To hit more home runs, lower your zone hitting influence slider. It helped me get much more realistic home run numbers.

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders
Pitch speed at 90 is WAY too fast for cursor hitting. If I had my pitch speed at 90, sure I'd get hits, but the pitch is coming too fast to make a real effort to get the cursor under the ball. My sliders work well with pitch speed at 65, I suggest you lower it around there. Through 6 games, my team has hit 7 homers with pitch speed at 65 and my team average is only around .280. You should consider putting pitch speed at 65.Comment

I am having the same problem. The cpu gets to many hits but still doesn't score enough runs. They will have about 14 hits but still only get 2 runs most of the time.Last edited by gambler1180; 05-20-2009, 04:03 PM.Comment

Yes, most updated sliders are in red (only sliders listed on the page, the others are just notes).Comment

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders
Well, I do have to thank you for turning me on to the curser hitting, as it does create the challenge that I had dicussed in my forum string. Now keep in mind that I totally suck at it thus far, but I think I was starting to have a revelation on the hitting right around the time my baby decided to wake up and start crying.
Basically at first I was chasing the balls all over the screen and being way too distracted by the bat. Near the end last night though, I discovered that just leaving the tick mark in the center, and focusing on nothing but the tick mark and the ball and then making a quick reaction after the pitch was allowing me to get more wood on the ball. Nothing felt more satisfying than Jason Bay singling in Papi from second on a head first slide into home plate. You really do feel like you earn those hits. I am still a long ways from being comfortable with them, but it has changed my whole outlook on batting.
A few questions about your sliders, I noticed that while I was playing that my fielders seemed jerkier and if I started with a push in the wrong direction then it would be too late to recover. I missed several fly balls and also went the wrong way on some infield hits. Is this the Red Sox, or is it a setting somewhere in fielding? I suspect if I just let the computer line them up, and then I make some tiny adjustments, I can eliminate those errors, but just checking.
Also, I am about 40 games in with the Mets with sliders that I can unlock cards. Is it feasable to switch to cursor hitting and still keep the sliders that qualify me for unlocking cards, or will the combo of the default sliders and cursor hitting just not jibe (example, pitch speed, power, success, contact, etc). Part of me likes the extra challenge of unlocking cards, but part of me wants a realistic, fun experience.Comment

2. My sliders have nothing to do with the jerkiness of the fielders. You can blame the game for that, it's just bad fielding coding. Sliders really cannot fix that.
3. I honestly have no idea whether my sliders will allow you to continue unlocking cards. I don't really care about cards so I never paid attention to it, I'm just working on realistic sliders.
4. I'm pretty close to a final set, I think the sliders are very good in terms of giving realistic stats so I don't think I'll be tweaking too much more.Comment

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders
I change my mind. I hate cursor hitting
Actually i do like it but I am terrible with it. I have read the zone hitting thread and learned that even though I have been focusing on the little x on the cursor, I really just need to get some part of the bat on the ball. That damn bat just does the weirdest things though....Comment

Re: Padgoi's Post-Patch Cursor Hitting Sliders
Padgoi, a quick question for you.
In an effort to adapt to cursor hitting, I modified a few sliders to make contact a bit easier. First I lowered the pitch speed to 50, then I raised batting success to 65 (from 60) and also lowered batting pitch influence from 75 to 70 (I hear that lowering this down allows for better contact and bit extra "push" on power.
So my thoughts are that while I welcome actually hitting the ball now, it seems that gapper doubles tend to happen with almost a little too much frequency.
My question is which of these would you put back to your original set? I guess I could switch all three back, but do you think that the batting success is the most likely candidate? I dont really suspect the batting pitch influence, because I am hitting between 0-2 homeruns each game, which I am happy with.Comment
