    Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

First game w/ new settings - 50/75 cpu batting, etc.

    Braves (Hanson) vs. Mets (Niese)

    Braves 6 11 0
    Mets 7 14 1

    Braves Offense: 6 singles, 3 doubles, 2 HR's, 1 BB, 5 KO
    Mets Offense: 13 singles, 1 double, 7 BB, 7KO

    Braves Pitching: 71/81 (53%) 7bb 7ko
    Mets Pitching: 40/74 (65%) 1bb 5ko

Pretty good game. I was a bit wild with only 35 pitch control but will just take some getting used to. Mets had several hot hitters as did the Braves, that coupled with me getting used to 35 pitch control probably led to all of the offense. Good game overall though, tight until the end.

      Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

Second game with new slider 50/75 cpu batting...

      Marlins (Nolasco) vs. Braves (Jurrjens)

The entire Braves team except Dan Uggla was on a hot streak. McCann was 88/95, Heyward 93/96, Willingham 81/91, etc. So this helps explain some of the user offense. The cpu had mostly cold batters including Hanley and Stanton yet they still mustered 10 hits. Think I need to lower contact back to 45. Hit totals weren't the problem, the problem was power.

      Marlins 0 0 1 2 0 0 0 0 0 - 3 10 0
      Braves 1 1 2 0 0 0 0 7 x - 11 14 0

Marlins Offense- 8 singles, 2 doubles, 2 BB, 5 KO
      Braves Offense- 8 singles, 3 doubles, 3 HR's, 2BB, 6KO

      Marlins Pitching- 30/69 (70%) 2BB 6KO
      Braves Pitching- 49/73 (60%) 2BB 5KO

It was a close game 4-3 each side with 9 hits entering the bottom of the 8th. Uggla led off with a walk and it crumbled from there for reliever Leo Nunez.

Had an amazing diving catch with McClouth in left center, I uploaded it but cannot find it in my profile on 2k's website. Didn't save the clip, uploaded directly, blah.

So yeah, going to lower cpu contact to 45 and leave the rest the same. If the HR's drought continues I MIIIGHT up power to 80. Hate to do that though because even at 75 everything the cpu hits are bullets it seems, only hit one roller last game an infield single by Coglan. At 45 contact that might produce more rollers though.

          Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

My sliders are very similar to yours and I am having the same problems. The CPU either hits a shot into a gap or strikes out. Same thing for me.

I am closer to finding the right sliders for HUM hitting, but CPU hitting is still a mess. I have only given up 4 HRs all year through around 15 games. Part of it may be because I tend to pitch low, but the CPU just isn't getting that many hits that are deep in the outfield. They hit hard balls, but they are liners that barely make it over the infielders head.

If I try to up power, then I see more hits and still no increase in HRs. I just need to figure out how to get the CPU to strike out less, hit out more, and get more HRs all without giving up 10+ hits a game.

            Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

hey Blazzen, instead of continually upping cpu power to try and remedy the HR issue, why not crank up your pitch meter speed. Thats the flip side to the cpu hit quality. If you don't want everything the cpu hits to be a line drive and you want more variety, keep the power lower (whatever range you like it, 70 maybe) and try and make the meter more difficult. So that way, you're not getting great effectiveness on all your pitches, which should have a similar effect to just upping cpu power.

Idk, just a thought that may be worth a try

              Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

White Sox (Jackson) vs. Blue Jays (Mazzaro)

              No streaks for either team.

              White Sox 2 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 - 6 13 0
              Blue Jays 4 0 0 0 2 0 1 0 x - 7 12 1
              W: V. Mazzaro (1-1) L: F. Boyd (0-1) S: J. Zumaya

White Sox Offense- 10 singles, 1 double, 1 triple, 0 BB, 9 KO
              Blue Jays Offense- 8 singles, 4 HR's, 5 BB, 3 KO

              White Sox Pitching- 43/69 (62%) 5 BB 3 KO
              Blue Jays Pitching- 20/90 (82%) 0 BB 9 KO

Great game! I had upped pitch control back up to 40 before this game because I was constantly getting hit for 11+ runs in the first 5 innings. Starting pitching was shaky for both teams, but after the first two innings, Mazzaro was able to compose himself and last 6, giving up 5 ER. Carlson pitched 2 great innings, and Zumaya was able to close the game out, even after giving up a 2 out homer to Carlos Quentin.

The Sox on the other hand, weren't so lucky. Jackson only lasted 2.1, giving up 4 ER. Boyd came in relief and pitched a pretty solid 5 innings, but gave up 3 more ER. Santos faced two batters once Boyd was pulled and got them both out.

