You can try lowering pitch meter speed to get more effective pitches. Remember, if you go BEYOND max on that meter its a 75% effectiveness pitch. It's best to throw a little under MAX than it is to overthrow and drop to 75% effectiveness.

Turn on the gesture thing for every pitch and you will see what I'm talking about. 45/75 is perfect for me, but I've had a lot of practice. The gesture indicator thing is a really good tool. Should be in presentation settings, give it a shot.

You also could be throwing too many strikes. Gotta get the CPU to chase some balls, put some bad pitches in play for outs. You need to end up walking some guys, don't give in all the time trying to prevent a walk.

If you are giving up 13 hits but 0 walks, that's not too far off. Most teams average ~ 8-9 hits per game and 3-4 walks. Gotta look at it from a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning's pitched) perspective.

now I understand why I suffer from hits...
BTW I think strike zone tendency 40 is bit too low
I tested. Too many easy walks... The previous 45 is better

I've been back and forth on the strike zone tendency and I've landed on 40 instead of 45 and I'll tell you why.

Average walks per game is over 3 per team. Strike % is typically around 66% or 2 strikes for every ball. However, this cannot hold true in MLB 2k11 and still generate enough walks. The reason being there are not enough foul balls in this game. If you adjust for the fact that there are a lot less foul balls in this game which will lower the ball to strike ratio 40SZT seems to average out pretty well.

In the two games I played I walked 5 times against the Mets Chris Young, Jon Niese and a couple other relievers in a game. Then I went up against Cliff Lee and the Phillies and was only walked once by Lee who struck me out 12 times and threw a complete game shutout. It seems like with the strike zone tendency at 40 the guys with great control can really shine and the sub par pitchers get themselves into trouble as they do in real life.

I'll concede you may have a better eye than I do. I chase my fair share of pitches especially those slow 12-6 curve balls. It's your game, use whatever settings you want. These are simply a template to start from and I'm offering an explanation for why I set them where I did.

              Re: Blazzen's MLB 2K11 Slider's

Hey blazzen, for the record, the strike % is actually about 61%. 45% of pitches are in the strike zone while 55% are outside the strike zone, but about 29% of the pitches out of the strike zone are swung at (aka about 16% of all pitches... .55 * .29)

              for a grand total of 61% (45 + 16) strikes & 39% balls

Either way, based on my testing, it seems a slider between 40 and 45 would be perfect lol. 45 doesn't quite produce enough balls out of the strike zone, while 40 produces a few too many. I know that doesn't really help lol, but it is what it is. I'd go 40 if you have high cpu effectiveness (harder to tell balls from strikes, because the cpu paints the corner better) and/or a tendancy to swing at too many balls, and 45 if you run with a lowish cpu effectiveness (easier to tell balls from strikes) and/or you have a good eye at the plate.

Too early to tell after just 4 games but looking decent thus far. 30/50 user batting might be better than 25/55 if HR's and K's stay too high. CPU K's are high also, but hits are high, so I'm not sure that I'll be able to balance that out since hits and K's have an inverse relationship to the contact slider. I need to add errors to this stat tracking as I have a feeling that a lack of errors may be reducing runs slightly. The high KO numbers certainly help reduce runs by preventing runners from moving up, unable to manufacture runs with high KO's.

Good post. I feel the same way, 42.5 would be perfect! I'm going to keep mine at 40 I think. I play with 60 cpu pitch success and I like to drink Heineken's while playing my franchise which I'm sure doesn't help me judge/react to pitches.

Is anyone else having problems with CPU baserunner speed at 35? I just played the A's (first game with 35) and was having players with 76 speed make it from 1st to home on maybe a 1st to 3rd hit. I also had Crisp steal second and third, both on 94mph fast balls, good reaction throwing the ball and no play on either base. I know Crisp has 90 speed, but I would think there should have at least been a play.

                        Hey one question...
I shift the AI pitcher composure to 5 today...
Seems like its much easier to get consequtive hits from AI pitchers
Does that 5 composure rly matters that much@@?

You can drop it to 30 if you want. I was playing at 40 for a long time and after the patch it seemed like with less graphical lag players were running faster and dropped it to 35.

I had a game last night that I had Hinske on first (60ish speed) with 2 outs in the 9th, down by a run and I was debating whether or not to sub in a faster runner. I chose not to and the next pitch I doubled down the line but Hinske was too slow to make it home. Next batter grounded out to end the game. In my opinion 35 is a good setting. 76 is not slow by any means, Jason Heyward has 80 speed to put it into perspective. It's probably realistic that a 76 speed runner goes first to home on a stand up double.

35 speed is def the best, I have tested this at many different levels, also remember the CPU infield speed/throw power and CPU outfield speed/throw power sliders matter a lot here also

Got a game in last night.

                              Brewers 1 run, 8 hits, 1 HR, 3BB, 9KO

User K's might be a little inflated over these 5 games I've played because two of the games were against Cliff Lee and Zach Greinkie. Those two games account for 22k's. Doubles are right where they should be, HR's are a little high but the Braves are towards the top of the league in HR's and have a lot of hitters with decent power. I'm halfway considering going to 30/50 batting for the user, just don't want it to prevent me from hitting HR's with my lower rated power guys. Last night the HR I hit was on a contact swing with Alex Gonzalez (75pwr) so maybe I can sacrifice 5 points in power.

The CPU is still striking out too often. I also think some of these dinky singles they are getting are going through the right side because I have Hinske at first because Freeman is injured and Uggla who is rated very low defensively, maybe too low as he's had a good year thus far at 2B. I'm wondering if I need to bump CPU contact up to 50. Thoughts? Should I also take power up to 80? CPU homeruns are about where they should be but doubles are off. Some of the doubles went to triples due to speedy runners but even if you add them together there aren't really enough doubles.

30/50 user? 50/80 cpu? Thoughts? Biggest problem I see with raising cpu contact and power is it resulting in too many hits. I can probably get away with just raising contact to be honest and go 50/75 for the cpu. The lack of doubles is probably just coincidence, in the past if they were hitting HR's they were getting their doubles in too.

blazzen... there seems to be little-to-no difference between classic hitting and stick hitting this year, so I believe we can all share helpful stuff.

I'm thinking about going with user contact/power at 25/55 and for the cpu at 50/75. at cpu 50/80 it seems like you hit those innings where you are just powerless to stop them.

I also have my user pitch control at 30 now, and I'm not liking it as the cpu never seems like a threat now. but if I go back down to 25, then I get those bad innings. So I think I will go cpu 50/75 with pitch control at 25 and see what happens.

I want to thank you for your thoughts. I read all these threads as we're all doing a great job researching this. I laugh when I see all of us still trying to find that "perfect" set.
