the contact and power are veryyyy touchy, I'm going to try upping the CPU batting success by 10 and see if it'll be a catch-all.

Try lowering the pitcher handedness influence slider and the inside edge zone influence slider for the cpu. You could also lower the batter pitch influence slider. Lowering these will give the cpu more offense.Gamer Tag C Bus09Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Things have been getting a little better with the scoring from the CPU as I play better teams.
Has anyone had success lowering the fielders speed for the human and CPU settings? I think this might be the actual culprit, as it seems many gappers and deep shots get easily caught, whereas maybe they should be falling more often. This is particularly true of hits over the OF's head, as they almost never seem to result in hits unless they hit the wall.GT: Teambayern5

I think I'm still getting too much offense, esp. with gappers in the OF.
Just beat the Indians 11-0, had 17 hits (12 singles, 3 doubles, 2 hr)
Led off the bottom of the first inning in game 2 of my series (vs Cliff Lee) with a double and a single...Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
OK I have been testing some of the theories about Batting. I have been using a tweaked version of my settings for the last 5 games & have seeing some really good games. It's based on lower batting success & higher contact & power. Combined with tweaks to the Pitcher Handedness Influence, Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence & Batting Pitch Influence.
Here are the Hitting Sliders if anyone wants to test them-out:
USER- Success 40, Contact 25, Power 100
CPU- Success 50, Contact 50, Power 100
Then in the User Pitching Sliders do this:
Gesture Recognition 50, Hold Timing Influence 50
I'm still working on these sliders:
Pitcher Handedness Influence, Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence & Batting Pitch Influence.
I dropped them down to 65 across the board for the User & 75 across the board for the cpu & ended-up with a slugfest & a ton of HR's for 1 game (Indians & Yankees)
It seems like those sliders are very sensitive. Especially BPI Slider
which is already @ 75.Comment

really appreciate your work on this. Every time I see you make an update like this, I get excited that we're only a few tweaks from optimizing everything.
You are basically a developer at this point. They should have you to the studio like the Madden team just did for the OSer's in the football section of the site.GT: Teambayern5

those look better BFJ. I noticed that in my last few games my hitters have raking and hitting isn't much of a challenge anymore.Comment

OK, I played game 3 of my 4 game set with the Indians using the updated sliders from my last post. Had Contact @ 40 for the CPU. Lost 4-0. CPU had 2 HR's (Pronk hit a BLAST into the RCF Bleachers & Fransisico hit a shot into the 2nd deck in RF) all together the Indians had 12 hits. Fausto was a beast taking a no-hitter into the 9th only to be broken-up by Ransom with a lead-off single.Carmona's sinker was filthy, not to mention him mixing his pitches up very nicely. Especially his change-up.
Pitcher Hanndedness for the User was 75 & for the AI 85. Inside Edge Zone was set to 100 for both. Bat Pitch Influence was 75 for both also.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
ok thanks... oh and Joe! on the front page u left out User - Zone Hitting Influence, or should it be 0 !? also what should Batters Eye Influence really be at besides User Preference what do you use it at?
so are you saying we should set the Pitcher Hanndedness for the User at 75 and AI at 85, and Inside Edge Zone at 100 for both and Bat Pitch Influence at 75 for both ?Last edited by sirk; 04-20-2009, 08:53 PM.Comment

I use these and have cranked over half of my HR's without touching the stick. It's all about timing.GT: Teambayern5

What do you mean by timing? I'm hitting fastballs, curveballs, anything possible up in the zone dead on and it's either a pop-up right to an outfielder or a weak line drive.Fan of....
