    Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

Just finished the regular season in my current franchise and it ended in dramatic fashion. I've been playing 1 of every 6 games, going through the rotation in order but simming in between.

Braves were up 2 on the Phillies in the Division with 3 games to go, however, the Reds were tied with the Phillies for the Wild Card. Last series of the year had the Phillies visiting the Braves. If the Braves were swept and the Reds won out, the Braves would miss the playoffs. Luckily Brandon Beachy beat Cole Hamels in the first game of the series and clinched a playoff spot. The Braves went on to sweep the Phillies who missed the playoffs despite their incredible pitching staff.

Only trade I made was Nate McClouth for Carlos Gomez. Even trade as far as ratings go. Gomez was playing poorly as was McClouth for the Braves. Hoping a change of scenery would help both players. Braves had to assume a healty portion of McClouth's remaining salary.

      Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

I simmed through the playoffs. Braves faced the Rangers in the world series and lost 4-3.

Lowe and Chipper retired. I picked up David DeJesus in free agency to play left field. With Lowe and Chipper's salaries coming off the books it opened up a LOT of money ($25m). McCann signed a 6 year 60 million dollar contract in the offseason.

      VS RHP
      LF DeJesus - 82 OVR
      3B Prado - 84 OVR
      RF Heyward - 92 OVR
      2B Uggla - 84 OVR
      C McCann - 90 OVR
      1B Freeman - 85 OVR
      SS Gonzalez - 82 OVR
      CF Schaefer- 73 OVR

      VS LHP
      LF DeJesus - 82 OVR
      3B Prado - 84 OVR
      RF Heyward - 92 OVR
      2B Uggla - 84 OVR
      C McCann - 90 OVR
      SS Gonzalez - 82 OVR
      1B Freeman - 85 OVR
      CF Gomez - 75 OVR

Bench has either Gomez or Schaefer depending on if its a lefty or right going along with Conrad, Hinske, Ross and minor league short stop 74 OVR (can't recall his name).

      Pitching Rotation is as follows:
      #1 Hanson 90 OVR
      #2 Hudson 84 OVR
      #3 Jurrjens 83 OVR
      #4 Beachy 82 OVR
      #5 Minor 78 OVR

      Closer is Kimbrel 82 OVR
      Setup is Venters 85 OVR

Eric O'Flahrety 78 OVR, JP Howell 76 OVR, Peter Moyland 74 OVR, Steven Marek 72 OVR are the middle relievers and Chris Medlen 76 OVR handling long relief rounds out the bullpen.

Team is rated 94 OVR, 93 Pitching, 90 Hitting

Big expectations for this season. The only hole in this lineup is in the 8th slot with Schaefer and Gomez platnooning in center field - both are excellent defensive players with good speed though. Murderer's Row with the 3, 4 and 5 spots in this order, each hitter has mid to high 80's power. The top of the lineup lacks speed but both Dejesus and Prado should be on plenty in front of Heyward, Uggla and McCann. Pitching rotation is one of the better in the league, back of the bullpen is excellent and the relief core is above average.

I'm striking out a ton! Just about 11-13 K's a game. What sliders can I adjust to cut down on K's but also keep my hits per game 2 at a normal avg?

I don't think sliders will fix this, but patience and pitch recognition will...

these sliders are just about perfect, but i believe bunt contact and success should be reduced to 25 respectively. bunts dont work most of the time when trying to lay one down for a base hit, and it is actually pretty difficult to get a bunt down to begin with (i should know, i play baseball lol). make those changes and these sliders are PERFECT! great job blazzen, these play like a charm

                        Glad you like them!

It is too easy to get a sacrifice bunt down with a pitcher because they always seem to throw strikes with a pitcher. Trying to get a bunt for a hit down is still tough for me at least on these settings, even harder to drag bunt. I haven't practiced it a whole lot either. I just recently got the hang of pulling the bat back on a bunt - game doesn't allow you enough time for it imo, lots of MLB players pull the bat back at the very last second.

I was really good at bunting when I played baseball. I always batted lead off. Good bunting practice is to try to catch the baseball cleanly with a lacrosse stick. Setup a pitching machine to throw them rapid fire at you and eventually it becomes second nature. Someone needs to tell Jordan Schaefer that little tip, I saw him foul off a bunt that ran up his bat and hit him in the eye a couple days ago.

that had to hurt a ton lol. i always got beaned when i played, thats why i quit playing a couple years ago, i always ended up getting hit somewhere above the neck lol.

i see what you mean on keeping it set at 50. the cpu still does a good job of fielding even on 50, but it just seems like its too easy to bunt for a base hit. i like bunt contact at 50 or 45, but i think bunt success should be 40 or below.

the cpu never bunts on me so i would have no clue what that should be at lol. thanks for the imput man, really appreciate the help

Just one suggestion I'd throw out...

I noticed (under CPU Running) that you have your CPU Sacrifice Tendency slider at 75. Personally, I've found this too high as guys who would not sac bunt in a game will with this variable set this high. I have mine at 50 (default) and find that guys will still definitely bunt, mostly pitchers and low power/high contact speed guys. Just a thought from all the games I've played...

Agreed. I have mine set at 35. I had too many #3 and #4 hitters sacrificing early in the game.

So I lowered cpu and user pitch speed from 75 to 70 since both offenses seemed like they were slumping. It just seemed that I and the cpu couldn't catch up to the mid to high 90's fastball, (especially me with a power swing) the first two games I did this, there was only a slight change in the solid contact the batters were having, also less strikeouts. The other thing is it really makes you sit back for that breaking ball which is how it is like in the majors, wouldlike opinions on this change. Thanks
