    Re: Any questions?

Hey FatPitcher, are you able to take a practice swing (can't remember if you could in last year's game), or does it make you take a full cut when you hit the swing button in the batter's box. Thanks.

      We've made big changes to:
Batting - Cursorless batting system default, still have cursor option, lots of new sliders, CPU batting AI improvements, option for 1-button swinging, hit variety
Pitching - effort meter, strike zone smaller, 8 new pitch types, new pitch select interface, mound visits, bunch of sliders, realistic pitch speed (still an option)
Fielding - short infield dives, camera bias for hits near the lines, new wall jumps, new dives, new lunges, fielders reposition on pitch, new alignments, speed boosts, "smart fielding" and auto-reselect fielder options, bunch of sliders
Baserunning - tuned stealing, runners lead off a bit more when pitcher pitches the ball, assisted baserunning option, rounding bases, bunch of sliders

      Confidence
      Online Play
      Roster Downloads
First Person Mode (with a sort of "halfway" option that isn't all first person but makes a few things easier)
      The Duel
      Player Scaling
Redone stadiums + 3 new ones (Hiram, Petco, Citizens), new grass and dirt
      New faces, all faces redone
      PS2 performance
      GM Career
      Situation Mode
      GameCast
Enhanced Roster Editor (lots of bug fixes, edit rotations and lineups)
      Trophy Room
      Sports Ticker
      Tons of ESPN-style stat overlays
Jon Miller and Karl Ravech - commentary is more interesting than before, too.
Cutscenes redone (broadcast camera style, more variety, etc)
      New signature animations

Those are off the top of my head, so it's not a complete list, but maybe enough to answer your question.

            1. I'm big on throwback uniforms. You guys had some great ones last year and I've seen a few pics of this year's and am not dissappointed. (79 black Pirates! Thank you! ) But I wonder why you guys and everyone else even bother with unis from the teens and 20's. It's safe to say that 99% of the people that buy these games their knowledge of the history of the game doesn't go further back than when Jackie Robinson broke the color line. You guys should take note of what your brothers over at ESPN NFL do and only have unis from the 50's on.

            2. How come there aren't real managers in any of the games? Do they have their own seperate dealie like the NFL coaches? And if so, why can't there be an option to edit/create managers? I think if they can cut to close ups of the managers during games it would give the game more of a real broadcast feel.

            1. They're interesting to look at even if you don't know the history. Puffy pants and funny shoes!

            2. It's pretty cost-prohibitive. I agree that it would add something, though.

This isn't really a question about baseball but what's your relationship with vc? Did they have any input on how to do the first person view (now that's it's confirmed)?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Now that FPM has been let out of the bag, can you tell us what you think of the mode? Is it as good as ESPN Football? When I rented ESPN Football and tried the FPM I felt more immersed and felt like I was actually IN THE GAME. Does it have that kind of appeal to it?

                        Thanks,

and in gm mode...I assume that you play no onfield baseball...you just put the team together and sim.