I think upping the pitch control to 40 works a lot better for me. I have OF speed for both user and CPU at 50, and I'm scared to lower it to 30 because of the great amount of hits I am already getting. I know if I lower it, I will get more extra base hits, which I do not see very much, other than the odd double. But do you think my hit totals will be off the chart if I do that? Let me know what you think Blazzen!!

                Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

Another suggestion would be to continually up Contact and possibly lower Power. With more Contact you'll see more balls hit obviously, but lower Power will result in less base hits, but since you have more balls hit, then you still have a chance to give up the HR.

                  Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

First game with 45/75 cpu batting...lowered contact by 5.

Lots of good suggestions guys, thanks. I am still seeing some slow ground balls with the lower contact slider but the cpu actually hit a homerun this game.

                  Phillies (Hamels) vs. Braves (Beachy)

                  Braves 0 0 0 0 4 0 1 0 0 - 5 8 0
                  Phillies 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 - 1 6 0

Beachy pitched really well. Hamels walked two and gave up a single in the 5th and a red hot A-Goz (80/90 batting) hit a grand slam. That was all I would need to get a win. Corey Patterson was on a hot streak (79 power) and hit a solo shot off of Beachy in the 8th. Howard was on a cold streak (68/87 batting at the time) but managed to bang one off the wall for a triple. Good to see some power from the cpu.

                  Braves Offense- 6 singles, 1 double, 1 HR, 2 BB, 4KO
                  Phillies Offense- 4 singles, 1 triple, 1 HR, 0BB 7KO

                  Braves Pitching- 37/68 (65%) 0bb 7ko
                  Phillies Pitching- 31/62 (67%) 2bb 4ko

Going to keep these settings. 45 contact feels better. The only change I can see making from here is either upping the pitch speed meter to 75 or raising cpu contact to 80 but I will play several more games before doing either to see how the cpu offense does.

                  -----
My Braves team this year is SICK. 1st in era and 1st in runs. Last week of august and I'm 83-45 and I've only played every 6th game, most of my big winning streaks were simmed. Best record in the majors by 1 game over the White Sox who also have a sick team.

I lost Lowe and Chipper Jones to retirement in the offseason and the only person I signed was Willingham to play left and moved Prado to third to fill Chippers spot. Realistic move if you ask me, both Chipper and Wilingham were 80 rated and I had 25 million in payroll come off with 15 mill from low and 10 mill from Chipper retiring.

Angels (E. Santana) vs. Blue Jays (B. Cecil)

                      No streaks for either team.

                      W: B. Cecil (1-1) L: E. Santana (1-2)

Blue Jays Offense- 4 singles, 1 double, 1 BB, 9 KO

                      Blue Jays Pitching- 38/80 (68%) 2 BB 9 KO

The pitchers were outstanding. I was able to manufacture my one run in the 8th by getting a bloop single on a hit and run double steal. Brett Cecil fought through the 9th, but with runners on 2nd and 3rd, was able to catch Romine looking with a high cut-fastball to end the game.

I like it at 30. I had a great diving catch my McClouth on a gapper. At 30 you can still get doubles out line drives/groundballs that go right down the lines over the bag if you hustle, balls that are hit to the wall are doubles, balls that are hit in a big gap to the wall can be triples with a speedy runner. That's how it is supposed to be. I like it @ 30. I haven't played with it at 50.

Looks like you're getting some varied results which is nice. High scoring game followed by a pitchers duel. Right now my Braves team is on such a hot streak in my franchise my offensive numbers have ballooned. I think I have user batting just about right though, it's cpu offense that I'm trying to get right. I think either 45/75 or 45/80 is what I'll end up on.

Jump ahead 5 days, and Brad Mills is the replacement for the injured Drabek

Blue Jays (B. Mills) vs. Indians (F. Carmona)

Blue Jays Offense- 7 singles, 1 double, 1 HR, 1 SB, 6 BB, 6 KO
                                Indians Offense- 10 singles, 3 doubles, 1 SB, 1 BB, 7 KO

                                Blue Jays Pitching- 30/76 (72%) 1 BB 7 KO
                                Indians Pitching- 46/77 (63%) 6 BB 6 KO

Hit a contact swing HR with Adam Lind, which was refreshing to see

Choo and LaPorta hit back to back doubles that really killed me in the bottom of the 6th.

(BTW man, let me know what you are taking away from my posting these results)
