    Re: New ESPN Baseball Developer

kuch will bring the change of pace to the series!!...blue shift doesn't know what to do next..they need to be assigned to..making a college football game or something of that matter!!!..vc needs to over look most of their projects by the way..

kuch made espn college hoops 2k4...& that was the best bball game last year.without a doubt!!..now vc took over & put them on nhl..

i trust kuch with a baseball game!!..i'd trust them with the football game next year too!!!..leaving vc time to do lots of research on making a college football game...

VC has been giving Kush existing game engines and they've done great jobs working with those engines. Theyve done wonders with the ammount of polish they put on the hockey franchise in particular, and while their B-Ball engine doesn't have the external polish the pro game has, they've done a better job with tweaking the gameplay, IMO.

Therye option menus are though. I recognized the CH menus on NHKL2K4 before I even realized they had taken over dev. Tiny nitpick though....

The more I think about it, the more I think this is going to be great for ESPN baseball. They were in drastic need of some better animations and player scaling (although player scaling doesn't bother me as much).

Acclaim is filing for bankruptcy on Monday 8/30 so ASB will be no more. That leaves MVP and MLB (which won't be on Xbox). This upcoming year is the third year for MVP and EA has stated it's a 3 year process to get the game they want. It was a good game last year despite it's bugs/glitches.

ESPN was my game of choice last year, but with the strides MVP has made, ESPN really needed something like this to happen. I know it's early, but I can't wait to see some vids/screenshots to see what Kush has done.

I just hope that who ever ends up designing the game.... the man that would make this game great. is the now ex HEAD deleloper of asb... Ryan Fuller... asb is the most complete game.. best stadiums... best deepest real life franchise mode.. and what makes him better than most is that he actually played ball into the low minors... so he knows what he is talking about... he would be perfect for any baseball game coming out next yr.. and with as much that needs to be tweaked fixed in this and mvp... he would be the only man i hire to make the game

If KUSH improves the core gameplay like NHL2k5 and NCAA2k5 will have this baseball game will rock. I would let VC help them with the polish and presentation like NFL2k5 had. The graphics need a overhaul and weather effects need put in the game--sun effects, shadows moving, the changing weather conditions--light to sky, clouds moving, wind changes, etc.

Player models, faces and triple pass rendering all need attention in MLB which has lacked.

I totally agree. I am worried about Kush screwing the baseball game up. They are good, but may not pay enough attention to detail. NCAA 2k3 was the most bug-ridden Sega sports game I've ever played. I can't remember the exact problems, but I do remember a long thread of comical bugs at the Sports Reviewers forum. I am really enjoying NHL 2k5 though and last year's college game was pretty good, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

I just hope the series continues to improve in the ways that really matter. ESPN Baseball is head and shoulders greater than last year on the field. The baserunning AI is vastly improved as is the CPU AI in general. The fielding control is much better. They added a High Heat-like batting interface. The strike zone is much much more realistic, which results in very realistic walk totals and pitch counts with a few slider adjustments. The fields are correctly proportioned this year. The hit variety and ball physics were greatly improved. The play-by-play is incredible.

It seemed to me that Blue Shift cared about baseball. Some of the changes were subtle, but not lost on hard core baseball fans. Let's hope Kush also looks at the ESPN baseball series as a labor of love.
