I don't want to flame it up in here and you've responded to criticism very respectfully, so just let me suggest that not every 82-rated player is created equally. Some attributes are more important than others and I'm fairly sure that Harvey's attributes set him up for dominance. Moreover, I assume whoever created Burgos as an 82 has been banned from any future roster creation opportunities? I hope it wasn't 2K, but that's fairly egregious. A 65 would be more in the ballpark, and that's optimistic.

Harvey may be the best pitcher in the NL, but his ratings in the game don't reflect that.

That may or may not be a trade you would accept if you were the Mets, but that doesn't make the trade unfair.
So... not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I'm tending to side more with WTNY on this particular trade. It sounds like you fleeced the Mets, but don't sweat it too much.

As for the whole notion on prospect development in the game, one thing I've noticed (and that I very much like) is that not all the prospects pan out the way you would hope, just like in real life. In Season 1 of my franchise, I drafted a relief pitcher with 5-star potential, and now he's maxed out at 3-stars. Didn't quite live up to the hype, that one! In fact, I've really only had 2 prospects actually live up to their "potential". Most have peaked early or flamed out (that 3-star relief pitcher, however, is now prime trade bait for me. So there is some good that comes out of it!).

This is just something to keep in mind with future trades and/or draft choices. Odds are, your prospects won't reach their potential. Hope that is helpful!

Yeah, I would agree that not all 82 rated players are created equally. And I definitely agree that Burgos is more like a 65 ... he may have started out the first season around a 76 but progressed. I don't remember to be honest though. He definitely did not start out at 82.

I'm not denying I got the better end of the deal, BTW.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. Makes it a little more fun and realistic.

So does buying the inside edge for opposing teams make a difference in terms of simulation? I made the mistake of simulating a few weeks and promptly lost like 12 out of 15 games. I don't think I bought inside edge for any of those teams I simulated against. (Small market team ... I gotta save money from somewhere!) I'm wondering if there is a correlation.

And one more question ... how big of a bump in budget can you expect after good seasons? Does anyone who has played with the Marlins know? Its going to be hard sticking with a $65 million budget, only $30 million of which is actually used on my big league team right now. I think my highest paid player makes like $1.8 million.

I personally haven't seen any correlation between InsideEdge purchases and team performance in simulated games. But to be 100% truthful, I rarely simulate games, so my sample size is extremely limited. Like you, however, I tend not to buy them anyway. My franchise is with the Tampa Bay Rays, and I, too, need to save money wherever I can!

As for the "budget bump" in good seasons... You can roughly predict what your next season's budget will be. Whatever your profit is for the current season, add that to your existing budget. That gives you a VERY rough budget estimate. You also need to account for player salary increases (which is now haunting me. I'm trying to figure out how to trade David Price, since he's now making $15 million, and I have several other contracts that are set to expire. I can't afford to pay one player >40% of my entire budget!), as well as your staff. Another thing to watch is the increase in attendance. If you have a high attendance to your games (this data can be seen under the GM tab, then under "Team Budget"), you will likely get a salary bonus (if your attendance was higher than the previous year).

To give you an idea, my budget for Year 2 of my franchise was around $68 million, but thanks to thrifty signings and trades, my budget for Year 3 is now $83.9 million (I had to trade away the likes of several relief pitchers and Ben Zobrist to save money). So you can get a big bump in your budget if you play your cards (and your players!) right.

My franchise keeps getting corrupt, thoughts?

I can never seem to find out how many seasons you can play in franchise mode. Anyone know the answer?

The Craigler - I think the answer is probably the same as for NBA 2K13, which is it's unlimited.
