MLB2K12 All-30 Teams Controlled Franchise:
Year: One
Exclusive Control: Phillies
Mets beat Phillies, tie series 1-1
Jonathan Niese was on his game striking out 12 and walking only 1 over his 6.1 innings of work. He would not allow a run and surrender only 6 hits, leaving with a 1-0 lead after 6.1 innings. Niese, for his fine pitching performance, like Cole Hamels, would receive a No Decision. Hamels would end up going 10 innings throwing only 94 pitches, striking out 6, and surrenduring only 7 hits.
The Phillies were able to get to the Mets bullpen in 8th inning, tying the game with an RBI single against Ramon Ramirez, but in the 11th the Mets strung a few hits together against Michael Stutes and got a 2-1 lead and a 2-1 win as a result.Last edited by JBH3; 04-05-2012, 10:29 AM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

12-16 with Padres now. I thought about re-working my sliders so I compared my offense with last year's Padres.
2012: .60 HR/Game, 3.66 runs/game
2011: .56 HR/Game, 3.75 runs/game
This is going to be ultimate challenge.Comment

Got two very good young bats/players in Yonder Alonso and Cam Maybin. Plus there's Volquez...maybe you can pitch well enough with him and could return him to his former All-Star self. Luebeke is a nice young arm too. I bet it is a challenge though, but a fun one!Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Pads have some cool story lines though...

MLB2K12 All-30 Teams Controlled Franchise:
Year: One
Exclusive Control: Phillies
Phillies take series from Mets in 11-5 rout!
Joe Blanton struggld early and labored through the first inning allowing 4 runs to cross the plate on 6 hits (2 of them doubles). But that nice 4-0 lead did not last long for the Mets as Jenry Meijia would allow 3 runs to plate in the 1st inning, 2 of those coming from a Hunter Pense 2rHR that reached the Philadelphia bullpen in right-center. The Mets' Meijia would only last 3.1 innings allowing 6 walks and 7 earned runs over that span. Garrett Olson would come in for mop-up duty, and do a decent job, but in the B8th the Phillies put the game away with a solo-shot from Victorino, and RBI from Ruiz, Wiggington, and Dom Brown which pushed the lead to 11-5.
Blanton would settle down after his rough 1st inning, and not allow another run until the 6th. He would finish with 5Ks and 3BBs, en route to his first win of 2012. Chad Qualls and Antonio Bastardo would close the door in the 7th, 8th, and 9th and the Phillies take their first NL East series of 2012.
--------------------
Joe Blanton is truly a challenge to pitch with, but fun and rewarding as well. You really have to "pitch" since you cannot rely on pure stuff; his best pitch is rated @ 68.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

0-2 with the Dbacks in a 104 game season, All-star difficulty.
Haven't been that bad considering it's the first time i play this. Have got 12 walks in these 2 games, and 2 HRs.
Just made a trade, Rangers offered me Young for Drew, and i acceptedComment

Re: MLB 2K12 Official How's your Franchise Going Thread
I am now 12-18 with the Padres and despite my lack of scoring I am having a blast. I'm at about a game per day pace, but the fun is racking my brain as to how to improve. I need a legit power hitter and a work horse SP, but I need to get creative to land them.
Grienke, Hamels and Josh Hamilton are looking to headline the FA class of 2013, so if one of their teams is out of it, maybe they can be snagged at the deadline? We'll see.Comment

Re: MLB 2K12 Official How's your Franchise Going Thread
I decided to start a franchise with my hometown team, the Phillies. After a tough Opening Day loss for Halladay, the Phillies emerged victors in the series powered by a Vance Worley day to remember in the final game. Worley threw a complete game, 2 hit, 1 ER, 11 strikeout game leading the Phills to a 7 to 1 win!
The next series against the Marlins was a breeze for the Phillies who brought out the brooms and demolished the Marlins in the final game of the 3 game set by a score of 16 to 3. This win was all made possible by the 20 hits recorded and having all 8 starters in the field (excluding the pitcher Halladay) knock in at least 1 RBI each. Not to mention Thome came off the bench to hit a pinch hit HR.
My third series was against the Mets where the first two games I played suffered losses of 7 to 3 and 6 to 5. I managed to salvage the series though with a pitching showcase by Hamels. He went the full 9 with no runs allowed, 2 hits, and 9 strikeouts.
I just started the fourth series of the year against the Giants and won my first game by a score of 7 to 4. Blanton had a solid outing and got the win with Papelbon getting the save. What I didn't mention earlier was that Hunter Pence got hurt in the first game of the year with a groin pull and has been down in Triple A. Domonic Brown was called up and has produced well getting 6 hits in 20 AB (.300 AVG) with 5 RBI's and 2 SB. Pence will be rejoining the squad for the next game against the Giants while Brown gets sent back down to the Iron Pigs.
So far I am 7-3 and looking like a solid team without the likes of Ryan Howard or Chase Utley in the lineup. Hopefully the return of Pence doesn't disturb any mojo that has been going on. I'll be posting again in the near future with a full update on my 2012 Philadelphia Phillies franchise.Comment
