw.

I don't know much about Sale or Hughes, but one thing the Padres are lacking is SP stamina. I think the highest might be in the high 70s.

The problem with the Padres is they are too toolsy and have little or no power. Guys like Headly, Bartlett, and the bench look nice bc they have mid-to-high 80s speed, but it doesn't amount to much.

Just always be ready to take the next base. And I would bat Maybin lead off. And I would have a righty hit behind him. This makes the hit-n-run pretty easy. Maybin will get to third and you can score with him when your 3rd hitter grounds into a double play.

13-10 in spring training with the Indians. Trying to see my Outfield back ups and figure out who makes the rotation between Huff/Garland/Carmona/Slowey/Carlos C. way too many decent starters.

Giavotella is a 4 star 25 year old 2B. He has like 71 contact against RHP and LHP, so nothing special but not bad, and lol ya I know Alonso was on the Padres, just listing the young players.

That lineup is against RHPs so Maybin is at the bottom but I have him leadoff against LHPs. Against righties I want the 78 and 71 contact from Giavotella and Headley over Maybin's 58 (I think?).

No, you want Maybin leading off. BBs aren't impossible on this game. The cpu will also play the infield in with him, so if you are good at timing swing influence you'll slap tons of ground balls through the drawn in infield.

The Padres are offensively a disaster. It's critical you utilize any special talents on your team to generate runs. Even with a pathetic contact against RHP Maybin's 97 speed belongs at the top of the lineup over any of the rest of the losers on this team.

Also, I hope you're ready for your season HR leader to have in the teens.

Idk I feel Rizzo, Alonso, and Belt can hit 20+

All have a good amount of power

Alonso is awful against left handed pitching. Petco is also pretty vast. I think Nick Hundley or Carlos Quentin is my leader in HRs and I wanna say one of them has 5 or 6 through 40 games. I guess that's a 20+ HR pace. Of course now that Hundley lost his starting job it won't be him.

I am holding onto Quentin until the trade deadline, then he is gone. He is abysmal.

Ya Alonso and Rizzo are both bad against LHP, but Rizzo still has power against Lefties. Belt though has 78 and 79 power against RHP and LHP.

Also what do you think about belt having such better ratings than Rizzo? Better power against both and better contact against both.

Took a no-hitter into the 6th with Cliff Lee, but was broken up by Gerrado Parra on the first pitch of the inning. When will I ever throw a no hitter?

                            Did win 4-0 though ....

Re: MLB 2K12 Official How's your Franchise Going Thread

After starting off dreadfully, I'm fought back from having the Braves dead last in the division to first place a few days before the trade deadline. The Braves, Nationals and Marlins are all within 2 games of each other at the top so it should be interesting.

Still fighting injuries and Chipper Jones just did something to his knee (art imitating life) and is out for 60 days or so. He was having a good year, batting .295, so I had to respond to not lose the bat. Traded a 3B prospect I drafted that was going to be my future 3B (74 OVR as a rookie; 4 star potential) and Dan Uggla (hits for power, but never gets on base and fails horribly in the clutch) for Brett Lawrie from the Blue Jays. I figure I can move him to SS if/when Chipper returns and he is now my 3B of the future. In his first game he went 2-4 with a 2 run double, so I'm pleased.

I had two All-Stars: Tommy Hanson and Jair Jurrgens and Jair throw a no-hitter against the Red Sox (of all teams) in the first half of the season.

Still having a blast, but I need to find ways to make it more challenging. My offensive numbers are fairly realistic, but pitching is a little to easy. It feels realistic, but the CPU doesn't hit for power and rarely scores more than 2-3 runs a game.
