Got the Spring Training invite from the Twins.. Overall is still only 61 so I'm sure I'll get pounded in spring training, just gotta get points in the 4-5 spring starts to add on points

Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

Is this game for real? I know Josh Willingham isn't the fastest guy in the world, but he tanked (literally) 3 fly balls in my last spring training start.. 3 of them hit maybe 20 feet from him and let them go to the wall, while Denard Span dropped 2 balls hit right at him.. is it that my pitcher's 61 overall rating requires getting blown out when I start spring training games before I'm ready to be called up or do they really think the Twins fielding is this bad?

Worse is 2KSports arrogance in not getting lineups/batting orders correct is getting really annoying. If I'm going to tell it to use current lineups and expect to see them in My Player (or otherwise) set the batting orders how the teams actually use them.. put Ben Revere in right, not Ryan Doumit, etc.. The one thing they seem to have done is give Trevor Plouffe actual power and make him a 4-star player as he's hit home runs this season.

Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

In 4 spring starts, my pitcher has thrown 10.2 innings 0-2 record 10.12 ERA 1.97 WHIP 6K's 1 Walk.. 12 earned runs.. opponents hitting .392..

Won't be getting a call-up any time soon.. can't get my Curveball up to 65 rating and Fastball barely hovers at 65 for a couple batters.. guess I should turn down the AI hitting sliders and make it easier to get people out?

The 2nd season starting in the minors has turned around.. so far.. finally managed to get the curveball up.. threw a complete game shutout then an 8 inning win.. just got moved to Triple A, that sucks because I had 4 starts 3 wins and would have gotten the MLB callup in 3 more starts, now need to restart season goals.

One real oddity I've had happen twice pitching in minors.. batter hits a triple off the wall and stops at third.. shortstop catches the throw and doesn't make a relay throw, he just stands there in the outfield grass.. the runner runs home for an in the park homer..

I just started. Got some more coming but I'm enjoying it. Slugging CF for the Giants organization and doing well so far! Got video up on my channel and will probably make it into a series. Really not much different than 2k10, which was the last one I played. Maybe that'll be different once i reach the bigs.

So far in 4 Triple A starts.. 28 innings 2-1 record 1.61 ERA .89 WHIP 22 K's 0 BB.. 3 home runs given up 5 runs .. 3 of the starts have been 0-0 scores into the 7th inning.. the other I batted in a game and scored an early run, Texas leaguer to right while almost getting thrown out at first for my one hit.. even took advantage of the Minor league AI and stole 2nd with a runner on third. Overall rating up to 64 now. If the team would just score some runs I'd have the call-up in another game, maybe 2 but winning 1-0, 2-1 games is tough

Just had yet another inside the park homerun given up in Triple A.. shortstop plays cut off and stands there with the ball as the runner is at third so the runner takes off with no throw until he's already crossed the plate.. makes it hard to finally win a game as a pitcher

How the hell do I get out of a cold streak? I got called up my first season in the Tiger's organization. Since getting called up, I can't get a hit to save my life. I'm hitting the ball, just right to people every time. Now I'm in this cold streak and all of my stats dropped down below 70.

I have a 3rd baseman in the angels organization. I start with their AA team midseason, and rip it up batting .425 and had 81 RBIs. I decided to buff my power and wound up with over 20 home runs. I led my team to the playoffs and we won. Next year, im called up for spring training and bat .334 with 27 RBIs and 4 HRs and end it on a hot streak going 15-16 in my final three games. Then im placed back in AA and im just too good for the minors. Im 79 ovr and am batting .539, have 11 RBIs, and 3 HRs after 9 games. We are 9-0 thanks to me as i have been player of the game 6 times. All i need to do is play 11 more games and im bound to take over as third baseman because alberto callapso is 75 ovr.

I just started a 3B with the Mariners, and I hope to get a call-up and dethrone Kyle Seager of his starting position.

I'm in season 3 with my 3B with the Dodgers. I started with the Tulsa Drillers, the AA affiliate of the Rockies, got called up when rosters expanded to 40, finished the season. In the off season, I was traded to the Dodgers, where I hit .371, 49 HR, 171 RBI. I got MVP, Sliver Slugger, NL comeback player of the year, NLDS MVP, NLCS MVP, and World Series MVP as we beat the Blue Jays in 6. Now in 2014, we are in first place in the NL West, and I am tearing it up. .433, 18 HR, 51 RBI through 45 games. I am also going for a Gold Glove this year.

Yeah, maybe more than you want. It gets annoying after a while.
                            Update on my player:
                            I just had a game where I went 6 for 7 with a HR, 3 doubles, 3 SB, and 2 runs in a 6-4 15 inning loss to the D'Backs.

Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

                              Hey all,

I just joined this forum to vent about My Player. I haven't bought an MLB2K since the '09 version and really wanted this one. I played like 9 franchise seasons or so in the other one, so this game, as far as overall playability, is pretty much on par with what I remembered.

                              However...

The overall Skill Points, Drills, and Pitch Types in this version (while like I mentioned, not too different from my previous experience) are driving me crazy, where I have went back to Xbox home and re-started the games. My complaints are as follows:

                              - I am in my 2nd full season as a SP for the Yankees. The first 3 seasons I was up with the big team, Cervelli was my catcher. Now, I know that catcher suggestion is just that - a suggestion, but my catcher now is Romine, and holy cow, if I throw a pitch where his bot suggests, it gets hit. But the kicker? If I throw something else somewhere else, it gets hit anyway. I basically have to throw pitches out of the K zone to ensure that it doesn't. Obviously, this is a little dramatic, but you get the point.

                              - For my first purchased pitch, I chose a cut fastball. It is now leveled up to a 71. I was screwing this pitch up left and right at first, even though I was sure I was gesturing correctly. But I realized I was rushing through it. No problem. I started slowing it down, and thus it started to "sort of" go where I wanted it to. But all of the sudden, when I began playing tonight, it's as if the pitch's gesture has changed. It still says to move the stick up and to the left (I use breakpoint), but when I do it slow and correctly, it says it's "bad" and shows that I was doing the opposite thing, which I certainly wasn't. There is no way that this pitch isn't glitched somehow. Even with full stamina, the pitch screws up, and on top of that, the "pitch tool" displays the stick having moved to the opposite direction. No - my controller isn't broken, every other pitch works just fine, including my curveball.

                              - Doing the "Composure & Stamina" drill is a joke. I get that it is supposed to be difficult. That's fine. I have to face Cano every single time and he finds a way to rip a double if the ball is anywhere near his zone. That's ok, too. But there are pitches that get hit that have no business even being touched. This isn't the game's fault, this is just me being an idiot complaining. But it'd be nice to get gold on the thing at least once and nab the stamina point. My stamina is a 94, where I've basically used points to level it up that high except for when I was in the minors and somehow got gold one time.

                              - My FB is an 87. My CB is a 71, 72. My CFB is a 71. My changeup is a 70. Stamina is 94, composure is 80. Pickoff is 64. Fastball control and movement are both at 86. Top fastball speed is 100. I've even somewhat paid attention to the "vs LHB, RHB" and so on. And my overall is a 76? Why? Because I'm an AMERICAN LEAGUE PITCHER and my batting levels are low? They should fix this if they do wind up making another one.

                              - I don't have a Player Goal. This is my 2nd full season in the majors. I've looked through the menu everywhere. I get a season goal, a current goal (Walk less than 5 batters in your next 3 starts and etc.), but no player goal. Is this a glitch?

I could go on and complain about the other pitching drill being ridiculous sometimes, but I won't. And I hate to be negative, because I do actually enjoy this game. But yikes, some of this drives me crazy. I won't even mention the MLB2K time-honored tradition of stats being all jumbled up.

I do have questions for anyone not that annoyed at my post:

                              - Are my ratings for pitches and my overall rating higher against some teams because I pitched well against them in the past? If so, that is a good addition to the game.

                              - Has anyone else been driven crazy by a pitch gesturing poorly or glitching out like the cut fastball does for me?

                              - Is the catching suggestion better just turned off?

I'm not bad at the game, probably not that great either. I don't know too much about messing with the settings or "sliders" (ugh, nice term), but I play on Pro, so I doubt I'm an all-star. And though my K/9 is 8.1 this current season, my overall stats are video-game excellent - 10-0, 1.00 ERA, 83 K in 93 IP. I've been giving up more hits and getting less Ks this season so far, that's for sure.

Anyhow, sorry for the long post and rant, but I've been waiting to open up on this topic for a while!

I decided to go with a closer instead of the 1st baseman (in the other thread, found this one), and i started with the A's cuz they dont have good relievers in my roster. With five gmes or so to go with the AA RockHounds i have 16 saves in 19 opportunities while being 1-0 with a 2.20 ERA, 16 K's (im a control pitcher), and only 1 walk. i have a .277 BAA (giving up 18 hits) and 1 double given up (no triples or HR's). I have a 60 OVR with 67 total control, 25 stamina, and 60 composure. Im playing on Pro, but in season 2 i might up the difficulty and go to a slider set. I'll let y'all know how it goes
