Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders

Thanks! And thanks for getting me turned on to the cursor system. After the frustration of adjustment, it seems pretty natural now. As I go along I will continue to increase the pitch speed (now at 55) and also maybe CPU pitch success (lowered this a bit to keep pitcher from painting the corners). I am currently striking out out 6-9 times a game and drawing a couple of walks, so the game is infinitely more fun again. Whenever I see posts about people complaining about lack of variety in hits, it reminds me of where I was a couple weeks ago! Thanks again!

Glad I can help and glad you're getting good results from my sliders.

Check my latest baserunning changes. It's still difficult but I'm definitely have a bit more success now.

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders

Well, as a convert to Cursor hitting, I have finally had to adjust the sliders as I am hitting everything that comes near the zone. I put the power down to 60 after Jed Lowrie hit three HR's in one game, and I shellaced the Indians 17-4 while banging out 23 hits. Fifteen of those hits were doubles.

So, I lowered the Power setting down, and now I am not hitting 450+ foot bombs to the opposite field anymore.

Also, I have finally realized that I LOVE this style of hitting in that even with the power slider down a bit, if your timing is correct, especailly at Fenway, you can still get enough lift on the ball to get it out. Ortiz hit a 3 run job (not realistic! haha) and he banged it off of the Pesky Pole in right. This was the first time I have ever gotten him to dead pull the ball. The solution is to hit it just below the trademark on the bat, and if you swing early enough, you can get the hitters to turn over their hands, and yank the balls down the lines.

So, my advice for those struggling is to forget about that tiny little red dot in the sweet spot of the bat, and just put the bat on the ball. You will see less balls get hit right up the middle, and the variety of hits will increase exponentially.

My Virtual Redsox 2009 are 22-9 and have a 6.5 game lead over the Yankees in the East. All of my hitters are over .325 for BA and Papi leads the team with 9 Hr's.

I need to bump up the pitching, contact back down, and try to get some games where I get shut down. Now that I am comfortable with the cursor, and seeing the pitches better, I may need to change the angle of the camera to make it tougher to see the pitches make their way to the plate.

Overall, still my favorite way to hit in this game.

Wow. I tried these out, and in the second game I couldn't believe it when I actually hit 4 home runs in a game (2 with Saltalamacchia even). These might have just saved the game for me, thanks.

Try my updated sliders (use all of them, they all work in conjunction). If you're still getting high average numbers with all of the updated sliders, please let me know. Thanks!

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders

Just thought I would give an update using cursor and these sliders.

I am now a full month in and stand at 12-8 or something like that. I feel that the stats are pretty realistic with most hitters falling between .230 and .450 (only Beltran, who has come out gangbusters). Most guys I would say are right around the .270 to .310 mark, which is phenominal.

HR wise, besides the great center field god with 12 hrs and 30 rbi's, my next highest guy has 4 (wright) and I have hit hr's with unlikely heros hit one out from time to time, which in essense means that I got ahold of one, which feels good.

Steals are tough, but Jose Reyes has 9 and David Wright has 5. Wright also leads the team with 12 walks (5th in the league). Delgado is having a Papiesque slump, and is batting a meager .203 with 2 hrs.

My best pitcher is Santana who is 3-1 but with a 3.23 ERA. Leven Hernandez is turning some heads with his consistancy too.

I dont feel any of these numbers are too out of range. Even Beltran is not leading the league in that many cats. I am having a blast.

                      Padgoi,

Do you have any suggestions for getting the CPU to score more runs? Any idea what raising CPU contact by like 10 would do? I'm getting great numbers for me hitting (with the exception of maybe a few too many home runs), but the CPU just doesn't score unless it's off of a home run.

Are you using ALL of my current sliders? I tackled this issue a few versions ago, the CPU is scoring against me. If you're pitching really is that good, try these adjustments:

                        AI Batting Success: 75
                        Gesture Recognition: 70
                        Pitcher Composure Influence: 75

That should make it more difficult to stop the CPU offense. Honestly, with these changes, I'd be surprised if you're not dropping them back down in a few games.

I'm using the red set at the bottom, is that the most updated? I'll try those changes for the next game, thanks.

The best move i made was the switch to cursor hitting. The results are great and i am getting so many different varieties of not only hits but also games. For example I was playing the Marlins in my Reds franchise and Harang got rocked and i ended up losing like 12-1. About three games later I was playing in Arizona and Cueto ended up taking a no hitter into the 8th. I actually ended up losing in 13 innings 2-1. It was prob the best game ive had since i bought this game.

I have my pitch speed at 80 which is high but i still see on average 1-2 HRs a game. Some games ill hit 3 and some ill get shut down. The best thing with cursor hitting though is that you can hit HRs with anyone. Like Chris Dickerson is tied for the lead in HRs on my team right now (along with Votto). With pitch speed on 80 i only strike out on avg about 6-7 times per game. Thats a pretty good number and something i didnt have with the swing stick.

Made final slider adjustments today and posted in first post. These final adjustments tweaked CPU offense, i.e. I was striking out the CPU way too much before and the CPU was getting realistic numbers of hits but weren't generating any runs. My team ERA was about 1.90. Today's final adjustments should fix this.

I think we have a good set now. Please let me know how you're doing and if the new tweaks are any good. Thanks!

Note: All Current Sliders are in the first post at the bottom in RED!

One final adjustment, lowered CPU Power back down to 90.
                                That should be it.
Hope you guys are still enjoying em.
